Book excerpt: The "Ghazal" has long been a part of the literary tradition of Persia. In style, it consists of a number of carefully-crafted stanzas with the author's name appearing in the final one. The ghazals, or poems, included in this collection contain the crystallized philosophy of Sufi Master Molana Shah Maghsoud Sadegh Angha (Professor Angha). Writing at the young age of 23, Professor Angha's words were a fair reflection of his life at the time, and the life he was to unfold. Based originally on a Persian form, they should be treasured simply as beautiful poetry by those people seeking a meaningful way of life. Contents: Introduction; Selections from Ghazaliat; Chants; Glossary; Genealogy of Maktab Tarighat Oveyssi Shahmaghsoudi (School of Islamic Sufism) and list of works by the author.
Book Synopsis Cultural Understanding of Soils by : Nikola Patzel
Download or read book Cultural Understanding of Soils written by Nikola Patzel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-10-24 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cultural understandings of soil are diverse and often ambiguous. Cultural framing of soils is common worldwide and is highly consequential. The implications of what place the earth has in people's world view and everyday life can be in line with or in conflict with natural conditions, with scientific views, or with agricultural practices. The main assumption underlying this work is that soil is inescapably perceived in a cultural context by any human. This gives emergence to different significant webs of meaning influenced by religious, spiritual, or secular myths, and by a wide range of beliefs, values and ideas that people hold in all societies. These patterns and their dynamics inform the human-soil relationship and how soils are cared for, protected, or degraded. Therefore, there is need to deal inter-culturally with different sources and types of knowledge and experience regarding soil; a need to cultivate soil awareness and situationally appropriate care through inter- and intra-cultural dialogues and learning. This project focuses on the human and intangible dimensions of soil. To serve this aim, the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) founded a working group on Cultural Patterns of Soil Understanding that has resulted in this book, which presents studies from almost all continents, written by soil scientists and experts from other disciplines. A major objective of this project is to promote intercultural literacy that gives readers the opportunity to appreciate soil across disciplinary and cultural boundaries in an increasingly globalized world. . .

Book Synopsis Implication of Ibadah, Akhlaq & Manner in Shariah by : Professor Dr. ABM. Mahbubul Islam
Download or read book Implication of Ibadah, Akhlaq & Manner in Shariah written by Professor Dr. ABM. Mahbubul Islam and published by Ahsan Publication. This book was released on with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book “Implication of Ibadah, Akhlaq and Manner in Shariah” is consisted of three dimensions that is Ibadah (worship), Akhlaq (character) and Manners (Adab). These are the most important basic elements of Islam which are essential to know and put in practice by each and every individual. Ibadah is so important for which man and jinn are created. Akhlaq is so important for which the Messenger of Allah was sent and assigned for and manner is so important the observance of which is imperative of having paradise. As regards "Ibadah“ Allah Ta’ala says “Indeed I have not created man and jinn but they should worship Me” and as regards Akhlaq or character the Messenger of Allah says that “Indeed I have been sent to perfect the character (of man)” and as regards manner (in responding toward a favor) Allah Ta’ala command “when you are greeted with a greeting; greet in return that which is better than it or (at least) return it equally. Certainly, Allah is Ever Careful Account Taker of all things”. The outcome or findings of this writing is firstly have shown that Ibadah, in addition to the meaning of worship - is the obedience of the entire set of laws of Allah without any reservations whatsoever. Secondly, performance of all permissible acts and avoidance of all prohibited acts in one’s life time is Ibadah provided these are done in carrying out one’s obligation for the pleasure of Allah and reward in the hereafter. Hence, a man can be a good worshiper of Allah while he is a Politian, or a professional if he leads his all of his actions, duties, obligations etc., in conformity with the law of Allah. Thirdly, the sole objective of sending the Messenger of Allah is to perfect the character means to purify the soul of human being as the soul is responsible for producing good actions, reactions and behaviors. Hence, character of a person good means the soul of a person is good and having of good soul is the way either to paradise and bad soul is the hell. Fourthly, Adab or etiquette referred to the obligation, duties or responsibilities of a man towards his own body, own soul, towards all other human and non human beings to be shown as per the ways and methods prescribed by shariah. Fifthly, the write up is of the conclusion that, the true objectives of the creation of man could only be realized in its true sense in knowing and observing these three as dimensions. Leaving and observing of them would lead its followers towards the learning and practicing of entire set of shariah which is the ultimate objective of the law of Islam.

