Book Synopsis Attribute Grammars, Applications and Systems by : Henk Alblas
Download or read book Attribute Grammars, Applications and Systems written by Henk Alblas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1991-10-23 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attribute grammars have shown themselves to be a useful formalism for specifying the syntax and the static semantics of programming languages. They are also useful for implementing syntax-directed editors, compilers, translator writing systems and compiler generators, and any application that has a strong syntactic base. However, no textbooks are available that cover the entire field. To redress this imbalance, anInternational Summer School on Attribute Grammars, Applications and Systems was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia in June 1991. The course aimed at teaching the state of the art in attribute grammars, and their relation to other language specification methods. This volume presents the proceedings of the school. The papers are well suited for self-study, and a selection of them can be used for introductory courses in attribute grammars.

Book Synopsis Attribute Grammars by : Pierre Deransart
Download or read book Attribute Grammars written by Pierre Deransart and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1988-08-10 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats the problem of formulating models in mathematical programming, and thereafter solving the resulting model. Particular emphasis is placed on the interaction between the two. The topic is viewed from different angles, namely linear programming (Walter Murray), integer programming (Ellis Johnson), network flows (John Mulvey), and stochastic programming (Roger J-B Wets). The book will be very useful for any mathematics programmer or operations researcher who works in the field of real-world modelling. The book is an important part of any university course in modelling, particularly in operations research, economics and business. The book also contains an article on the origins of mathematical programming (Alexander Rinnooy Kan). This is important reading for anyone interested in the history of the field.

Download or read book Attribute Grammars and their Applications written by Pierre Deransart and published by Springer. This book was released on 1990-09-07 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attribute grammars were introduced over twenty years ago, but they are still not as widely used as could have been hoped initially. This is particularly so in industry, despite their qualities as a specification tool. The aim of this International Workshop on Attribute Grammars and their Applications (WAGA), the first to be entirely devoted to this topic, was to show that they are still the subject of active research and now lead to important, useful and practical applications in various areas. The workshop covered all aspects of attribute grammars, with an emphasis on practical results. This volume includes the text of the three invited talks and 21 submitted papers presented at the workshop. This selection provides a wide view of the diverse research being done in the area. Topics include: - Fundamentals: efficient exhaustive and incremental at- tribute evaluation methods, parallel evaluation, space optimization, relationships with functional, logic and object-oriented programming, and systems. - Applications: compiler construction, natural language processing, and interactive program manipulation.
Book Synopsis AML by : Cornell University. Dept. of Computer Science
Download or read book AML written by Cornell University. Dept. of Computer Science and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attribute grammars are a valuable tool for constructing compilers and building user interfaces. This paper reports on a system we are developing, called AML (for Attribution in ML), which is an attribute grammar toolkit for building such applications as language-based programming environments using SML. This system builds on the proven technology of efficient attribute evaluation, while using a higher-level foundation for the implementation of interactive systems. It supports a general and uniform platform for building applications that can manipulate attributed terms and allow access to attribute values. We describe the design of the AML system, its current implementation status, and our plans for the future.

Book Synopsis Can We Transform Logic Programs into Attribute Grammars? by : Tomas Isakowitz
Download or read book Can We Transform Logic Programs into Attribute Grammars? written by Tomas Isakowitz and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper we study the relationship between Attribute Grammars and Logic Programs, concentrating on transforming logic programs into attribute grammars. Thishas potential applications in compilation techniques for logic programs. It does notseem possible to transform arbitrary Logic Programs into Attribute Grammars, basicallybecause the same logic variables can sometimes be used as input and sometimes asoutput. We introduce the notion of an Abstract Attribute Grammar, which is similar tothat of an Attribute Grammar with the exception that attributes are not classified intoinherited and synthesized, and that the semantic equations are replaced by restrictionsets. These sets represent a restriction on the values of attribute occurrences namely, all elements within each set have to be equal. We give an effective translation schemawhich produces an equivalent Abstract Attribute Grammar for a given Logic Program. We provide a formal proof of this equivalence. We then proceed to classify a classof Abstract Attribute Grammars that can be transformed into Attribute Grammars, and show how to achieve this transformation. By composing both transformations onecan transform certain logic programs into attribute grammars. Complete proofs ar5egiven.

Book excerpt: ETAPS’99 is the second instance of the EuropeanJoint Conferences on T- ory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998 by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprises ?ve conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), four satellite workshops (CMCS, AS, WAGA, CoFI), seven invited lectures, two invited tutorials, and six contributed tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis and improvement. The languages, methodologies and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Di?erent blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.
