Book Synopsis Experimental and Theoretical Study of Cavity Acoustics by : R. E. Dix
Download or read book Experimental and Theoretical Study of Cavity Acoustics written by R. E. Dix and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 1986 and 1990, a large database was compiled at AEDC from the results of a series of wind tunnel experiments investigating the aerodynamics of flow over open cavities. The database, known as the Weapons Internal Carriage and Separation (WICS) database, covered four experiments that were completed in the AEDC wind tunnels. The initial database documentation focused on the test and data, but included very little analysis of the results. The purpose of the present work is to report analysis of the cavity acoustics and trajectory data. In addition, an updated engineering mathematical model for cavity aeroacoustics is presented.

Book Synopsis Stability and Transition in Shear Flows by : Peter J. Schmid
Download or read book Stability and Transition in Shear Flows written by Peter J. Schmid and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detailed look at some of the more modern issues of hydrodynamic stability, including transient growth, eigenvalue spectra, secondary instability. It presents analytical results and numerical simulations, linear and selected nonlinear stability methods. By including classical results as well as recent developments in the field of hydrodynamic stability and transition, the book can be used as a textbook for an introductory, graduate-level course in stability theory or for a special-topics fluids course. It is equally of value as a reference for researchers in the field of hydrodynamic stability theory or with an interest in recent developments in fluid dynamics. Stability theory has seen a rapid development over the past decade, this book includes such new developments as direct numerical simulations of transition to turbulence and linear analysis based on the initial-value problem.

Book Synopsis A High-order Compact Finite-difference Scheme for Large-eddy Simulation of Active Flow Control by : Donald Pasquale Rizzetta
Download or read book A High-order Compact Finite-difference Scheme for Large-eddy Simulation of Active Flow Control written by Donald Pasquale Rizzetta and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computational approach for performing large-eddy simulation (LES) of flows with active control is summarized. Simulation of these problems typically characterized by small-scale fluid structures cannot be carried out accurately by methods less sophisticated than LES. The numerical scheme is predicated upon an implicit time-marching algorithm, and utilizes a high order compact finite-difference approximation to represent spatial derivatives. Robustness of the scheme is maintained by employing a low-pass Pade-type non-dispersive spatial filter, which also serves as an implicit sub-grid turbulent model. Geometrically complex applications are accommodated by a high order overset grid technique. Utility of the method is illustrated by steady and pulsed approaches to suppression of acoustic resonance in supersonic cavity flow, leading-edge vortex control of a delta wing, efficiency enhancement of a transitional highly loaded low-pressure turbine blade, and separation control of a wall-mounted hump model. Where available, comparisons are also made with experimental data.
