Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Go on a journey through the jungle without ever leaving your bed! With Your Bedroom is a Rainforest!, kids can transform an ordinary room into a habitat for some of Earth’s most amazing creatures with reusable, wall-safe (and BPA-free!), glow-in-the-dark stickers—everything from blue morpho butterflies to Bengal tigers to poison dart frogs! “What’s your favorite animal?” The answer to this question, much like one’s favorite color, can say a lot about a kid. Maybe they’re into gorillas because they admire their nobility; maybe the colors of a toucan capture their imagination; maybe they like crocodiles because they take to water. While there are countless possible answers to this question, one thing is almost certain: they probably aren’t going to say, “squirrel.” No, the favorite animal of a child tends to be exotic, dangerous, fast, and maybe even endangered. In the past, a long and expensive trip to the zoo was required for kids to pay a visit to their beast of choice. Well, not anymore! Your Bedroom is a Rainforest! brings the incredible ecosystems of Central America, northern South America, western Africa, Southeast Asia, and beyond, right to the walls of your child’s bedroom! Within this keepsake-worthy hardcover book you will find more than 60 reusable stickers of jaguars, capybara, scarlet macaws, monkeys, forest elephants, anacondas, and many more adorable—and sometimes ferocious—animals glow in the dark and bring your environment to life. Along with the stickers, kids can look forward to pages packed with illustrations of their favorite animals accompanied by fascinating, and often hard-to-believe facts, such as: - Most pandas spend half the day eating. - Toxic poison dart frogs have neon colors to warn predators. - Tiger urine smells like buttered popcorn. - Without sloths, there would be no avocados! - Lions may be called the kings of the jungle, but they don’t live anywhere near them. - Much of the life in the rainforest is found in the trees. - Unlike many other cats, jaguars do not avoid water; in fact, they are excellent swimmers. The high-quality, glow-in-the-dark stickers might be what gets kids interested, but the amazing facts are sure to be what keeps them around. And the best part? You’re never too old to appreciate amazing jungle animals! About the Author: Hannah Sheldon-Dean is a writer, editor, and educator specializing in publications for children and young adults. She has written several licensed activity books and gift books with Penguin Young Readers, and she writes and edits fiction, nonfiction, and educational materials for a variety of outlets. She is currently a writing consultant at the Columbia University School of Social Work and a volunteer mentor with Girls Write Now. Hannah received a Master’s of Social Work from New York University and a BA in Literary Arts and Education Policy from Brown University, and she loves to work on projects that fall at the intersection of those fields. She lives in Brooklyn but grew up in Vermont, so you might see her wandering the city in search of pine trees, mourning doves, caterpillars, or whatever other bits of nature she can find. She also loves singing with Khorikos choir, baking bread, and dreaming about the animal sanctuary she’ll open someday.

Book excerpt: Every creature on earth depends on another to survive. This reliance extends to all aspects of an ecosystem and ultimately our planet. Human beings have a tremendous responsibility for supporting the health of the environment and the survival of all that exists. We can feel good about doing our part and showing that we care. Understanding the circle of life helps us recognize our connection with others. As with the animals in a jungle, we can learn to respect the diversity of humankind. Knowing that all lives are precious highlights the unique qualities that each person brings to the world. When we can celebrate our similarities and differences, we’ll more fully appreciate how we share the human experience.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We sink deeper and deeper into the viscera and tormented moods of this young man who lives only on dreams and adventures, and occasionally sex and romance. Unless it's the other way around... Out of generosity he gives us everything. Aren't we all the same with our imperfect human emotions? How good it is that he takes us to visit our shadow areas that we too often deny, making us incomplete beings... From isolated lands to lost lands, he gives us his intimate secrets, full of his old lives and their emotional scoriae. Thus, from roads to routs, he will find the goal of his long quest and will marry underwater for what he has finally come to seek - deep love - in the purest protocol of the Atlanteans. In short, we enjoy ourselves, we want more, and here is the rest! Keywords: Sex, adventure, reincarnation, past lives, vicious family ties, liberation, and...er...sex again. EXTRACT : Lesson of the day: how to defecate quietly, at the back of the boat. Sit down on the back railing, making sure of course that there is no one watching you, or your ego may take a hit, the position is so immodest and shocking. Pull down your underpants, securing your hands firmly to the railing. Slowly move your buttocks back to the point of no balance, and make sure there are no greedy gulls hovering behind, who, thinking what is about to fall is food, might.. .finally it is better to avoid that. Also be sure that the rogue wave will not come to affect your hazardous balance either, take a deep breath and push hard to quickly eject the materials that are stalling, or feces. As a dead poet would say: "It is good to hate our ridiculousness by cheering up our testicles". So for the toilets, it will be bare ass, defecating in free fall at the back of the boat, women as well as men. Everyone giggles with stifled, yellow, embarrassed, childish laughter...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story is about what would happen if all of a sudden, without any warning , there was no electricity, no connection to technology. Back in 1999, technology was quickly becoming so necessary to everyones existence. Not many people had cash in their purses and grew their own food. Not in the city. There are three main characters. Jack, a self-made man who grew up in a humble home but was a happy child. How he came to live on his cattle property with his wife and two daughters. How he survived the world without technology. Jade, a middle-aged woman whose three children had grown up and left their city home to seek their own way in life. How her life had become so dismal and how she changed and grew strong when she discovered that she didnt need to spend huge amounts of money on her home anymore now that the children had left and how she ensured that they had a safe place to come home to. She began preparing. Gillian and Adam. A young family with a small son. How they grew to love their bush retreat and prepare for what they knew would eventually change their world forever more. This story is purely fiction and is not intended to scare people into thinking that this will happen. It is merely my story and I hope readers enjoy it. I could not publish this book without technology. I was lucky to grow up in a time where we played outside with our friends until we were called home for tea. I am mindful that my grandchildren and most children cannot do this in the city today. Since I wrote my book, I have witnessed their births, and it is worrying that they must spend so much time indoors, necessary for them to access technology so that they can do their studies and be entertained. Necessary because the sun causes so much damage to their young skin. Technology is necessary and important, and without it, most of us cannot survive today. It does have great benefits, e.g., advances in medical science, communications with loved ones far away. Necessary for most of us to earn a living by using computers and driving vehicles. The younger generation has accepted this new way of life. I was totally amazed when I took my youngest grandson, then three, to visit an elderly neighbour who had his own vegetable garden and how amazed that young child was to see how the fruits and vegetables grew on bushes and trees.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1973, Richard Bangs founded Sobek Expeditions, the original and now the largest adventure travel company in the world, with over a million clients guided since its beginning. But this is not just a story of an unusual company, one that profoundly transformed the way we travel and experience the world. It presents true stories, both perilous and awe-inspiring, from the full array of adventure travel: trekking, climbing, sailing, diving, adventure cruising, kayaking, back-country skiing, mountaineering, biking, cultural immersions, canyoneering, and more. Sobek pioneered scores of adventures, from trekking in the Himalayas, to cruising the Galapagos and Antarctica, to first descents of some eighty rivers around the world. The author personally led thirty-five first river descents, capsizing on six continents (a unique, albeit dubious, distinction), and organized and led the first trips into North Korea, Libya, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, New Guinea, Iran, and even China back in 1978. Sobek clients have included Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Mick Jagger, Barry Diller, and Daryl Hannah. It is the shadow company behind National Geographic Adventures, New York Times Active Journeys, and Smithsonian Expeditions. This book traces fifty years of adventure travel and how it has evolved through times of war and peace, terrorism, the rise of the internet, the pandemic, and the first virtual expeditions.
