The purpose of the study was to assess the training needs of the CBR workers providing services to children with cerebral palsy in rural India. Two overarching themes were identified: training content and training process. Four themes were identified with respect to the content of training: a need for further training on assessment, further training on parent/guardian counseling, increased knowledge on occupational therapy (OT) services, and increased awareness of current policies and best practices. In relation to training process, three themes were identified: a need for hands-on training, need for feedback and debriefing sessions, and need for resources for future reference. Need for better documentation, and knowledge of health and nutrition were identified by the administrators. Need for positioning and an ongoing need for OT services were observed by the researcher, an occupational therapy graduate student. Home-based interventions were identified as most applicable form of intervention.
