Book Synopsis Vibration of solids and structures under moving loads by : L. Frýba

This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transport engineering structures are subjected to loads that vary in both time and space. In general mechanics parlance such loads are called moving loads. It is the aim of the book to analyze the effects of this type of load on various elements, components, structures and media of engineering me chanics. In recent years all branches of transport have experienced great advances characterized by increasingly higher speeds and weights of vehicles. As a result, structures and media over or in which the vehicles move have been subjected to vibrations and dynamic stresses far larger than ever before. The author has studied vibrations of elastic and inelastic bodies and structures under the action of moving loads for many years. In the course of his career he has published a number of papers dealing with various aspects of the problem. On the strength of his studies he has arrived at the conclusion that the topic has so grown in scope and importance as to merit a comprehensive treatment. The book is the outcome of his attempt to do so in a single monograph.

Book Synopsis Dynamic Impact Factors for Bridges by : David I. McLean
Download or read book Dynamic Impact Factors for Bridges written by David I. McLean and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 1998 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This synthesis will be of interest to state department of transportation and consulting bridge, structural, and research engineers. The synthesis describes the current state of the practice for determining dynamic impact factors for bridges. Information for the synthesis was collected by surveying U.S. and Canadian transportation agencies and by conducting a literature search using domestic and foreign sources. This report of the Transportation Research Board documents relevant background and recent information with regard to vehicular dynamic load effects on bridges. It provides details on the basic concepts of bridge dynamics, including identification of the main variables affecting bridge dynamic response. In addition, current code provisions for accounting for vehicular dynamic load effects for new bridge design and load evaluation of existing bridges are reported, including a discussion on the background of the provisions. Finally, a discussion of observed field problems associated with vehicular dynamic load effects, as obtained from the survey, are included.
