Book excerpt: A key factor in comprehending the prophetic landscape of the end times is to recognize the specific, prominent nations that will be involved. In the Scriptures, these nations are depicted in allegorical form, and for literally thousands of years, students of the word of God have labored to discern the identity and meaning of the four beasts (Daniel 7), the elements of Nebuchadnezzar’s image (Daniel 2), and the seven heads of the Dragon (Revelation 17). Many speculations and interpretations continue to be made, yet to this day, there is still a great amount of uncertainty regarding these prophecies. The Time of the End I provided the Scriptural foundation for a 10 ½ year timeline of the last days, and like the border pieces of a puzzle, this new perspective has provided new insight into the broader picture of prophecy. The Time of the End II sheds light upon and unlocks the concealed identifications of the Lion, the Bear, and the Leopard (Daniel 7), the feet and toes of Nebuchadnezzar’s image (Daniel 2), the seven heads of the Dragon, and how those nations relate to the four horns (Zechariah 1), the four carpenters (Zechariah 1), the four horsemen of the Apocalypse (Revelation 6), and the movements throughout history of Mystery Babylon (Revelation 17). Like its predecessor, The Time of the End II confidently rearranges some of the more popular and accepted ‘puzzle pieces’ of prophecy, and emerges with a notably different picture, one that is far more consistent with a literal interpretation of the Scriptures.

Book excerpt: Dragons with Clay Feet? presents state-of-the-art research on the impact of ongoing and anticipated economic policy and institutional reforms on agricultural development and sustainable rural resource in two East-Asian transition (and developing) economies—China and Vietnam. The contributions to this volume focus on the regional and sectoral impact of transformational policies, farm household decision making under a changing economic and institutional environment, and potential trade-offs between agricultural growth and sustainable land management in the two countries. The analysis of household responses to economic policies and changing institution, and their implications for agricultural production and sustainable resource use in East-Asian transition economies, is a relatively new research field. This collection by a group of Chinese, Vietnamese, and international researchers reflect the rapid progress that is being made in this important research field.

Book excerpt: Miriam and Xander’s halcyon days of rest along the shores of Beriadan Lake in Alexandria come to a quick end when the pleas of another dragon lord lead them to the blackened Heavy Mountains. Lord Herod demands their attentions on a pressing matter, and what they find is a pot of trouble boiling over with ancient blood feuds, uneasy alliances, and old stories of treacherous Maidens. Trouble comes along the winds of a storm, and Miriam finds herself in the middle of it. Now she must prove her innocence against a hefty charge, or face the fatal consequences. The trail leads them to the Coven Caves where witches cast more than their shadows on the walls. One life-attempt after another shows they’re on the right trail, but only if they can stay one step ahead of their mysterious foes. Otherwise, the mountains will be their final adventure. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two prominent features of the current global economy are the world-wide recession brought about by the recent financial crisis, and the emergence of major economic powers from within the developing world such as Brazil, China and India. The former represents the failure of global regulatory policies and macroeconomic imbalances between surplus and deficit countries; the latter is symptomatic of a partial shift in economic power towards developing nations, who are often collectively labelled the global South. The macroeconomic imbalances are unsustainable in the longer run as they mean greater absorption relative to income in deficit nations; they require corrective action and international policy coordination. Reducing imbalances also requires large developing countries to raise their domestic consumption and also imports from the rest of the world and international financial institutions to operate as a lender of last resort. Furthermore, the engines of global growth, especially for developing countries, may no longer lie solely in the traditional developed country markets in the USA, Europe and Japan, known collectively as the global North. Rather South-South trade is growing rapidly, and that could be an engine of growth for the global economy, including both developed and developing countries. The various chapters in this edited volume address issues surrounding global imbalances and the prospects for growth in developing countries propelled by South-South interaction. This book should be of interest to students and researchers focussing on political economics, international economics, globalization, global imbalance and the world-wide recession after 2008.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Daniel 2 reveals by symbols the successive empires/kingdoms of the world with a statue of a human figure of a head of gold, chest of silver, thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of a mixture of clay and iron. Daniel 7, which describes four beasts (a lion, a bear, a leopard, and a terrible beast with ten horns), covers the same period in world history as in chapter 2. While the king of Babylon saw the majestic power and grandeur of the Gentile empire/kingdoms, Prophet Daniel saw their real character, beastly conduct, wicked rule, and profligate government. All the beasts (empire/kingdoms) were destroyed by the Messiah, Immanuel (the Stone), who the builders of the nations of man rejected and who is the cornerstone of the holy nation of believers. Revelation 12 describes the great dragon thrown down, the age-old serpent that is called the devil and Satan, he who continually deceives and seduces the entire inhabited world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. This usurping dragon would form successive compacts with mankind for the dominion of the earth. Revelation 13 shows the final compact between the nations of man and the man of sin, Satan (the dragons beasts), engulfing even the holy people (Israel, the churchthe woman on the beast in Revelation 17). When the stone finally destroyed the lawless kings of the nations/kingdoms, their rule was dispersed to the lots of nation-states created by the common peoplethe rule of commoners. These are the nation-states of democratically elected commoners. Revelation 13 (and 17) shows the rebellion and apostasy of our Christendom/Queendom of Babylon, the great nation-states of man setting themselves up against the son of man, Immanuel. Why the stone is about to crush Christendom of Babylon the great! And the stone that smote the image became a great mountain or rock and filled the whole earth (Daniel 2:3435). Yes, he is the rock of ages!

