La conception des aides implique de déterminer le déclenchement, le contenu, la forme des messages en inférant l'information dont l'utilisateur a besoin au moment où il en a besoin. La démarche consiste à déterminer des indices de détection du besoin d'aide et à apporter une aide adaptée au besoin et à l'activité en cours. Deux approches ont été présentées : l'approche psychologique sur les aides en apprentissage et en résolution de problème et l'approche ergonomique sur les aides en interaction homme système. La détection du besoin d'aide et l'apport d'une aide pertinente impliquent la prise en compte de l'interaction entre le processus de prise de conscience du besoin d'aide et le contenu de l'aide apportée. Cinq expériences ont été réalisées afin d'améliorer la conception des aides adaptatives. Les deux premières expériences 1a et 1b concernaient l'étude de la prise de conscience des difficultés et des indices de détection en résolution de problème à espace fermé. L'expérience 2 était centrée sur le déclenchement, le type d'aide et l'expertise des utilisateurs dans une tâche de recherche d'informations avec un service informatique. L'aide adaptative (déclenchée lorsqu'une difficulté est détectée) était bénéfique par rapport à l'aide adaptable (fournie sur demande de l'utilisateur) sur la prise en main du service. L'expertise améliorait la détection du besoin d'aide et influençait l'effet du contenu des aides. Les novices bénéficiaient davantage des aides procédurales tandis que les experts bénéficiaient davantage des aides non procédurales. L'économie de temps d'apprentissage acquise par le guidage procédural a eu un effet néfaste sur la réussite du transfert. L'expérience 3 a confirmé le bénéfice des aides procédurales pour les novices dans une interaction avec un système de dialogue écrit en langage naturel. Dans l'expérience 4 où les aides étaient proposées et non imposées, les aides non procédurales ont incité les utilisateurs à adopter un comportement plus actif de diagnostic du besoin d'aide par rapport aux aides procédurales. Les propositions d'aide étaient très peu refusées. Enfin les résultats sont discutés suivant les questions posées au niveau psychologique et au niveau industriel. Les limites, les perspectives et les implications pour la conception des aides en interaction homme système sont présentées.

Book excerpt: Ce travail de recherche examine la possibilité d'intégration des principes de conception centrée utilisateurs dans un processus de conception de systèmes d'information interactifs (SII). L'approche de l'analyse de l'activité produit une description des stratégies d'utilisation de ce type de systèmes. Cette description doit servir de base afin de spécifier le système à développer. L'hypothèse avancée est que pour réussir leur intégration, les données d'une analyse des usages doivent être représentées dans un formalisme le plus proche possible du langage de développement. Afin de réaliser cette intégration nous avons mis au point la méthode RAMSES. RAMSES propose une méthodologie centrée utilisateur de conception de SII en cinq étapes: recueil des données, analyse des données recueillies, modélisation du système s'appuyant sur les flux d'information, spécification et évaluation des spécifications. Cette méthode a été appliquée à la conception d'un système d'information voyageurs multimodal (SIVM). En premier lieu, nous avons étudié le domaine d'application du système à concevoir: l'information multimodale des voyageurs de transports en commun confrontés à une perturbation du trafic. Nous avons construit et mis en œuvre la méthodologie de recueil et d'analyse des besoins des usagers dans différentes situations nominales et perturbées. Afin de modéliser les données recueillies, nous avons adopté un paradigme de représentation à base d'objets et de relations qui représentent les acteurs, les sites, les outils et leurs interactions. Nous avons construit un modèle générique des connaissances acquises lors de l'analyse des besoins des utilisateurs. Ce modèle a, par la suite, été transcrit dans le formalisme UML à des fins de spécification du système à concevoir. Dans la dernière partie, nous avons implémenté une application informatique basée sur ce modèle. Cette application est un outil d'aide à la conception visant à assister la validation des spécifications du système d'information interactif à concevoir.
