His contemporaries are familiar historical figures: Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus, Herod the Great, Pontius Pilate. It was an era of oppression, when every man, woman, and child answered to the brutal rule of Rome. In this world, Jesus lived, and in this volatile political and historical context, Jesus died—and changed the world forever. Adapted from Bill O'Reilly's bestselling historical thriller Killing Jesus, and richly illustrated, The Last Days of Jesus is a riveting, fact-based account of the life and times of Jesus.

This book was released on 2000 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The prophet Brigham Young taught the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in a basic, practical way that gave inspiration and hope to the Saints struggling to build a home in the wilderness. Though more than a century has now passed, his words are still fresh and appropriate for us today as we continue the work of building the kingdom of God. President Young declared that as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we possess the “doctrine of life and salvation for all the honest-in-heart” (DBY, 7). He promised that those who receive the gospel in their hearts will have awakened “within them a desire to know and understand the things of God more than they ever did before in their lives” and will begin to “inquire, read and search and when they go to their Father in the name of Jesus he will not leave them without a witness” (DBY, 450). This book reflects the desire of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to deepen the doctrinal understanding of Church members and to awaken within them a greater desire to know the things of God. It will inspire and motivate individuals, priesthood quorums, and Relief Society classes to inquire, read, search, and then go to their Father in Heaven for a witness of the truth of these teachings. Each chapter contains two sections—“Teachings of Brigham Young” and “Suggestions for Study.” The first section consists of extracts from Brigham Young’s sermons to the early Saints. Each statement has been referenced, and the original spelling and punctuation have been preserved; however, the sources cited will not be readily available to most members. These original sources are not necessary to have in order to effectively study or teach from this book. Members need not purchase additional references and commentaries to study or teach these chapters. The text provided in this book, accompanied by the scriptures, is sufficient for instruction. Members should prayerfully read and study President Young’s teachings in order to gain new insights into gospel principles and discover how those principles apply to their everyday lives. By faithfully and prayerfully studying these selections, Latter-day Saints will have a greater understanding of gospel principles and will more fully appreciate the profound and inspired teachings of this great prophet. The second section of each chapter offers a series of questions that will encourage thoughtful contemplation, personal application, and discussion of President Young’s teachings. Members should refer to and carefully reread his words on the principle being discussed. Deep and prayerful study of these teachings will inspire members to greater personal commitment and will help them resolve to follow the teachings of the Savior, Jesus Christ. If individuals and families prayerfully follow the principles in this book, they will be blessed and inspired to greater dedication and spirituality, as were the early Saints who heard these words directly from the lips of the “Lion of the Lord” (HC, 7:434)—the prophet, seer, and revelator, President Brigham Young.

In A.D. 100, John is restored to the body of his youth and sent on a mission with a warning: to never reveal his true identity. He winds up on a small Greek isle where he faces an attempted assassination, a run-in with the Roman authorities, and develops a relationship with the daughter of the village leader. Fast-forward to modern day Seattle, where John leads a foundation dedicated to bringing clean water to third world nations. A new television series brings attention to ancient legends about the true fate of John the apostle and threatens to reveal the truth of his identity. John struggles to keep his secret as he grows close to Nicole, a young woman he recruits to lead his organization. For two thousand years, John has wandered the earth while hiding his true identity. But now, both friends and foes are on the verge of discovering who he truly is—an event that will trigger the end times. Can John divert those who would discover his secret, or will curious friends and suspicious enemies spark the apocalypse? The Last Apostle is the first in the series of novels on the life of John over the last two millennia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul’s life, letters, and theology are unified by the theme of the overlapping of two ages—this age and the age to come. With the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the age to come (i e , kingdom of God) broke into this present age but didn’t end it. Where other important doctrines such as justification by faith, reconciliation, and the cross of Christ were key players in Paul’s theology, Marvin Pate compellingly demonstrates that the overarching theme driving the Pauline corpus was indeed Paul’s inaugurated eschatology. In fact, Paul’s apocalyptic framework was only one of a number of other rival eschatologically focused religious perspectives of the day, such as the Imperial Cult, Hellenistic/syncretistic religion, and the merkabah Judaizers. Paul’s vigorous debates with the churches he served centered on the exclusivity of the gospel of Christ that he preached: the nonnegotiable apocalypse of Jesus the Messiah. Apostle of the Last Days will be welcomed in the classroom as a one-volume treatment of Paul’s life and letters as well as his theology.

