Book Synopsis An American Family by : Ralph F. Warner
Download or read book An American Family written by Ralph F. Warner and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An American Family is about the Warner family of Philadelphia's Blockley Township. R. David Warner Sr., the author, is qualified to write this book because he and his father are the twelfth and thirteenth generation of a family which settled on the shores of the Schuylkill River five years before William Penn laid out the city. Before his death in 1992, the author's father wrote a series of letters containing the stories told to him as a child in the early twentieth century. He researched the public records of both the Historical Societies and the Quaker Meetinghouse to build upon the actual accounts of his family members. He spent the last twenty years of his life collecting this historical information. In the mid-nineteenth century, the author's great-grandfather began building on the names and facts about family members. The information he gathered was also used to write this book. Actual letters written from the foxholes of the civil war are typical of the documents used to complete this book. Our past can only be retrieved from what we remember and from the historical records that have been kept. Without memories and without records, we have no personal history!
Book Synopsis Hollywood be Thy Name by : Cass Warner Sperling
Download or read book Hollywood be Thy Name written by Cass Warner Sperling and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The real story of the Warner brothers has all the drama of a big screen production - a rags-to-riches immigrant tale with tension and strife between four brothers, love and marriage, death and divorce, plotting and betrayal. Harry, Sam, Albert, and Jack. Their father Ben insisted that by sticking together they could succeed and prosper. And stick together they did, until they were separated over the years by the death of one brother, and, ultimately, by shocking betrayal. Using family letters, interviews, and personal recollections, Cass Warner Sperling, granddaughter of Harry Warner, and coauthor Cork Millner, along with Jack Warner Jr., have shaped a moving biography of this legendary Hollywood family. Written in a cinematic style and weaving in present-tense voices of still-living family members and former Warner Brothers associates, Hollywood Be Thy Name transports readers back to the beginnings of the movie era and into the lives of Hollywood's most enduring legends.
