Book Synopsis The Indie Filmmaker; A Beginner's Guide by :
Download or read book The Indie Filmmaker; A Beginner's Guide written by and published by David D. Ford. This book was released on with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am an independent filmmaker from East Texas area and I've put together a step-by-step process that I utilized in making two feature length films, both of which have either won awards or been nominated. Also, both of my films have received numerous distribution offers and is currently in global distribution on video demand platforms like Vudu, Hulu, Google Play, itunes, Amazon Prime, ect. If you have a vision of making a movie as a future filmmaker but don't know where to start, this book is perfect for you. The good news is that you don't need thousands of dollars to make a movie. Of course it helps, but I only had $1800 to start my first feature film. I got tired of waiting on Hollywood or some unrealistic break, so I decided to become Hollywood in East Texas, and I did. You can too if you follow my guide. I never claim this will be easy because making a movie is hard work, but it's the kind of hard work I love and am passionate about. I didn't have a booklet to help me along when I first started so I learned the best way, through experience. I sum up the steps that will save you time and money from pre-production to post production in this ebook. It is practical and affordable. I don't talk about theory here. Instead, I list the process in steps. If you are skeptical to any of this, please take a moment and watch the short video where I show evidence of my awards, films, and experience.

Book Synopsis Extreme Speech and Democracy by : Ivan Hare
Download or read book Extreme Speech and Democracy written by Ivan Hare and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2010-11-18 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A commitment to free speech is a fundamental precept of all liberal democracies. However, democracies can differ significantly when addressing the constitutionality of laws regulating certain kinds of speech. In the United States, for instance, the commitment to free speech under the First Amendment has been held by the Supreme Court to protect the public expression of the most noxious racist ideology and hence to render unconstitutional even narrow restrictions on hate speech. In contrast, governments have been accorded considerable leeway to restrict racist and other extreme expression in almost every other democracy, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and other European countries. This book considers the legal responses of various liberal democracies towards hate speech and other forms of extreme expression, and examines the following questions: What accounts for the marked differences in attitude towards the constitutionality of hate speech regulation? Does hate speech regulation violate the core free speech principle constitutive of democracy? Has the traditional US position on extreme expression justifiably not found favour elsewhere? Do values such as the commitment to equality or dignity legitimately override the right to free speech in some circumstances? With contributions from experts in a range of disciplines, this book offers an in-depth examination of the tensions that arise between democracy's promises.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generation Priced Out is a call to action on one of the most talked-about issues of our time: how skyrocketing rents and home values are pricing the working and middle classes out of urban America. Randy Shaw tells the powerful stories of tenants, politicians, homeowner groups, developers, and activists in over a dozen cities impacted by the national housing crisis. From San Francisco to New York, Seattle to Denver, and Los Angeles to Austin, Generation Priced Out challenges progressive cities to reverse rising economic and racial inequality. Shaw exposes how boomer homeowners restrict millennials’ access to housing in big cities, a generational divide that increasingly dominates city politics. Shaw also demonstrates that neighborhood gentrification is not inevitable and presents proven measures for cities to preserve and expand their working- and middle-class populations and achieve more equitable and inclusive outcomes. Generation Priced Out is a must-read for anyone concerned about the future of urban America.
