Book excerpt: Well, can't a clever Sulphur Crested Cockatoo named Cockie have fun! Meet Cockie, who spent his youth a long way from the city, living with a loving family. Cockie is cheeky, naughty, intelligent, and has a wonderful memory and sense of humour. He has the freedom to fly away wherever, whenever he wants. Yet he doesn't. His life is nothing but fun, (for him), yet expensive and embarrassing for Peter, his best mate and landlord. Cockie never bites his human hosts, but his beak gets him into a whole lot of trouble. So does his tail end, when he perches on top of the chimney above the cooking pot! Welcome to life in the bush through the eyes of a crafty Cockatoo. I bet you can't help but snigger here and there at his cheeky antics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story about two pet cockatoos named Todi and Quincey. Todi was acquired in South Bend, Indiana and was a well known pet at Mr. Friendly's Pet Shop in South Bend. She was so sweet and when the author first met her she knew from the start she was in love. Todi has been a special pet for years almost 30 years. Her adventures start in a 3 person household when she was brought home as a pet around the Easter time of year in 1980. She did tricks and talked. It was pure love for the pet owners, as she did scream loudly, as a typical cockatoo does. She acquired a brother Quincey Vincent Cockatoo, from an Amish household in Goshen, Indiana. He turned out to be the mean one in the family, as he did not have a sweet nature but he did love women, only women. He grew to hate men and other pets as well. But he becomes a hero when he chases a burglar away. Quincey's trip to the bird show shows how birds are like children and do not always behave. He embarrassed the family when he was taken to a bird show to perform and show off his feathers. He decided he would not perform.

Book excerpt: Curtis Warren is an underworld legend, the Liverpool scally who took the methods of the street-corner drug pusher and elevated them to an art form. He forged direct links with the cocaine cartels of Colombia, the heroin godfathers of Turkey, the cannabis growers of Morocco and the ecstasy labs of Holland and Eastern Europe. His drugs went around the world, from the clubs of Manchester and Glasgow to the beaches of Sydney, Australia. His underlings called him the "Cocky Watchman". His pursuers called him "Target One". This best-selling autobiography uncovers his meteoric rise to become "the richest and most successful British criminal who has ever been caught".It relates how the Liverpool Mafia became the UK's foremost drug importers; tells how Warren corrupted top-level police officers; unveils the inside story of the biggest joint law enforcement investigation ever undertaken; and reveals the explosive contents of the covert wiretaps that brought his global empire crashing down. COCKY is a shocking insight into modern organised crime and a vivid account of the workings of the international drugs trade.
Book Synopsis Evangelist Caper by : Richard A. Malta
Download or read book Evangelist Caper written by Richard A. Malta and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Mr. Malta's first published novel, Evangelist Caper, Nassau County Detective Michael Ryan never dreamed that a charitable function would provide such profound changes to his life. Along with his partner Peggy Younger, he has become embroiled in the brutal murder of the wealthy and beautiful Evangelist, Tamara Steele. The case leads the two detectives down a path of intrigue where deception and corruption become the order of the day. The Tamara Steele murder forces Mike into corridors he can not otherwise avoid: the unsolved killing of his wife Katie, the care of his disabled son, Jamie and his relationship to Peggy, who is a born-again Christian. Who killed the charismatic Tamara? What was the motive for this brutal murder? Could it be greed, jealousy? Or was it the working of a deranged killer seeking revenge? Richard A. Malta lives with his lovely wife Alice in Freeport. NY. He received a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English. For the last six years Richard and Alice have attended The Charismatic Episcopal Church in Malverne, New York, where they have been taught the love and healing power of a heavenly Father. Ever since he accepted Jesus as Lord in 1976, he has attempted to promote the courage and strength of humankind spawned by God's love and His grace. Through writing, Richard portrays people struggling through life ignorant of the Father's perfect plan for them. Finally, by surrendering to Him life becomes a tremendous banquet.

Book excerpt: In a world where fairytales keep coming to life, there’s a bureau dedicated to helping the victims caught up in the Grimm Effect. But sometimes even those investigators fall prey to a happily ever after… The big, bad wolf is about to go down. Through sheer determination—and a whole lot of stubbornness—I, Blanche Hood, managed to evade the Red-Cap curse. Unlike my mom, I didn’t fall for the huntsman or get eaten by the wolf, but I did gain a purpose. I became an agent for the Fairytale Bureau. My job? Countering the ugly side of the Grimm Effect. My latest case involves a string of murders by a wolf, but I keep getting distracted by my neighbor. I will resist his growly voice. I will not notice the way his muscles bulge. I don’t have time for romance because I need to focus on my job, especially since the perpetrator is taunting me. The killer is asking for a showdown, and he’s going to get it. He won’t be able to resist when I don my red hood to act as bait. Things don’t quite go as planned. Turns out the wolf was under my nose this entire time. By the time I discover the truth, it’s too late. Too late to lament the fact I was played. Too late to regret what could have been, and when I foolishly walk into a trap, it will take a miracle to save me. But everyone knows the Brothers Grimm stories don’t always have happily-ever-afters. If only love truly could break the curse.
