ON DONNE UNE PREUVE DE CONVERGENCE FONDEE SUR UNE PROPRIETE DE LISSAGE ET UNE PROPRIETE D'APPROXIMATION. DANS CETTE APPROCHE, UN FILTRAGE DE LA CORRECTION EST EFFECTUE SUR LE NIVEAU FIN. DANS UNE SECONDE PARTIE, UNE REVUE DES PRINCIPAUX MODELES DE TURBULENCE EST D'ABORD PROPOSEE. ON PRESENTE ENSUITE UNE METHODE NUMERIQUE QUI COMBINE UNE APPROXIMATION MIXTE ELEMENTS FINIS/VOLUMES FINIS POUR DES MAILLAGES NON STRUCTURES, AVEC UN SCHEMA IMPLICITE LINEARISE POUR L'AVANCEMENT EN TEMPS. L'IMPLICITATION DU TERME SOURCE A FAIT L'OBJET D'UNE ATTENTION PARTICULIERE. LES MODELES DE TURBULENCE UTILISES SONT DES MODELES A DEUX EQUATIONS K- BAS REYNOLDS. Download or read book Numerical Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow written by Suhas Patankar and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on heat and mass transfer, fluid flow, chemical reaction, and other related processes that occur in engineering equipment, the natural environment, and living organisms. Using simple algebra and elementary calculus, the author develops numerical methods for predicting these processes mainly based on physical considerations. Through this approach, readers will develop a deeper understanding of the underlying physical aspects of heat transfer and fluid flow as well as improve their ability to analyze and interpret computed results.

Book excerpt: This volume presents a catalogue of over 2000 doctoral theses by Africans in all fields of mathematics, including applied mathematics, mathematics education and history of mathematics. The introduction contains information about distribution by country, institutions, period, and by gender, about mathematical density, and mobility of mathematicians. Several appendices are included (female doctorate holders, doctorates in mathematics education, doctorates awarded by African universities to non-Africans, doctoral theses by non-Africans about mathematics in Africa, activities of African mathematicians at the service of their communities). Paulus Gerdes compiled the information in his capacity of Chairman of the African Mathematical Union Commission for the History of Mathematics in Africa (AMUCHMA). The book contains a preface by Mohamed Hassan, President of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and Executive Director of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS). (383 pp.)

Book excerpt: Discussing fluid mechanics and heat transfer in rotating-disc systems, this text simplifies and extends existing information to provide a basic understanding of the subject. Physical insight, mathematical models and experimental data are used to explain the flow structure and provide theoretical methods and correlations which will be of use to research workers and designers.
Book Synopsis Computational Methods for Fluid Flow by : Roger Peyret
Download or read book Computational Methods for Fluid Flow written by Roger Peyret and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In developing this book, we decided to emphasize applications and to provide methods for solving problems. As a result, we limited the mathematical devel opments and we tried as far as possible to get insight into the behavior of numerical methods by considering simple mathematical models. The text contains three sections. The first is intended to give the fundamen tals of most types of numerical approaches employed to solve fluid-mechanics problems. The topics of finite differences, finite elements, and spectral meth ods are included, as well as a number of special techniques. The second section is devoted to the solution of incompressible flows by the various numerical approaches. We have included solutions of laminar and turbulent-flow prob lems using finite difference, finite element, and spectral methods. The third section of the book is concerned with compressible flows. We divided this last section into inviscid and viscous flows and attempted to outline the methods for each area and give examples.

Book Synopsis Macroscopic Transport Equations for Rarefied Gas Flows by : Henning Struchtrup
Download or read book Macroscopic Transport Equations for Rarefied Gas Flows written by Henning Struchtrup and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-06-15 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The well known transport laws of Navier-Stokes and Fourier fail for the simulation of processes on lengthscales in the order of the mean free path of a particle that is when the Knudsen number is not small enough. Thus, the proper simulation of flows in rarefied gases requires a more detailed description. This book discusses classical and modern methods to derive macroscopic transport equations for rarefied gases from the Boltzmann equation, for small and moderate Knudsen numbers, i.e. at and above the Navier-Stokes-Fourier level. The main methods discussed are the classical Chapman-Enskog and Grad approaches, as well as the new order of magnitude method, which avoids the short-comings of the classical methods, but retains their benefits. The relations between the various methods are carefully examined, and the resulting equations are compared and tested for a variety of standard problems. The book develops the topic starting from the basic description of an ideal gas, over the derivation of the Boltzmann equation, towards the various methods for deriving macroscopic transport equations, and the test problems which include stability of the equations, shock waves, and Couette flow.

Book Synopsis Rarefied Gas Dynamics by : Carlo Cercignani
Download or read book Rarefied Gas Dynamics written by Carlo Cercignani and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-02-28 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to present the concepts, methods and applications of kinetic theory to rarefied gas dynamics. After introducing the basic tools, problems in plane geometry are treated using approximation techniques (perturbation and numerical methods). These same techniques are later used to deal with two- and three-dimensional problems. The models include not only monatomic but also polyatomic gases, mixtures, chemical reactions. A special chapter is devoted to evaporation and condensation phenomena. Each section is accompanied by problems which are mainly intended to demonstrate the use of the material in the text and to outline additional subjects, results and equations. This will help ensure that the book can be used for a range of graduate courses in aerospace engineering or applied mathematics.

Book Synopsis Molecular Gas Dynamics by : Yoshio Sone
Download or read book Molecular Gas Dynamics written by Yoshio Sone and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-10-16 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained book is an up-to-date description of the basic theory of molecular gas dynamics and its various applications. The book, unique in the literature, presents working knowledge, theory, techniques, and typical phenomena in rarefied gases for theoretical development and application. Basic theory is developed in a systematic way and presented in a form easily applied for practical use. In this work, the ghost effect and non-Navier–Stokes effects are demonstrated for typical examples—Bénard and Taylor–Couette problems—in the context of a new framework. A new type of ghost effect is also discussed.
