Each page in this journal gets its own drawing prompt, giving you tons of room to make your creations come to life (no cramming multiple prompts onto one page like those other drawing books out there!) One of the hardest things to do as an artist is coming up with ideas to draw. This book takes the guesswork out of wondering what to create, leaving you more time to do what matters...DRAWING! With entries like "pig playing poker," "meditating monk," and "pineapple wearing sunglasses," you won't be stuck drawing boring prompts for a year! Great for all ages and experience levels...it doesn't matter if you are just starting out or looking to continue your artistic journey, drawing every day is the best way to improve your skills! This sketchbook is the perfect gift for so many occasions! Kids, teens and adults will love this book that is sure to get the creative juices flowing! (*Note-each page contains a drawing prompt phrase and blank area to draw. This book does not teach you how to draw, nor does it show examples. Drawing prompt books are intended to inspire the artist with a daily subject in order for them to stay motivated and to create their own masterpiece!)

Book excerpt: JAPAN 365 is the Essential art book of Japan. An excellent hand-drawn retrospective and an amazing feat of sustained creativity. Entirely bilingual in English and Japanese. Artist and English teacher J Muzacz set out on a journey with some sketchbooks and ordinary ball pens. A test of artistic endurance, J drew an A4 (8.5in. x 11in.) piece for everyday of 2011 while living, working and traveling in Japan-A Drawing-A-Day Project for 365 days. Delving into history books for classic traditional imagery and embarking on broken bilingual conversations with locals about hidden shrines, temples and festivals, helping harvest rice, eating strange food, dissecting fashion and more, J has unearthed some real gems that many Japanese people do not even know about. Working from life and with stills captured by some of Japan's finest photographers, depicting Hokkaido in the arctic north to Okinawa in the tropical south and everywhere in between, J has captured history, culture and current events in stark and striking black and white, reminiscent of Japan's archetypal art style-the Hanga woodblock print. Images range from beautiful landscapes to scenes of unsettling tsunami aftermath, women wearing kimono to unfinished old faces-- always evocative and educational, insightful explanations or anecdotes on every page, laid out clearly in both English and Japanese. Muzacz re-establishes artwork as a viable means to record a unique folk history while still communicating universal human tendencies and timeless natural beauty. Let us not forget that visual art is a valuable story-telling medium which transcends language barriers. Japan 365 is a must-have for aspiring artists or architects, Japan-o-philes of any kind, Asian art aficionados, anyone interested in Japanese language, history and culture, or simply someone in need of a little daily creative inspiration. Japan 365 is a useful Art/Reference volume, cultural study, coffee table book and more. You definitely want to add this one-of-a-kind book to your collection.

To conquer the intimidating prospect of filling 365 blank pages, Draw Every Day, Draw Every Way is divided into monthly themes, with undated daily prompts that suggest what to draw each day. You can work through the journal from front to back, or jump around and draw whatever appeals to you at the time. Monthly themes include: A month of nature A month of your favorite things A month of characters A month of print and patterns Jennifer Orkin Lewis (aka @augustwren) encourages experimentation with a one-page tutorial at the beginning of each month that outlines accessible ways to draw with different materials, such as ballpoint pens, colored pencils, paint, and collage. Coupled with sections of varying paper types, there is an unlimited canvas available to flourish artistically; brown craft paper pairs well with black ink and white pencil, black paper is great for white and metallic gel pens, and heavy white paper is included for painting. The journal is not only useful as a stress-reliever and as a mode of personal exploration, but also as a way of changing visual thinking. And when completed, it will serve as a reflection of its owner. With prompts, tutorials, and unique packaging, Draw Every Day, Draw Every Way is a must-have for those looking to sketch and doodle their way out of an inspirational rut.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHAT BENEFITS CAN BE EXPECTED? After some time (first effects are visible after about 22 days) our drawing becomes more free and automatic, we become more creative. Of course, there are also more difficult days, but they are not so frequent. We get to know the materials used so far better and discover new forms of expression. We discover our own style of drawing (however, we shouldn't focus too much on it, it's better if it comes out the same with time). Such a challenge is particularly beneficial for people who also have other obligations such as employment, childcare, school. Time is then very limited and you have to really make an effort to build a permanent habit that other responsibilities will not absorb. In order not to fail, you need to prepare yourself as well as possible for the challenge. How? To announce publicly that you are taking up the challenge Ask a trusted person to watch over us a little, remind us of the challenge if necessary. At the very beginning, it may get out of our minds in some difficult circumstances that we should sit down to draw. You can also set yourself an alarm on your phone. Prepare yourself a workstation and draw most often at one time of the day. It is easier to sit down and just start drawing if you have everything at hand. Link a new habit to an existing one - it will take better. If, for example, you eat lunch at one time every day, assume that you draw after lunch. Prepare yourself properly for the problem "I don't know what to draw". Build your own inspiration bank, about which I wrote here . This way you will avoid sitting for hours over an empty sheet of paper. Don't demand too much from yourself at first. You have a hard day - draw anything. Draw your previous drawing or draw a picture inspired by someone else's work (if you publish such an illustration, write about it and give the author). Practice the basics on a given day and warm up your hand. If you spend at least 10 minutes drawing, you are one small step ahead. This way you will not panic. Our brain unfortunately reacts to every change with stress. The more we care, the worse this reaction is. So it is better to start with small things and, as you get used to the subject, move on to bigger and more complicated ones.
