Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es zu erforschen, wie das Thema sexueller Missbrauch in der Kindheit in der modernen Psychologie behandelt wird und welche Erkenntnisse über die Folgen von solch einem Missbrauch für die männlichen Opfer vorhanden sind. Zu diesem Zweck wird als erstes auf die Definitionen von sexuellem Missbrauch sowie die Prävalenzzahlen eingegangen. Es folgt ein Anriss der historischen Diskussion in der Psychoanalyse über den Zusammenhang von Hysterie und sexuellem Missbrauch, die von Freud 1896 angeregt wurde. Um den möglichen Zusammenhang zwischen körperlichen Symptomen und Missbrauch zu veranschaulichen, wird Enkopresis (Einkoten) detailliert vorgestellt und unter verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachtet. Im Anschluss wird auf konkrete Erkenntnisse der klinischen Forschung der letzten Jahre eingegangen, die den Zusammenhang zwischen Missbrauchserfahrungen von Jungen und die Krankheitsbilder der Borderline-Persönlichkeitsstörung sowie posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung, untersuchen. Am Ende werden Anregungen für künftige Forschungsbereiche gesammelt. Belastungen in der Kindheit durch sexuellen Missbrauch, Misshandlung und Vernachlässigung können zu langfristigen psychischen und somatischen Konsequenzen auch im Erwachsenenalter führen. Pillhofer et al. (2011) sammeln Ergebnisse sowohl von der polizeilichen Kriminalstatistik in Deutschland als auch von wissenschaftlichen Meta-Analysen und kommen zu dem Schluss, dass die jährlich angemeldeten Straftaten sich unterhalb der 1%-Grenze bewegen. Dennoch spricht die Lebenszeitprävalenz in retrospektiven Befragungen für >10% Vorkommen in der Bevölkerung. Eine umfassende Meta-Analyse von Stoltenborgh et al. (2011) versucht, die Statistik auf die ganze Weltbevölkerung bezogen zu ermitteln, und spricht von einer Prävalenz von 127 sexuell missbrauchte Kinder pro 1000 Kinder aus Selbstberichte und 4/1000 in Auskunftsstudien. Weitere Ergebnisse zeigen auch, dass global gesehen mehr Frauen als Männer von sexuellem Missbrauch in ihrer Kindheit berichten. Sowohl in den Media als auch in der Forschung liegt der Fokus auf den weiblichen Opfern. Allerdings, stellen männliche Opfer laut Angaben aus der polizeilichen Statistik rund ein Viertel aller Opfer sexuellen Missbrauchs in der Kindheit dar, was nicht wenig ist.

With remarkable consistency, numerous investigations have demonstrated an inverse correlation between social class and prevalence rates for most forms of psychopathology. The debate on the interpreta tion of these findings - social causation versus social selection processes - continues to this day. Moreover, the question as to what the psychoso cial processes are through which social class and individual psychopa thology are mediated has remained mostly unanswered. The concept of social stress may well provide new insights in this regard. One should note, in particular, the considerable conceptual and methodological progress made in life event research. Recently, the first attempts have been made to link the two concepts of social class and social stress. These developments will be retraced in this book in the light of new investigations. Descriptive epidemiological studies on the relation between social class and psychiatric disorders form the point of depar ture. Explicit reference is made to two classical studies in psychiatric epidemiology: Faris and Dunham's Chicago study and the New Haven study by Hollingshead and Redlich. Following on from there, various approaches in analytical epidemiological research are presented which attempt to determine whether - or, more precisely, to what extent - social causation or social selection processes can be said to be responsible for the higher rates of psychiatric disorders in lower social strata.
