Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Murphys Don’t Quit is a story of hope and resilience as one family rallies together during a tragedy. This story is a raw, honest account of the pitfalls and challenges a family faces while navigating life through brain injury. Murphys Don’t Quit shows how one family combined a never-give-up attitude with faith, hope, and love. Throughout the chapters, readers see not just the highs, but the heartbreaking lows. Due to the family’s Irish wit, humor often diffuses the devastating subject matter. Through the many grueling hours of therapy and by visiting specialists all over the country, Lauren was able to find her way back to a life filled with purpose and is now a highly sought after inspirational public speaker.

Book Synopsis Global Perspectives on Youth Language Practices by : Cynthia Groff
Download or read book Global Perspectives on Youth Language Practices written by Cynthia Groff and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-02-07 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most journal articles, edited volumes and monographs on youth language practices deal with one specific variety, one geographical setting, or with one specific continent. This volume bridges these different studies, and it approaches youth language from a much broader angle. A global framework and a diversity of methodologies enable a wider perspective that gives room to comparisons of youth’s manipulations and linguistic agency, transnational communicative practices and language contact scenarios. The research presented addresses structural features of everyday talk and text, youth identity issues related to specific purposes and contexts, and sociocultural emphases on ideologies and belonging. Combining insights into sociolinguistic and structural features of youth language, the volume includes case studies from Asia (Indonesia), Australia and Oceania (Arnhem Land, New Ireland), South America (the Amazon, Chile, Argentina), Europe (Germany, Spain) and Africa (Uganda, Nigeria, DR Congo, Central African Republic, South Africa). It expands on existing publications and offers a more comparative and "global" approach, without a division of youth’s strategies in terms of geographical space or language family. This collection, including a conceptual introduction, is of interest to scholars from several linguistic subfields working in different regional contexts as well as sociologists and anthropologists working in the field of adolescence and youth studies.

Book Synopsis The Tweets of President Donald J. Trump by : Forefront Books
Download or read book The Tweets of President Donald J. Trump written by Forefront Books and published by Forefront Books. This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love them or hate them, the tweets of President Donald J. Trump rule the Twitterverse. Until our last presidential campaign, television, particularly campaign ads, dominated the political landscape. But with the rise of Donald J. Trump came a new political tool: the internet. Trump used this to communicate instantly and very effectively with the American people. And it worked. Establishing his political positions by tweeting numerous times a day, Trump pulled a major upset by defeating Hillary Rodham Clinton to become the 45th president of the United States. Once in office, Trump did not abandon his penchant for using Twitter as his populist platform. Instead, he doubled down on it, making it his primary means of communicating with the American people. Knowing how effective a tweet can be, Trump once wrote, “Boom. I press it and within two seconds we have breaking news.” With a massive Twitter following of 78 million by the spring of 2020, Trump’s direct impact upon Americans cannot be dismissed, nor can the value of his tweets as an essential part of the historical record be denied. To put the enormous impact of his tweets into perspective, Trump won the White House with 63 million votes—a number significantly lower than his massive Twitter following. Now you can read the collected tweets from President Donald J. Trump, from his inauguaration through February 2020 in this historically significant collection.
Download or read book Poison Ivy written by Evan Mandery and published by The New Press. This book was released on 2022-10-25 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The front-page news and the trials that followed Operation Varsity Blues were just the tip of the iceberg. Poison Ivy tells the bigger, seedier story of how elite colleges create paths to admission available only to the wealthy, despite rhetoric to the contrary. Evan Mandery reveals how tacit agreements between exclusive “Ivy-plus” schools and white affluent suburbs create widespread de facto segregation. And as a college degree continues to be the surest route to upward mobility, the inequality bred in our broken higher education system is now a principal driver of skyrocketing income inequality everywhere. Mandery—a professor at a public college that serves low- and middle-income students—contrasts the lip service paid to “opportunity” by so many elite colleges and universities with schools that actually walk the walk. Weaving in shocking data and captivating interviews with students and administrators alike, Poison Ivy also synthesizes fascinating insider information on everything from how students are evaluated, unfair tax breaks, and questionable fundraising practices to suburban rituals, testing, tutoring, tuition schemes, and more. This bold, provocative indictment of America’s elite colleges shows us what’s at stake in a faulty system—and what will be possible if we muster the collective will to transform it.

Book Synopsis Touching Stories of My Life in Journey to Christian Holiness and Hands- on Patient Care in a Weeping Healthcare by : Ramsis Ghaly MD FACS
Download or read book Touching Stories of My Life in Journey to Christian Holiness and Hands- on Patient Care in a Weeping Healthcare written by Ramsis Ghaly MD FACS and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-08-31 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the twelfth book in the series Christianity and the Human Brain. It integrates neuroscience and the Bible, the holy book of Jesus. My love for Jesus Christ abides with my lifetime passion for neurosurgery and medicine. I have a continual obsession for spiritual connectivity between the Holy Spirit and the human brain, which indeed separates mankind from all other living creation. It has been my belief that the human brain does not limit itself to the physical skull. Rather, it extends in a nonphysical form to the outside spiritual world, even while living on earth. In other words, a big part of the human brain is actually outside the skull and the body. After performing brain surgeries for three decades, I have realized that my theory is so true. The majestic human brain can’t be just the 1,500 grams of jelled matter inside the skull. The human journey, therefore, is transforming the human brain into the brain of a man of God and transforming the hand of man into the hand of the man of God. The spiritual human brain never dies. Only the flesh does. This is the center of my calling and my unrelenting meditations while roaming in the heartfelt spirit, lacking the physical proof that science demands from me. My life is dedicated to Jesus, to my patients, and to my residents. As a physician, I have reached the top within America both as a professor of neurological surgery and anesthesiology and as a well-published author of several famous medical journals. As an academic teacher, I trained for more than thirty-four years and have watched thousands of trainees graduate. But all this is nothing as I strive to achieve Christian holiness and fullness. In a weeping healthcare with many patients’ falling victims, I included actual miracles, testimonials, and sincere quotes from patients as a testament to the Almighty and the dire need for faith and good-hearted medicine. This book is full of many vibrant stories that I love to share, which is timely since I am guessing that my generation will soon be viewed obsolete by future generations. What will remain are the books I authored. This book is a text of wealth, covering broad and diverse topics in my life journey within 134 chapters and organized over fourteen sections. So many chapters are written about my special love for Jesus Christ and his children. In poems, deep reflections, and spiritual release of mind, I wrote extensively. In fact, I shut my senses and impersonated the human brains of the men of God and the children of the Most High in their prominent biblical stories. A special section is dedicated to mothers, newborns, and little children. While my soul is grieving, a section is centered on the ongoing Christian persecution, especially the genocide of Christians in my country, Egypt, which is also the ancient region of the Middle East and the oldest historic continent of Africa. Furthermore, I wrote some of my dreams and thoughts that I couldn’t otherwise convey for one reason or another, such as neuroscience in aerospace and some of the timely and touching subjects such as drug overdose, human trafficking, and health-care crises. Few chapters are included about my personal views about introducing spirituality into the recent turmoil in politics. Friends, human life starts with love and ends with eternal love for our savior. It is never enough to share our love and write about love and talk about actual love stories of heavenly roses, joy, Christmas, healing touch, miracles, and our calling for his purpose. This is what my twelfth book is all about.
