Ziel der Hausarbeit ist es, auf Basis eines analytisch-erklärenden Erkenntnisinteresses, zu untersuchen, ob beziehungsweise inwieweit eine ungleiche Ressourcenausstattung bzw. eine soziale Ungleichheit die politische Partizipation der Menschen in Deutschland beeinflusst. Für eine Teilnahme an Prozessen der politischen Willensbildung und Entscheidung müssen die BürgerInnen über bestimmte individuelle Ressourcen verfügen. „Die empirische Partizipationsforschung (hat) immer wieder festgestellt, dass für alle Formen politischer Beteiligung eine selektive Rekrutierung der ressourcenstarken Teile der Bevölkerung erfolgt“ (van Deth 2009, S. 154). Zahlreiche Studien konnten diesen direkten Zusammenhang zwischen der sozialen Ungleichheit auf der einen Seite und dem Partizipationsverhalten auf der anderen Seite bestätigen. Aus dem Erkenntnisinteresse und den empirischen Befunden der Partizipationsforschung wurde folgende empirisch-analytische Fragestellung abgeleitet: Welchen Einfluss hat eine ungleiche Ressourcenausstattung bzw. eine soziale Ungleichheit auf die politische Partizipation der Menschen in Deutschland? Die politikwissenschaftliche Relevanz der Fragestellung liegt in der Bedeutung einer aktiven Teilnahme der Bevölkerung an Prozessen der politischen Willensbildung und Entscheidung für die Demokratie, denn „Citizen participation is at the heart of democracy. (...) Political participation provides the mechanism by which citizens can communicate information about their interests, preferences, and needs and generate pressure to respond“ (Verba u.a. 1995, S. 1).

Nicht mehr die Beteiligung der Burger an Wah len, sondern die Teilnahme an politischen Demonstrationen, der Griff zu zivilem Unge horsam und politischer Gewalt standen im Mittelpunkt des Interesses. Die Studie 'Political action' hat das politische Verhalten von Burgern in acht westlichen Indu striegesellschaften urn die Mitte der siebziger Jahre untersucht. Die darin postulierte Gliederung politischer Verhaltensweisen in konventionelle und unkonventionelle Formen hat breite Aufnahme gefunden. Nicht nur unkonventionelle Massenbewegungen, son dern auch der Linksterrorismus fUhrtcn in der Bundesrepublik zu einer starken Bela stung des politischen Systems. Das terroristische Handeln stand im Mittelpunkt des Forschungsvorhabens 'Ursachenforschung Terrorismus' des Bundesministers des Innern. Innerhalb dieser Forschung untersuchte das Projekt 'Jugend und Staat' Motivationsmu ster bei jungeren Burgern, die zu Systemfeindschaft und politischer Illcgalitiit fuhren. Die vorliegende Studie soli einen Beitrag zur Frage der Struktierung politischer Par tizipationsformen liefern. Die Interpretation politischcr Aktivitiiten als konventionell oder unkonventionell wird kritisch hinterfragt.

With unification as a nation state under Bismarck in 1871, Germany experienced the advent of mass politics, based on the principle of one man, one vote. The dynamic, diverse political culture that emerged challenged the adaptability of the 'interlocking directorate of the Right.' To serve as a bulwark of the authoritarian state, the Right needed to exploit traditional sources of power while mobilizing new political recruits, but until Emperor Wilhelm II's abdication in 1918 these aims could not easily be reconciled. In The German Right, 1860-1920, James Retallack examines how the authoritarian imagination inspired the Right and how political pragmatism constrained it. He explores the Right's regional and ideological diversity, and refuses to privilege the 1890s as the tipping point when the traditional politics of notables gave way to mass politics. Retallack also challenges the assumption that, if Imperial Germany was modern, it could not also have been authoritarian. Written with clear, persuasive prose, this wide-ranging analysis draws together threads of reasoning from German and Anglo-American scholars over the past 30 years and points the way for future research into unexplored areas.

Vinzenz Kratzer analyses the Federal Office's research output between 2005 and 2015 with a joint perspective of Ethnography and Political Science. In the wake of political reforms after the »paradigm change« around the turn of the millennium, the development of practically relevant knowledge can be traced. While governmental researchers were able to establish themselves in the bureaucracy with some success, they bought this influence with uncontroversial, depoliticized knowledge production, while the production of seemingly politically irrelevant knowledge - most importantly on racism and discrimination - is underdeveloped.
