Book Synopsis Responsible Management and Sustainable Consumption by : Piotr Wachowiak
Download or read book Responsible Management and Sustainable Consumption written by Piotr Wachowiak and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-09 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the number of publications on corporate social responsibility has skyrocketed since the last economic crisis that began in 2008, challenges still remain in the modern economy that make socially responsible business a leading topic both in the field of science and business practice. The concept of corporate social responsibility covers not only practices implemented by enterprises but also attitudes represented by consumers and other market entities. Though much has been written about corporate social responsibility and the potential benefits it offers businesses, there remains a misunderstanding of corporate social responsibility (CSR), responsible management (RM) and responsible consumption (RC). Examining the level of responsible management practices implemented by Polish enterprises and assessing consumer attitudes in the field of corporate social responsibility will serve to identify best business practices and enhance management theory. Because this research examines both sides of the market, companies and consumers, it offers a more holistic view on social responsibility, responsible management and responsible consumer behaviour. The contribution of this book is the development of the assessment tool for measuring social responsibility of every enterprise – Enterprise Social Responsibility Index (EnSRI) and Consumer Social Responsibility Index (CnSRI). This book is written to meet the needs of academics, students, company owners and managers. It also provides an integrated view of responsibility from the point of view of both enterprises and consumers.

Book Synopsis Physics and Chemistry of Comets by : Walter F. Huebner
Download or read book Physics and Chemistry of Comets written by Walter F. Huebner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As this excellent book demonstrates, the study of comets has now reached the fas cinating stage where we understand comets in general simple tenns while, at the same time, we are uncertain about practically all the details of cometary nature, structure, processes, and origin. In every aspect, even including dynamics, a choice among several or many competing theories is made impossible simply by the lack of detailed knowledge. The space missions, snapshot studies of two comets, partic ularly the one that immortalizes the name of Sir Edmund Halley, have produced a huge mass of valuable new infonnation and a number of surprises. Nonetheless, we face the tantalizing realization that we have obtained only a fleeting glance at two of perhaps a hundred billion (lOll) or more comets with possibly differing natures, origins, and physical histories. To my personal satisfaction, comets seem to have discrete nuclei made up of dirty snowballs, as I concluded four decades ago, but perhaps they are more like frozen rubbish piles.
Book Synopsis Smart Electromechanical Systems by : Andrey E. Gorodetskiy
Download or read book Smart Electromechanical Systems written by Andrey E. Gorodetskiy and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-02 with total page 239 pages. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest achievements of Russian scientists in the field of theory and practice of decision-making in SEMS, taking into account the information received from the sensors of its central nervous system (CNS). Recently, in the field of theory and practice of intelligent robotics systems management, the solution to the problem of SEMS type urgent task of making decisions about their expedient behavior is based on the integration of the processes of obtaining, processing and storing information, computing, control and monitoring. This enables the efficiency, reliability and safety of operation of SEMS in real time. Decision-making methods are described, both in the autonomous behavior of SEMS and in their group interaction, based on the principles of bionics, adaptability, intelligence and parallelism in information processing and computation. This book is intended for students, scientists and engineers specializing in the field of smart electromechanical systems and robotics.