Like that famous, awfully candid child, I’m here to shout what the reader ought to see in this nifty and unique new book. The Moon and The Dragon brings to light the sureness of the Oriental soul! Serene and fiery at the same time, every word is bound together with silken ties of love and thoughts that add to a fuller, more rewarding appreciation of Ashanti’s “cherry blossoms”; “morning dance of Mother Earth’s prayers” and humanity’s struggle for peace and freedom. What an artistic, courageous triumph-whew! JULIE O’YANG Novelist & Visual Artist Amsterdam, Netherlands As I read, I find that Mr. Ashanti is a master poet and a prolific writer. Mr. Ashanti carefully has crafted the long standing struggles and repression on the mainland of China, as well as the trials and tribulations of Chinese-Americans. With extensive and accurate research on Chinese culture and mythology infused together he conjures a substantial and impressive collaboration of immense passionate writing. The Moon and The Dragon depicts a very expressive descriptive poetical outlet of hardships endured yet enriches a full immersion of Asian culture–specifically Chinese. TINA CHAN Poet--New York, NY

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "What is your opinion about the meaning of Bible prophecy? Is the book of Revelation a prophecy about the future of this earth that is still yet to come -- or is it prophecy that has mostly already been fulfi lled through this passing Christian Age? Christians living in our world today are familiar with the many futuristic interpretations of the prophetic books of the Bible that have been offered to us by the publishing industry -- especially some of the wild and radical interpretations of the Book of Revelation. There are rivers turning to blood, stars falling to the earth, a ""last chance to go to heaven"" theology, and on and on it goes. Every few years, as the passing history of our world takes new turns, these predictions that are supposedly based upon Bible prophecy have to be revised again and again to make them suit the changing world scene. This means that there were some wrong interpretations somewhere along the line. But there is a better way. Before the middle of the 20th century when futurism developed such an amazing acceptance into the Christian community, there was another method of interpretation that was very prominent called ""historicist"". This simply means that the Book of Revelation is really prophecy about events that have been happening for about 2,000 years now, and that agree in description and in timely order with the chapters of Revelation. The same is true with much of the Book of Daniel. Loren Wilson, with his academic background in history and his preaching experience as a pastor, has updated the writings of the old historicist Bible commentators by including events of the 20th and 21st centuries into the mix. The results may change your perspective of what Daniel and Revelation is all about."
