Book excerpt: The Electronic Warfare Integrated Reprogramming Database (EWIRDB) is the primary Department of Defense (DoD) approved source of electronic warfare (EW) data. Its utilization in the areas of battle planning and EW research enables our military forces to effectively exploit the electromagnetic spectrum and shape the outcome of battle. The EWIRDB, however, lacks a viable conceptual data model. EWIRDB data are represented in disjoint parametric tree models that are implementation-oriented; to the extent that the tree structures are used as conceptual modeling tools, their hierarchical form is too restrictive to adequately describe EW data semantics. Moreover, these structures address only technical parametric data. Associated administrative, reference, and comment data are excluded. In practice, the EWIRDB is described in terms of the coded and record-based format of its output media, not its conceptual model. The primary goal of this thesis is the development of a semantically-improved conceptual design of EWIRDB data based on the object-oriented data model (OODM). The secondary goal of the thesis is the specification of a logical design, based on the new conceptual design, to provide the structure for a subsequent implementation of EWIRDB data on the Multimodel and Multilingual Database System (MDBS) in the Laboratory for Database Systems Research at the Naval Postgraduate School. The results of the work contained herein are: (1) an object-oriented conceptual design of EWIRDB data that supports the semantics of both the file format and tree structures, and (2) the specification of an object-oriented logical design for an M2 DBS implementation of sample EWIRDB data

The simulation is used to determine the optimum distributed C2W/EA configuration of assets including placement of sensors and system selection (jammer or receiver or both) for important mission scenarios leading to a better understanding of the minimum requirements for suppression of enemy air defense operations. ARES is a pulse level simulation that models the complex interaction of multiple radar systems being acted upon by multiple AEA aircraft, considering target aircraft radar cross section (RCS) and altitude, terrain masking effects, both standoff jamming and self protection jamming effects, and network connection effect. Its features include an object%-oriented scenario workbook allowing the users to build a battlefield scenario and a search procedure based on a genetic algorithm (GA) for optimizing configurations of what the core and peripheral components of the AEA architecture should be. ARES is available in two forms: Graphical User Interface (GUI) and parallel. ARES' GUI runs on a personal computer (PC) and its primary application is for setting up scenarios and post processing. The two prototype models were designed as aids for performing policy and other analysis of key issues. The models can be used to help look for gaps and redundancies in current and proposed capabilities, help justify resource allocations, and seek desired mixes and employment strategies of IEW/TA assets and their communications network architectures to support operations. In 2019, WHO published estimates of new cases of chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and trichomoniasis. Recent changes in the epidemiology of STIs and progress in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of STIs and HIV have necessitated changes in approaches to STI prevention and management. To address these STIs, the most widely used approach in clinical settings is the syndromic management of STIs. In most resource-limited settings, the syndromic management flow charts are still the standard of care where laboratory diagnosis is not available or is hard to access. The objectives of these guidelines are to provide updated, evidence-informed clinical and practical recommendations on the case management of people with symptoms of STIs; and to support countries in updating their national guidelines for the case management of people with symptoms of STIs. These guidelines include the management of symptomatic infections related to urethral discharge syndrome, including persistent urethral discharge syndrome; vaginal discharge syndrome, including persistent vaginal discharge; anorectal infection; genital ulcer disease syndrome; and lower abdominal pain syndrome. These guidelines are intended for programme managers for STI prevention and control at the national level and the health-care providers at the frontline – primary, secondary and tertiary health care.