Book Synopsis Persia and the Persian Question by : Marquess George Nathaniel Curzon Curzon of Kedleston
Download or read book Persia and the Persian Question written by Marquess George Nathaniel Curzon Curzon of Kedleston and published by London : Longmans, Green. This book was released on 1892 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: George Nathaniel Curzon (1859-1925) was a British politician, traveler, and writer who served as viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905 and foreign secretary from 1919 to 1924. As a young man he traveled extensively and wrote several books that drew on his travels, including Russia in Central Asia (1889), Persia and the Persian Question (1892), and Problems of the Far East (1894). Persia and the Persian Question, presented here, is two-volume work, based on a six-month stay in Iran that Curzon began in late 1899 as a correspondent for the London newspaper, the Times. The author's intent, as he states in the preface, is to produce "the standard work in the English language" on the subject. After two introductory chapters, chapters 3-12 document Curzon's visits to and observations concerning different parts of the country, including the journey from Ashkabad (present-day Ashgabat, Turkmenistan) into Iran and stays in Kuchan, Meshed, Khorasan, Seistan, Tehran, and elsewhere. Volume one concludes with individual chapters devoted to the shah and the royal family; the government; institutions and reforms; the northwest and northwestern provinces; the army; and railroads. Volume two begins with another seven chapters (19-25) recounting journeys to different parts of the country, including Isfahan, Shiraz, Bushir (present-day Bushehr), and the eastern, southeastern, and southwestern provinces. The remaining chapters (26-30) deal with the navy; the Persian Gulf; revenue, resources and manufactures; commerce and trade; and British and Russian policy in Persia. For Curzon, the essence of "the Persian question" is the rivalry between the Russian and British empires for influence in Persia, which he discusses in detail in the final chapter. This chapter also deals with Persia's "two Asiatic neighbours," Afghanistan and the Ottoman Empire, both of which "held large tracts of territory that were once included within the Persian dominions." Curzon ends on a hopeful note regarding the future development of the country, but he cautions patience and warns that "colossal schemes for the swift regeneration of Persia ... will only end in fiasco." He also warns against a dominant role for foreign concessions: "Persian capital must be interested in the exploitation of Persian resources, for a monopoly of the finance by foreigners excites jealousy, and suggests the idea of usurpation." The book includes illustrations and maps.

Book Synopsis Border Crossings by : Fred Reinhard Dallmayr
Download or read book Border Crossings written by Fred Reinhard Dallmayr and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 1999 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comparative political theory is at best an embryonic and marginalized endeavor. As practiced in most Western universities, the study of political theory generally involves a rehearsal of the canon of Western political thought from Plato to Marx. Only rarely are practitioners of political thought willing (and professionally encouraged) to transgress the canon and thereby the cultural boundaries of North America and Europe in the direction of genuine comparative investigation. Border Crossings presents an effort to remedy this situation, fully launching a new era in political theory. Thirteen scholars from around the world examine the various political traditions of West, South, and East Asia and engage in a reflective cross-cultural discussion that belies the assumptions of an Asian 'essence' and of an unbridgeable gulf between West and non-West. The denial of essential differences does not, however, amount to an endorsement of essential sameness. As viewed and as practiced by contributors to this ground-breaking volume, comparative political theorizing must steer a course between uniformity and radical separation--this is the path of 'border crossings.'
