Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book of powerful stories about cancer patients and their families who have been touched by God in miraculous ways—some in their bodies, others in their minds, all in their spirits—offers inspiring testimony that, when God and cancer meet, cancer is conquered. The author, herself a cancer survivor, gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse of 18 personal encounters with God. Here's what others are saying about When God & Cancer Meet: “Lynn has captured the essence of hope in this book; captured hope in ways that I have always taught in my professional world as well as in my spiritual community. This book is a treasure to those who struggle with the fears of cancer and I want to keep it close at hand for those reasons.” —Judy Lentz, RN, MSN, OCN, NHA Executive Director, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association “I co-lead a cancer support group at my church, and we have been looking for “just the right book” to study and discuss. Guess what?! Lyn wrote it! I was truly touched by all the stories; of course being a cancer-survivor myself, I saw myself in one of the stories, as if Lyn were writing my own personal story. I was truly impressed with the way she incorporated scripture, and God's viewpoint into every story. I think that is of utmost importance for anyone facing this disease. Lyn's book is “Real-Life”; some quickly are healed of the cancer, some deal with it over a prolonged period, some deal with recurrences, some, mercifully, die rather quickly. I share Lyn's belief that GOD sometimes chooses to heal in different ways: physically, emotionally and spiritually. In the process of surviving a primary brain tumor, surgery, Chemo, and radiation, I gave my life to Christ, realizing that my physical health was not GOD's main concern, my Spiritual health was the biggest victim of a disease that needed attention and this was the way He FINALLY got my attention. Lyn's book alludes to this fact in every one of her stories. In this day and age that we are living, where it is against the rules to even mention GOD ( unless we mention His name in vain) it is refreshing to have a book written, praising Him for His care and concern for us; written by a woman who has experienced the disease firsthand, and continues to minister to others with cancer, and to work for a Doctor! who isn't ashamed of his Faith ! WOW!! Obviously, Lyn's book has my highest reccomendation, and my support group will be purchasing multple copies, and we plan to invite Lyn to speak with us. Lyn is a wonderful person, and I thank God for allowing our paths to cross. I'm sure this book will touch many lives, and give many a new perspective and hope with their cancer.” —Chris Winand, cancer survivor

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facing Cancer with CHRIST! is a journey of my life as I faced those dreaded words: "You have cancer!" This book will carry you down the road of all those negative thoughts that invade the mind and spirit. It will point out the fear factor, yet there is a power that is at our grips that can overcome that fear. It will focus on having faith when there is doubt. It will point that death is apparent, but that the end destination is such a reward that life will only feel temporary. This book will provide humor, reality, and yet all the ingredients of hope and assurance that only God can provide. It is my earnest prayer that it will encourage you in all areas of life that you will face when faced with the C-word. Just remember, Christ had victory over death at the cross, and He provides us all that we need when faced with this horrific illness. And if you have never accepted Christ as your personal savior, within this book, there is a path to salvation that will lead you to the foot of the cross where Christ stands waiting to receive you. Facing Cancer with CHRIST! was written to provide you and others hope when life seems overwhelming. It is designed to build trust when you feel alone. But most of all, it was written to build your faith that God will never forsake you even till the end of time.

Book excerpt: How are we as Christians called to respond when cancer invades our lives, whether our own bodies or those of our friends and family? On the eve of his own cancer surgery, John Piper writes about cancer as an opportunity to glorify God. With pastoral sensitivity, compassion, and strength, Piper gently but firmly acknowledges that we can indeed waste our cancer when we don't see how it is God's good plan for us and a hope-filled path for making much of Jesus. Don't Waste Your Cancer is for anyone touched by a life-threatening illness. It first appeared as an appendix in Suffering and the Sovereignty of God. Repackaged and republished, it will serve as a hope-giving resource for healthcare workers, pastors, counselors, and others caring for those with cancer and other serious illnesses. The booklets are also available in packs of ten.

Book excerpt: At the age of thirty-nine, Christian theologian Todd Billings was diagnosed with a rare form of incurable cancer. In the wake of that diagnosis, he began grappling with the hard theological questions we face in the midst of crisis: Why me? Why now? Where is God in all of this? This eloquently written book shares Billings's journey, struggle, and reflections on providence, lament, and life in Christ in light of his illness, moving beyond pat answers toward hope in God's promises. Theologically robust yet eminently practical, it engages the open questions, areas of mystery, and times of disorientation in the Christian life. Billings offers concrete examples through autobiography, cultural commentary, and stories from others, showing how our human stories of joy and grief can be incorporated into the larger biblical story of God's saving work in Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shares the great comfort of God's grace that is found in dealing with the news of cancer, illness or even death. Paul speaks of this in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ." Paul tells us God is the God of comfort and mercy through all tribulations and He gives that same comfort and mercy to His own. God's comfort and mercy is given to us so that we can share it with others. Within the pages of this book Ronald Daves shares God's comfort and mercy with empathy and compassion to those suffering and in need of God's comfort. He reveals the comfort he received in dealing with his own cancer and shares hope with those dealing with the news of cancer or illness in their own lives.

Each chapter opens with Scripture that reflects the theme of the day. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finding JOY in Cancer chronicles my battle with cancer, spanning approximately one year—from diagnosis to treatment to recovery. Throughout the book, I share plenty of stories from my life and some meaningful quotes as well as selected Bible verses. I was healthy and happy most of my life. At the age of fifty-two, I was diagnosed with leukemia. Although we beat leukemia, ever since then, I seemed to always be sick. About thirteen years later, cancer stuck its nose into my life. It was cancer of the throat. Thinking like a lifelong sport coach and coach educator, I knew I needed a game plan. I decided that for me to survive this fight with throat cancer, I needed a positive mindset and a game plan with God by my side. I knew I needed Him to help me through this adversity. My focus was to be on a bit of Scripture from James 1:2–3: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” How was I going to find JOY in cancer? Somehow God grabbed my heart and, in essence, said, “Come along with me, son.” I was determined to somehow find JOY in this killer. We fought it. We beat it. And I did find JOY throughout the entire cancer experience. That inspired me to share my story with others. The purpose is to communicate my experience to share how God took a hold of me and practically carried me through my treatment and recovery. It is hoped that this short book will allow the reader to think about how he or she might find JOY when encountering trials and adversity.

In this account you will find their very real responses to God's interventions and her treatment as they navigate through the ups and downs of this disease. From September 15: There are sacred and often frightening times in life in which we are up against our own mortality, and there's nowhere to flee except into the arms of God. It's here that we can touch, feel, and give gratitude for God's immense mercy. It's a place where there is no pretense and no bravado, just the soul touching God's mercy. In this we cry for God's help. What prevails here is God's purpose for us, and to that we cling. Bob Bevier Bob Bevier received his Doctor of Ministry degree in 1978.
