Contre ce déclin en marche, il faut ouvrir les fenêtres, faire confiance aux citoyens, à ceux qui, faute de diplômes ronflants, sont aujourd’hui condamnés au mutisme par une oligarchie scolaire aussi arrogante que si souvent incompétente. Les pays où le peuple à son mot à dire, non pas en cassant du mobilier urbain mais en s’exprimant régulièrement sur des sujets qu’il initie et qui le concerne, se portent bien : par comparaison avec la France, ces pays sont plus prospères, stables, innovants, et les gens y sont plus heureux. Il est donc temps de nous approprier des outils démocratiques, comme le sont l’initiative populaire ou le référendum abrogatif, permettant aux citoyens de s’exprimer dans le calme et qui, entre autres vertus, rapprochent les citoyens de leurs élus. A nos portes, le modèle démocratique suisse est celui qui devrait nous inspirer. Cette démocratie-témoin démontre que la combinaison de la démocratie directe et de la démocratie représentative est la meilleure des recettes politiques.
