This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing VLSI systems represents a challenging task. It is a transfonnation among different specifications corresponding to different levels of design: abstraction, behavioral, stntctural and physical. The behavioral level describes the functionality of the design. It consists of two components; static and dynamic. The static component describes operations, whereas the dynamic component describes sequencing and timing. The structural level contains infonnation about components, control and connectivity. The physical level describes the constraints that should be imposed on the floor plan, the placement of components, and the geometry of the design. Constraints of area, speed and power are also applied at this level. To implement such multilevel transfonnation, a design methodology should be devised, taking into consideration the constraints, limitations and properties of each level. The mapping process between any of these domains is non-isomorphic. A single behavioral component may be transfonned into more than one structural component. Design methodologies are the most recent evolution in the design automation era, which started off with the introduction and subsequent usage of module generation especially for regular structures such as PLA's and memories. A design methodology should offer an integrated design system rather than a set of separate unrelated routines and tools. A general outline of a desired integrated design system is as follows: * Decide on a certain unified framework for all design levels. * Derive a design method based on this framework. * Create a design environment to implement this design method.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the use of wireless devices becomes widespread, so does the need for strong and secure transport protocols. Even with this intensified need for securing systems, using cryptography does not seem to be a viable solution due to difficulties in implementation. The security layers of many wireless protocols use outdated encryption algorithms, which have proven unsuitable for hardware usage, particularly with handheld devices. Summarizing key issues involved in achieving desirable performance in security implementations, Wireless Security and Cryptography: Specifications and Implementations focuses on alternative integration approaches for wireless communication security. It gives an overview of the current security layer of wireless protocols and presents the performance characteristics of implementations in both software and hardware. This resource also presents efficient and novel methods to execute security schemes in wireless protocols with high performance. It provides the state of the art research trends in implementations of wireless protocol security for current and future wireless communications. Unique in its coverage of specification and implementation concerns that include hardware design techniques, Wireless Security and Cryptography: Specifications and Implementations provides thorough coverage of wireless network security and recent research directions in the field.

Book excerpt: It was the aim of the conference to present issues in parallel computing to a community of potential engineering/scientific users. An overview of the state-of-the-art in several important research areas is given by leading scientists in their field. The classification question is taken up at various points, ranging from parametric characterizations, communication structure, and memory distribution to control and execution schemes. Central issues in multiprocessing hardware and operation, such as scalability, techniques of overcoming memory latency and synchronization overhead, as well as fault tolerance of communication networks are discussed. The problem of designing and debugging parallel programs in a user-friendly environment is addressed and a number of program transformations for enhancing vectorization and parallelization in a variety of program situations are described. Two different algorithmic techniques for the solution of certain classes of partial differential equations are discussed. The properties of domain-decomposition algorithms and their mapping onto a CRAY-XMP-type architecture are investigated and an overview is given of the merit of various approaches to exploiting the acceleration potential of multigrid methods. Finally, an abstract performance modeling technique for the behavior of applications on parallel and vector architectures is described.
