Book excerpt: This book is based on the principles of mnemonics and laws of controlled association, and if you apply the principle you will be able to bestride both the world of memory, and world of knowledge simultaneously, giving yourself greater self-confidence, a growing mastery of imagination, improved creativity, and vastly improved perceptual skills. In fact, education system has created pressure on students in which memory, the technique, by Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, can provide some rescue. -Dr. A.K. Sharma (Former Director, NCERT) The greatest mystery of life is our ignorance of human brain. In fact, brain is not a dustbin, but a gateway to some higher attainment. This demonstration today by Biswaroop is an assurance that not everything is lost in the civilization. -Justice M.N. Venkatachelliah (Former Chief Justice of India) Biswaroop's memory technique is surely a help for overburdened students. -Prof. (Dr.) G.R. Sunder (Registrar of Bhartlya Vidya Bhawan) Biswaroop's technique should be a part of school curriculum. -IPS Kiran Bedi Biswaroop's student, Ms. Neerja from Meerut, could recollect the exact details of last six months' issue of India Today. -Hindustan Times. 15 May 2003

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roger Schank's influential book, Dynamic Memory, described how computers could learn based upon what was known about how people learn. Since that book's publication in 1982, Dr Schank has turned his focus from artificial intelligence to human intelligence. Dynamic Memory Revisited contains the theory of learning presented in the original book, extending it to provide principles for teaching and learning. It includes Dr Schank's important theory of case-based reasoning and assesses the role of stories in human memory. In addition, it covers his ideas on non-conscious learning, indexing, and the cognitive structures that underlie learning by doing. Dynamic Memory Revisited is crucial reading for all who are concerned with education and school reform. It draws attention to how effective learning takes place and provides instruction for developing software that truly helps students learn.

Book excerpt: Because of their widespread use in mainframes, PCs, and mobile audio and video devices, DRAMs are being manufactured in ever increasing volume, both in stand-alone and in embedded form as part of a system on chip. Due to the optimum design of their components—access transistor, storage capacitor, and peripherals—DRAMs are the cheapest and densest semiconductor memory currently available. As a result, most of DRAM structure research and development focuses on the technology used for its constituent components and their interconnections. However, only a few books are available on semiconductor memories in general and fewer on DRAMs. Dynamic RAM: Technology Advancements provides a holistic view of the DRAM technology with a systematic description of the advancements in the field since the 1970s, and an analysis of future challenges. Topics Include: DRAM cells of all types, including planar, three-dimensional (3-D) trench or stacked, COB or CUB, vertical, and mechanically robust cells using advanced transistors and storage capacitors Advancements in transistor technology for the RCAT, SCAT, FinFET, BT FinFET, Saddle and advanced recess type, and storage capacitor realizations How sub 100 nm trench DRAM technologies and sub 50 nm stacked DRAM technologies and related topics may lead to new research Various types of leakages and power consumption reduction methods in active and sleep mode Various types of SAs and yield enhancement techniques employing ECC and redundancy A worthwhile addition to semiconductor memory research, academicians and researchers interested in the design and optimization of high-density and cost-efficient DRAMs may also find it useful as part of a graduate-level course.

With this practical book, you’ll learn how pointers provide the mechanism to dynamically manipulate memory, enhance support for data structures, and enable access to hardware. Author Richard Reese shows you how to use pointers with arrays, strings, structures, and functions, using memory models throughout the book. Difficult to master, pointers provide C with much flexibility and power—yet few resources are dedicated to this data type. This comprehensive book has the information you need, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced C or C++ programmer or developer. Get an introduction to pointers, including the declaration of different pointer types Learn about dynamic memory allocation, de-allocation, and alternative memory management techniques Use techniques for passing or returning data to and from functions Understand the fundamental aspects of arrays as they relate to pointers Explore the basics of strings and how pointers are used to support them Examine why pointers can be the source of security problems, such as buffer overflow Learn several pointer techniques, such as the use of opaque pointers, bounded pointers and, the restrict keyword

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How the way we hold knowledge about the past—in books, in file folders, in databases—affects the kind of stories we tell about the past. The way we record knowledge, and the web of technical, formal, and social practices that surrounds it, inevitably affects the knowledge that we record. The ways we hold knowledge about the past—in handwritten manuscripts, in printed books, in file folders, in databases—shape the kind of stories we tell about that past. In this lively and erudite look at the relation of our information infrastructures to our information, Geoffrey Bowker examines how, over the past two hundred years, information technology has converged with the nature and production of scientific knowledge. His story weaves a path between the social and political work of creating an explicit, indexical memory for science—the making of infrastructures—and the variety of ways we continually reconfigure, lose, and regain the past. At a time when memory is so cheap and its recording is so protean, Bowker reminds us of the centrality of what and how we choose to forget. In Memory Practices in the Sciences he looks at three "memory epochs" of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries and their particular reconstructions and reconfigurations of scientific knowledge. The nineteenth century's central science, geology, mapped both the social and the natural world into a single time package (despite apparent discontinuities), as, in a different way, did mid-twentieth-century cybernetics. Both, Bowker argues, packaged time in ways indexed by their information technologies to permit traffic between the social and natural worlds. Today's sciences of biodiversity, meanwhile, "database the world" in a way that excludes certain spaces, entities, and times. We use the tools of the present to look at the past, says Bowker; we project onto nature our modes of organizing our own affairs.
