Na reconstituição analítica do processo de mudança nessa organizaçao tomou-se como referência os traços culturais institucionalizados ao longo da sua história e privilegiou-se a dinâmica cultural relacionada à implementação de um novomodelo de gestão de P & D.A escolha teórico-metodológica ancorou-se nos pressupostos do paradigma interpretativo de análise organizacional e nos fundamentos do processo de triangulação, cujo propósito é construir uma interface entre as técnicasde pesquisa qualitativa. As conclusões reunidas neste trabalho reforçam a tese sobre as dificuldades associadas aos processos de transformação cultural nas organizações de P & D, bem como dão uma contribuição para o debate sobre a problemáticarelacionada aos processos de mudanças nessas coletividades especializadas na produção do conhecimento. A compreensão da dinâmica cultural socialmente construída, incluindo as suas contradições e as representações simbólicas elaboradas em tornodos processos de gestão estudados, pode também propiciar o embasamento necessário à elaboração de projetos de intervenção e mudança em outras organizações de P & D integrantes do Sistema Nacional de Pesquisa Agropecuária).
