Book excerpt: If you were "arrested" for being a Christian - would there be enough "evidence" to "convict" you? The reference here is to a TRUE Christian and not one in name only or according to the accepted meaning of the term by ANY religion, religious tradition or church. The word Christian simply means little Christ, Christ like, or a follower, disciple or imitator of Christ. Since Jesus Christ Himself (not any church, religion or religious organization) is the author AND finisher of the Christian FAITH - is there enough evidence in your LIFE as a professing Christian - according to HIS requirements for discipleship in the gospels - to PROVE that you TRULY are HIS follower or imitator? Or would you be "guilty" of being "churchy" or "religious"? The Bible clearly reveals that Jesus calls ALL of HIS followers to a lifestyle that includes a FULL-TIME commitment to establish, expand and maintain the Kingdom of God on earth. THAT is the gospel of the Kingdom of God that JESUS AND His disciples preached AND practiced. However, because of the "traditions of men" that have been handed down to us for generations - Christians have not been taught this for the most part. Therefore, as a substitute for that they have inadvertently created something called "Churchanity." It has been said that if you do not understand the purpose of something (or someone such as Christ) you will inevitably misuse or misapply it (or Him). Ironically, Christians have done this exact thing with the very Christ of their faith. This book exposes "Churchanity" for the TOTAL and COMPLETE fraud that it is. "Churchanity" is a FALSE, religious system WITHIN Christianity. Yet "Churchanity" actually compromises MOST of what we know AS "Christianity" today. "Churchanity" PRIMARILY focuses on an EVENT called a "church service." This is the CENTER of THIS "religious system." It generally involves having a "building" in which to have the "service" and a "professional minister" to CONDUCT the "service." Most of the "activity" of the local "church" centers around this "event" or at least it is for the purpose of supporting this "form" of "church structure" or "function." The author agrees that the Bible tells believers to meet together regularly for their Christian growth. Furthermore, he recognizes that there is certainly NOTHING wrong with having a place to do so (even one that they rent or own). He also acknowledges that God DIFINITELY desires Christians to give to the "needy among them" (which could also include their leaders). But he affirms that NONE of THOSE things should be the FOCUS of their spiritual life OR their PRIMARY FORM of spiritual service to the Lord. Yet THAT is what Christians have made it. THAT is NOT Christianity. It is "Churchanity." Therefore, this book is written in the format of a "court trial." The author is playing the part of the prosecuting attorney, God of course is the Judge and professing Christians are "on trial" for the sin of "hypocrisy" and for "crimes" against the Kingdom of God. These "crimes" are - being AWOL from "active duty," being a "deserter" in a "time of war" and the ultimate "crime" of "HIGH TREASON" for being a "traitor" to the Kingdom of God! In this book Christians will be challenged to reexamine EVERYTHING they ever thought they believed about God, Jesus, Christianity and the Church. The Bible plainly teaches that God wants believers to be wholeheartedly committed to HIM according to HIS discipleship requirements - rather than have a half-hearted, surface commitment that majors on church attendance. The author spent many years fasting, praying, studying and researching to come to these conclusions. Therefore, Christians should take advantage of his unique insight into this matter to determine IF there actually IS enough evidence to convict them of being a REAL disciple of Jesus or not. THIS is NOT something that they should leave to chance or just hope for the best. Spending an ETERNITY IN HELL is no laughing matter!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not a novel. It is in fact the data which has been transcribed from a trial in the spirit realm; a trial which just happens to be your own. It is a trial in which I play the role of prosecutor with God's word in hand and you are left to defend your faith as a Christian. My position is that, after decades of living as a Catholic Christian man, most of the so called Christians that I meet are nothing of the sort. And that would include you. And as is the case with any trial, evidence will be brought forth and a verdict will be reached either for or against you. At the trial's end the jury will be charged with reaching a verdict of eternal life with Christ or damnation in hell. The brunt of the evidence that will be used against you will be taken from the word of God. I as the prosecutor will endeavor to embellish certain aspects of God's word to prove my case against you. You see, I believe, that you are not who you say you are and I intend to prove this to the jury. With all the bickering and in-fighting within the faith I believe that the time has come to draw a line in the sand. Those who are for or against Christ must choose on which side of that line they will stand. And so as we enter the court room to begin... I hope that you are as prepared as I am, because I will relentlessly pursue a guilty verdict. My opinion of you and your Christian faith is that you are a fraud and a fake; and that your religion is in vain. My intent is to prove that to the jury based solely on God's word which is the Holy Bible. So take the witness seat, swear the oath and let the trial of your faith begin. Or are you afraid to do so?

Book excerpt: In The Trial of Stephen Alan Watson studies the first Christian martyr, who was stoned to death by a mob outside of Jerusalem around A.D. 36 during his trial by the supreme rabbinic court for blasphemy against the Jewish faith. Watson focuses on Stephen's enthralling defense speech, as found solely in the Acts of Apostles, which is both the pivotal and, until now, least understood part of the fatal proceedings. Watson locates the speech in the well-known genre of criminal trial defenses, which shows that the conduct of the accused was either justified or needs no justification and that the prosecutors themselves are the real wrongdoers. Noting Stephen's departure from mainstream early Christian thought and the enmity he brought down upon all Christians, Watson suggests that Stephen was perhaps not only Christianity's first martyr, but also its first heretic.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Trials of the Church: Or, the Persecutors of Religion It is a considerable time since the thought of writing this work occurred to my mind. I do not know how the idea originated. It was not that I had acquired an extensive knowledge of the subject, and wished to communicate it to others. In fact I knew little or nothing about it at that date. I had not till then read anything on the sufferings of the martyrs. In a vague, general way, I was aware that they had suffered much, that they had been highly honored by religion, and had borne the most brilliant and convincing testimony to the divinity of the Christian religion. But beyond that, I had no definite ideas regarding their numbers, their endurance, their virtues. It was only when I began to examine the matter attentively that its importance and excellence became known to me. I then, for the first time, learned to appreciate the services rendered to religion by these admirable champions of truth. I saw and acknowledged the nobility and grandeur of their character. I saw that in order to be true children of God, modelled after the character of the Redeemer, the spirit, the heroism and self-sacrifice of the martyrs must adorn and ennoble our entire being. It sets forth the most common legal claims asserted against religious organizations, and the defenses churches have successfully raised. ... We describe real-life legal claims against churches and analyze the outcomes, pro or con. We focus on the claims most frequently asserted against churches. Some of the trends defy conventional wisdom. For example, there are few suits for clergy malpractice, but many successful suits for slippery sidewalks. Book excerpt: The great fact and the Eternal Fact in the life of Jesus was his death because of our sins upon the Cross. This was the fact which St. Paul declared he preached to the Corinthians "first of all"; not that they were the first to hear it; not that it merely came first in the enumeration of the great truths of the Gospel; but that it was first in importance the Eternal Fact of Redemption. The steps therefore by which Jesus was brought to the Cross are of great interest to Christian lawyers.
