Management skills are easier to understand than general social skills. This is because the defining characteristic of a skill is a purpose. Skills, like purposes, are inherently to do with people. It follows that the 'skills view' of management will be as a people-based activity. Individuals carry out management tasks and these tasks always involve other individuals, of whom some are subordinate, some superior and some equivalent within the hierarchy of the particular management organization. The concept of a hierarchy is as central to management as it is to skills. The alternative to hier archy is anarchy. Management is not solely concerned with people.

Then, the t-test and discriminant analysis are used to identify how banks across different demographic groups place different emphases on these indicators. Lastly, these indicators are summarized into key themes via factor analysis.

The results of this study can (a) potentially assist new CTPMs, (b) provide a refresher for CTPMs seeking improvement, (c) provide support for project managers in general, and (d) may assist hiring managers in determining the leadership skills to seek. The results from this study may support the project, program, and portfolio managers from various industries to better understand the leadership competencies and the overall framework that support project management. At the same time, these 5 themes, interpreted in the broadest terms, may be helpful to you!