Book excerpt: Our Lord Jesus Christ said to His disciples: The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few: Pray ye, therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest. (Matthew 9: 37, 38) Best selling Mystery/Thriller novelist Jeff Pate crosses over to the Christian Fiction genre with Calling of the Twelve, the first installment of an exciting and revealing new series concerning the Great Harvest: The Last-Day Apostles. Pastor Roger Ingram has all the Lord's blessings--at least he believes he does. On his way to visit relatives on Thanksgiving Day 1985, Roger's life changes forever. Dead at the hospital after a car accident, Roger's spirit journeys beyond the worldly realm where he experiences fascinating revelations. His journey ends at the Throne of God where he comes before the Lord Himself. Confident and bold of his salvation, Roger quickly experiences the terrifying wrath, and also the incredible mercy and grace of God. He learns that he has been chosen to embark on the most important mission mankind has ever witnessed: to prepare the world for the Great Harvest and Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sent back to earth to wait for the mission to begin, Roger's ministry takes a 180-degree turn, igniting a fire for the truth of the Gospel. Forewarned of future persecution as a result, Roger and his wife Carolyn are commanded by an angel of the Lord to flee their Virginia home to Pilot Mountain, North Carolina where they continue preaching the Truth. Move forward to April 2003: eighteen years after his incredible near-death experience, and just three days after the unexpected death of his wife, Roger is visited by an angel named Boethos. Called Bo,the angel was sent to help the pastor gather the remaining eleven last-day apostles. After being given the new name of Stephen, the spirit-filled pastor and spry angel set out on their mission. Donning the full armor of God, the missionaries begin in New York and travel across the country facing insurmountable forces of Satan--in both spirit and flesh--that will stop at nothing to destroy God's plan. But Stephen and his growing band of apostles remain steadfast in their mission, despite incredible dangers--only to be delivered from the depths of destruction. Calling of the Twelve marks the fictional beginning of the end of this age, and the dawning of incredible events to come when the world will witness the omnipotent authority of God. Much like the twelve original disciples, the last-day apostles begin as a band of lost sheep from every conceivable walk of life and generation, but under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, they become the most powerful messengers of God the world has ever seen.

These ministry gifts did not pass away with the last of Jesus' disciples. Christ gave them to the Church for all time, and they are still "alive and well" today. But what are apostles and prophets? Why is there so much controversy, error, and abuse in the Church concerning these ministry callings? In Apostles and Prophets — Their Roles in the Past, Present, and Last-Days Church, Rick Renner defines these ministry offices biblically and historically, tracing their roles from the Early Church all the way to the present. Filled with vivid illustrations that recount Church history as you have perhaps never seen it, this book answers such questions as: What signs accompany true apostles and prophets? What defines false apostles and prophets? Why does Scripture refer to the Church as a vineyard, a body, and a temple? Why you have a priestly ministry to fulfill How apostles and prophets equip you for priestly ministry What is God's real intention for a last-days Church? Are you weary from being tossed around by mind-bending doctrines that leave you weak and disappointed? Would you like to participate in fulfilling God's masterful plan for the age? This book will fortify you with revelation you can build on! It will equip you to better understand and cooperate with the ministry of the apostle and prophet in this critical hour of the last-days Church.

Book excerpt: The Book of Martyrs by John Foxe written in the 16th century has long been the go-to source for studying the lives and martyrdom of the apostles. Whilst other scholars have written individual treatments on the more prominent apostles such as Peter, Paul, John, and James, there is little published information on the other apostles. In The Fate of the Apostles, Sean McDowell offers a comprehensive, reasoned, historical analysis of the fate of the twelve disciples of Jesus along with the apostles Paul, and James. McDowell assesses the evidence for each apostle’s martyrdom as well as determining its significance to the reliability of their testimony. The question of the fate of the apostles also gets to the heart of the reliability of the kerygma: did the apostles really believe Jesus appeared to them after his death, or did they fabricate the entire story? How reliable are the resurrection accounts? The willingness of the apostles to die for their faith is a popular argument in resurrection studies and McDowell offers insightful scholarly analysis of this argument to break new ground within the spheres of New Testament studies, Church History, and apologetics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the man and his followers arrived in the city, the air was palpable with intrigue and danger along with a sense of expectation as to what would unfold in the coming days. Thus begins the story of 60 Days That Shook the World: The Last Days of Jesus Christ, by Roy G. Pittman. In the historical and chronological study of Jesus' last week on Earth until the gift of Holy Spirit was given on Pentecost, many traditional beliefs are challenged and questioned. Did Jesus make one triumphal entry into Jerusalem or two? Did Peter deny Jesus three times as traditionally believed or six? Did Judas 'hang' himself the day Jesus was crucified or was he still with the other Apostles after Jesus was resurrected? How many times was Jesus actually buried? All of those questions and many more are studied with answers from the Word of God provided to return serious students of the Bible back to the truth and accuracy of the Word. The author has utilized the research and expertise of many Biblical scholars in his search for the truth; a search he hopes others are willing to seriously undertake. If you are desiring to be challenged and motivated to study the Word of God with a more critical and interpretive understanding, then 60 Days That Shook the World is a must read.
