If they fail then an ancient pestilence will rise to engulf the world again and all hope may be lost, for all time. They are reluctant warriors at best but he must convince them to at least try and rid the world of the contagion of evil. If you have doubts about the existence of inherent evil, or where it comes from, you will have no doubts when you finish the last page of this engrossing novel. There are surprising plot twists and unexpected turns in the path from then until now and the present is not as it is perceived to be. The journey is - as life is lived - unpredictable.
