Should two or more men have obtained the same number of points (not less than seven) in the first class, and be otherwise eligible for the reward, reference is to be made to their respective performances in the first and second periods of individual shooting, and those selected who have obtained the greatest number of points therein. Should there still be a tie, reference is then to be made to their performances in the judging distance practice, and the preference given to those who are the best judges of distances. All men who may undergo a course of instruction at the School of Musketry, Hythe, are, if qualified, eligible for the rewards for good shooting in their respective battalions, provided they have not been exercised in the yearly course of practice before joining the said establishment, which is to be duly notified.
