Book Synopsis Dynamics of Materials by : Lili Wang
Download or read book Dynamics of Materials written by Lili Wang and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-07-25 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamics of Materials: Experiments, Models and Applications addresses the basic laws of high velocity flow/deformation and dynamic failure of materials under dynamic loading. The book comprehensively covers different perspectives on volumetric law, including its macro-thermodynamic basis, solid physics basis, related dynamic experimental study, distortional law, including the rate-dependent macro-distortional law reflecting strain-rate effect, its micro-mechanism based on dislocation dynamics, and dynamic experimental research based on the stress wave theory. The final section covers dynamic failure in relation to dynamic damage evolution, including the unloading failure of a crack-free body, dynamics of cracks under high strain-rate, and more. - Covers models for applications, along with the fundamentals of the mechanisms behind the models - Tackles the difficult interdisciplinary nature of the subject, combining macroscopic continuum mechanics with thermodynamics and macro-mechanics expression with micro-physical mechanisms - Provides a review of the latest experimental methods for the equation of state for solids under high pressure and the distortional law under high strain-rates of materials
Book Synopsis Shock Wave Science and Technology Reference Library, Vol. 3 by : Yasuyuki Horie
Download or read book Shock Wave Science and Technology Reference Library, Vol. 3 written by Yasuyuki Horie and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-18 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second volume of Solids Volumes in theShockWaveScience and Technology Reference Library. These volumes are primarily concerned with high-pressure shock waves in solid media, including detonation and hi- velocity impact and penetration events. This volume contains four articles. The ?rst two describe the reactive behavior of condensed-phase explosives, and the remaining two discuss the inert, mechanical response of solid materials. The articles are each se- contained, and can be read independently of each other. They o?er a timely reference, for beginners as well as professional scientists and engineers, cov- ing the foundations and the latest progress, and include burgeoning devel- ment as well as challenging unsolved problems. The ?rst chapter, by S. She?eld and R. Engelke, discusses the shock initiation and detonation phenomena of solids explosives. The article is an outgrowth of two previous review articles: “Explosives” in vol. 6 of En- clopedia of Applied Physics (VCH, 1993) and “Initiation and Propagation of Detonation in Condensed-Phase High Explosives” in High-Pressure Shock Compression of Solids III (Springer, 1998). This article is not only an - dated review, but also o?ers a concise heuristic introduction to shock waves and condensed-phase detonation. The authors emphasize the point that d- onation is not an uncontrollable, chaotic event, but that it is an orderly event that is governed by and is describable in terms of the conservation of mass, momentum, energy and certain material-speci?c properties of the explosive.
Book Synopsis Terminal Ballistics by : Zvi Rosenberg
Download or read book Terminal Ballistics written by Zvi Rosenberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-09 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprehensively discusses essential aspects of terminal ballistics, combining experimental data, numerical simulations and analytical modeling. Employing a unique approach to numerical simulations as a measure of sensitivity for the major physical parameters, the new edition also includes the following features: new figures to better illustrate the problems discussed; improved explanations for the equation of state of a solid and for the cavity expansion process; new data concerning the Kolsky bar test; and a discussion of analytical modeling for the hole diameter in a thin metallic plate impacted by a shaped charge jet. The section on thick concrete targets penetrated by rigid projectiles has now been expanded to include the latest findings, and two new sections have been added: one on a novel approach to the perforation of thin concrete slabs, and one on testing the failure of thin metallic plates using a hydrodynamic ram.
