Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book distills twenty-five-plus years of personal study done by a Harvard Law-trained trial attorney to determine whether Darwin’s big idea—the notion that more complex species evolved from more simple ancestors—is supported by the scientific evidence. Spoiler alert: it is not. Yet most Americans have been taught to believe that Darwin’s theory has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt. Sadly, most people do not have nearly enough time to do the reading and study necessary to understand that this belief is false. This book changes all that. It is unique in that it presents technical information from more than a dozen important books in a form that is both brief and easily understood. Readers can learn a series of decisive truths about Darwin’s big idea in just a few hours...truths that may well take them completely by surprise.

Is there a supreme, intelligent energy source in the universe, able to determine such things? People of all cultures have posed these questions for millennia! Why are we so different from all other creatures? Even a well known professor and ardent evolutionist acknowledged “man has indeed, unique qualities.”

Book excerpt: Why should Christians concern themselves with the theory of evolution or intelligent design? After all, if we believe God created everything, what difference does it make if He created the world instantly or used the process of evolution to develop everything gradually over long ages? The theory of evolution is so widely accepted today because it is the only theory which can be legally taught in our public school system, which is a politically protected monopoly. We believe both true Science and the Bible support Intelligent Design. The purpose of this report is to examine the Theory of Evolution and consider the scientific evidence against it. We report. You decide.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 'Fables of Infidelity and Facts of Faith', Robert Patterson takes on the notable thinkers in history whom he thinks are responsible for the rise of heretical ideas, such as Charles Darwin and Thomas Paine, and denounces their ideas as a form of "infidelity to God". Patterson, while not presenting an argument for Christianity, examines the evidence of infidelity in the world and exposes the folly of various novel systems of ungodly religions. In one chapter, he argues against the theory of evolution and highlights its illogical and incoherent aspects. As he puts it, infidelity has taken on various forms, from scientific lectures to novels, magazines, and daily newspapers—and they have been successful at turning people away from God. Patterson's goal is to awaken the spirit of inquiry among readers and encourage them to prayerfully read works on the historical evidence of the truth of the gospel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Facts and Arguments for Darwin' is a non-fiction book penned by the German biologist, Fritz Müller. The book is meant to lay out Darwin's theory of evolution and natural selection at its present state, without picking one side over the other. As paraphrased from the book's preface: "The following pages do not aim to debate the pros and cons of Darwin's theory of the origin of species. Rather, they aim to present facts that support this theory, collected in South America where Darwin first got the idea to study "the origin of species." New and valuable material is needed to decide the controversy, and this is more important than reanalyzing what we already have. It is also fair to let Darwin defend his theory from his opponents before further examining it."

He concludes that God does not exist because the supernatural does not exist – and therefore God, an entity of the supernatural, also does not exist. He regards religion as the biggest hoax ever released on mankind. With his great erudition and critical reasoning, he will incite the reader to serious thought. The controversial topic will provoke a great deal of criticism and perhaps consequently contribute to clarification of the God’s problem. The main concern of the author remains the quest for truth from every possible angle. The book is a modern testament.

Book excerpt: The theory of evolution has been called 'the most powerful and the most comprehensive idea that has ever arisen on earth'. It has been so passionately argued and so heavily promoted in the mass media that millions of people with no scientific expertise assume it must be true. Evolutionism says that life on earth began by chance in some kind of chemical 'soup', and claims that Homo sapiens is the latest product of a vast sequence of species that led from the first living cell through invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, furry quadrupeds and ape like mammals. What is the evidence for this fascinating scenario? Can we prove that life began in this way? What are the odds against such a thing happening? Has archaeology found clear links between all species without limitation? Can we really show that all life forms owe their distinct existence to random, unplanned, accidental genetic changes? Or is there another explanation...?

Book excerpt: Volume I, entitled “Augmentation of Brain Functions: Brain-Machine Interfaces”, is a collection of articles on neuroprosthetic technologies that utilize brain-machine interfaces (BMIs). BMIs strive to augment the brain by linking neural activity, recorded invasively or noninvasively, to external devices, such as arm prostheses, exoskeletons that enable bipedal walking, means of communication and technologies that augment attention. In addition to many practical applications, BMIs provide useful research tools for basic science. Several articles cover challenges and controversies in this rapidly developing field, such as ways to improve information transfer rate. BMIs can be applied to the awake state of the brain and to the sleep state, as well. BMIs can augment action planning and decision making. Importantly, BMI operations evoke brain plasticity, which can have long-lasting effects. Advanced neural decoding algorithms that utilize optimal feedback controllers are key to the BMI performance. BMI approach can be combined with the other augmentation methods; such systems are called hybrid BMIs. Overall, it appears that BMI will lead to many powerful and practical brain-augmenting technologies in the future.
