Book Synopsis Umstrittene Katholizität: Von der zwiespältigen Beziehung zwischen Vielfalt und Einheit – Catholicity under Pressure: The Ambiguous Relationship between Diversity and Unity by : Dagmar Heller
Download or read book Umstrittene Katholizität: Von der zwiespältigen Beziehung zwischen Vielfalt und Einheit – Catholicity under Pressure: The Ambiguous Relationship between Diversity and Unity written by Dagmar Heller and published by Evangelische Verlagsanstalt. This book was released on 2016-04-02 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In many contexts the attribute "catholic" is misunderstood as a confessional term describing one specific church. The papers of the 18th Academic Consultation of Societas Oecumenica presented in this book give insights to the ecumenical significance of the "catholicity", which all churches confess in the Creed. They also take into consideration the tensions between unity and diversity as well as the challenges by new developments in worldwide Christianity.
Book Synopsis A Historical Theology of the Hebrew Bible by : Konrad Schmid
Download or read book A Historical Theology of the Hebrew Bible written by Konrad Schmid and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-09 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this meticulously researched study, Konrad Schmid offers a historical clarification of the concept of “theology.” He then examines the theologies of the three constituent parts of the Hebrew Bible—the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings— before tracing how these theological concepts developed throughout the history of ancient Israel and early Judaism. Schmid not only explores the theology of the biblical books in isolation, but he also offers unifying principles and links between the distinct units that make up the Hebrew Bible. By focusing on both the theology of the whole Hebrew Bible as well as its individual pieces, A Historical Theology of the Hebrew Bible provides a comprehensive discussion of theological work within the Hebrew Bible.

Book excerpt: This third volume of ASNEL Papers covers a wide range of theoretical and thematic approaches to the subject of intertextuality. Intertextual relations between oral and written versions of literature, text and performance, as well as problems emerging from media transitions, regionally instructed forms of intertextuality, and the works of individual authors are equally dealt with. Intertextuality as both a creative and a critical practice frequently exposes the essential arbitrariness of literary and cultural manifestations that have become canonized. The transformation and transfer of meanings which accompanies any crossing between texts rests not least on the nature of the artistic corpus embodied in the general framework of historically and socially determined cultural traditions. Traditions, however, result from selective forms of perception; they are as much inventions as they are based on exclusion. Intertextuality leads to a constant reinforcement of tradition, while, at the same time, intertextual relations between the new literatures and other English-language literatures are all too obvious. Despite the inevitable impact of tradition, the new literatures tend to employ a dynamic reading of culture which fosters social process and transition, thus promoting transcultural rather than intercultural modes of communication. Writing and reading across borders becomes a dialogue which reveals both differences and similarities. More than a decolonizing form of deconstruction, intertextuality is a strategy for communicating meaning across cultural boundaries.
Book Synopsis Evangelien-harmonien des Mittelalters by : August den Hollander
Download or read book Evangelien-harmonien des Mittelalters written by August den Hollander and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. This book was released on 2015-03-26 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the Reformation in the sixteenth century, Lutheran traditions have impacted culture and politics in many societies. At the same time, Lutheran belief has had an effect on personal faith, morality, and ethics. Modern society, however, is quite different from that at the time of the Reformation. How should we evaluate Lutheran tradition in today's Western multicultural and post-Christian society? Is it possible to develop a Lutheran theological position that can be regarded as reasonable in a society that evidences a considerable weakening of the role of Christianity? What are the challenges raised by cultural diversity for a Lutheran theology and ethics? Is it possible to develop a Lutheran identity in a multicultural society, and isthere any fruitful Lutheran contribution to the coexistence of diff erent religious and non-religious traditions in the future?
