Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. Fro over 90 years The Royal Society of chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic, and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Download or read book High Temperature Phenomena in Shock Waves written by Raymond Brun and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-24 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The high temperatures generated in gases by shock waves give rise to physical and chemical phenomena such as molecular vibrational excitation, dissociation, ionization, chemical reactions and inherently related radiation. In continuum regime, these processes start from the wave front, so that generally the gaseous media behind shock waves may be in a thermodynamic and chemical non-equilibrium state. This book presents the state of knowledge of these phenomena. Thus, the thermodynamic properties of high temperature gases, including the plasma state are described, as well as the kinetics of the various chemical phenomena cited above. Numerous results of measurement and computation of vibrational relaxation times, dissociation and reaction rate constants are given, and various ionization and radiative mechanisms and processes are presented. The coupling between these different phenomena is taken into account as well as their interaction with the flow-field. Particular points such as the case of rarefied flows and the inside of the shock wave itself are also examined. Examples of specific non-equilibrium flows are given, generally corresponding to those encountered during spatial missions or in shock tube experiments.

This book was released on 2024-07-20 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances and Technology Development in Greenhouse Gases: Emission, Capture and Conversion is a comprehensive seven-volume set of books that discusses the composition and properties of greenhouse gases, and introduces different sources of greenhouse gases emission and the relation between greenhouse gases and global warming. The comprehensive and detailed presentation of common technologies as well as novel research related to all aspects of greenhouse gases makes this work an indispensable encyclopedic resource for researchers in academia and industry.Volume 6 titled Methane, Nitrox Oxide, and Ozone Conversion and Applications studies the applications of any greenhouse gases (GHGs) other than carbon dioxide. This book reviews the applications of methane, nitrox oxide, and ozone. It investigates any valuable product fabricated with the inclusion of methane, nitrox oxide, and ozone. The book also reviews recent advances, the largest operating plants and pilots for methane conversion, the economic assessments and cost analysis, and environmental impacts and challenges that are faced when developing these processes - Introduces applications and chemicals produced from methane - Describes nitrous oxide conversion and applications - Discusses about various applications of ozone
Book Synopsis Multicomponent Transport Algorithms by : Alexandre Ern
Download or read book Multicomponent Transport Algorithms written by Alexandre Ern and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-10-10 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advent of sophisticated computer technology and the development of efficient computational algorithms, numerical modeling of complex multicomponent laminar reacting flows has emerged as an increasingly popular and firmly established area of scientific research. Progress in this area aims at obtaining better resolved and more accurate solutions of specific technological problems in less computer time. Therefore, it strongly relies upon the ability of evaluating fundamental parameters appearing in the physical models. Transport properties constitute a typical example of the above characterization. Evaluating transport coefficients of dilute polyatomic gas mixtures is often critical in many engineering applications, including chemical reactors, hypersonic flows, comb- tion phenomena, and chemical vapor deposition. Using the kinetic theory of dilute polyatomic gas mixtures as a starting point, this book offers a systematic development of a mathematical and numerical theory for the evaluation of transport properties in dilute polyatomic gas mixtures. The present investigation is not specifically.about the kinetic theory of gases, for which there are plenty of excellent and thoroughly do- mented textbooks; it is rather geared toward the development of new, efficient, and general algorithms with which to evaluate transport properties of dilute polyatomic gas mixtures at a reasonable computational cost.
