Book Synopsis Statistical Analysis of Network Data by : Eric D. Kolaczyk
Download or read book Statistical Analysis of Network Data written by Eric D. Kolaczyk and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-04-20 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there has been an explosion of network data – that is, measu- ments that are either of or from a system conceptualized as a network – from se- ingly all corners of science. The combination of an increasingly pervasive interest in scienti c analysis at a systems level and the ever-growing capabilities for hi- throughput data collection in various elds has fueled this trend. Researchers from biology and bioinformatics to physics, from computer science to the information sciences, and from economics to sociology are more and more engaged in the c- lection and statistical analysis of data from a network-centric perspective. Accordingly, the contributions to statistical methods and modeling in this area have come from a similarly broad spectrum of areas, often independently of each other. Many books already have been written addressing network data and network problems in speci c individual disciplines. However, there is at present no single book that provides a modern treatment of a core body of knowledge for statistical analysis of network data that cuts across the various disciplines and is organized rather according to a statistical taxonomy of tasks and techniques. This book seeks to ll that gap and, as such, it aims to contribute to a growing trend in recent years to facilitate the exchange of knowledge across the pre-existing boundaries between those disciplines that play a role in what is coming to be called ‘network science.

Book Synopsis Contributions to Statistics by : P. C. Mahalanobis
Download or read book Contributions to Statistics written by P. C. Mahalanobis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributions to Statistics focuses on the processes, methodologies, and approaches involved in statistics. The book is presented to Professor P. C. Mahalanobis on the occasion of his 70th birthday. The selection first offers information on the recovery of ancillary information and combinatorial properties of partially balanced designs and association schemes. Discussions focus on combinatorial applications of the algebra of association matrices, sample size analogy, association matrices and the algebra of association schemes, and conceptual statistical experiments. The book then examines lattice sampling by means of Lahiri's sampling scheme; contributions of interpenetrating networks of samples; and apparently unconnected problems encountered in sampling work. The publication takes a look at screening processes, place of the design of experiments in the logic of scientific inference, and rarefaction. Topics include mathematical probability, scientific experience, combinatorial progress, gains and losses, criterion and scores, simple drug screening process, and screening of crop varieties. The manuscript then reviews the estimation and interpretation of gross differences and the simple response variance; partially balanced asymmetrical factorial designs; and approximation of distributions of sums of independent summands by infinitely divisible distributions. The selection is a dependable reference for statisticians and researchers interested in the processes, methodologies, and approaches employed in statistics.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent Advances in Statistical Research and Data Analysis is a collection of papers presented at the symposium of the same name, held in Tokyo by the Center for Information on Statistical Science of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (ISM). Under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, the ISM has created visiting professorships and organized symposia to promote collaboration between researchers from Japan and those from other countries. At the symposium on recent advances in statistical research and data analysis, the keynote speaker was Visiting Professor Anthony J. Hayter. This book includes Prof. Hayter's address as well as papers from special lectures that were presented at the symposium. All the contributions are concerned with theory and methodology for real data and thus will benefit researchers, students, and others engaged in data analysis.
Book Synopsis Statistical Analysis and Data Display by : Richard M. Heiberger
Download or read book Statistical Analysis and Data Display written by Richard M. Heiberger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 739 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This presentation of statistical methods features extensive use of graphical displays for exploring data and for displaying the analysis. The authors demonstrate how to analyze data—showing code, graphics, and accompanying computer listings. They emphasize how to construct and interpret graphs, discuss principles of graphical design, and show how tabular results are used to confirm the visual impressions derived from the graphs. Many of the graphical formats are novel and appear here for the first time in print.
Book Synopsis Contributions to Correlational Analysis by : Robert J. Wherry
Download or read book Contributions to Correlational Analysis written by Robert J. Wherry and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributions to Correlational Analysis provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of correlational analysis that can be used to replace and enhance many of the parametric and nonparametric inferential statistical tests. This book discusses the basic concern of correctional analysis, which is the relationship between two sets of measure. Organized into 18 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the nature of correction analysis. This text then explains the simple linear relationships in which explains the simple linear relationships in which Y and X each consists of some single measurement per person and the relationship is assumed to be linear. Other chapters consider basic ways of expanding the process to include more or different measurements of either X or Y but with no attempt to find the best functions. This book discusses as well the topic of factor analysis. The final chapter deals with canonical correlation. This book is a valuable resource for psychologists.
