Es ist ein soziales Thema, bei dem jeder mitsprechen kann, jeder war einmal Kind, hat selber Kinder oder Kinder in näherer Umgebung. Doch wie komplex und wichtig das Spiel für die Kinder wirklich ist, wird erst bei genauerer Betrachtung des Themas deutlich. In der Uni begann das Thema Kinderspiel mit der Bitte dieses zu Definieren und die eigene Vorstellung darzulegen. Es fiel nicht schwer treffende Worte zu finden, dies jedoch in eine Schlüssige Definition von ein paar Sätzen zu fassen, in der alle wichtigen Aspekte vorhanden sind, dagegen schon. Es wurden offensichtliche Punkte wie Freude, Freiheit und Freiwilligkeit genannt. Im späteren Verlauf der Seminare kamen sehr viel mehr Aspekte hinzu. Ich habe nach und nach erfahren, wie Komplex und wichtig das Thema ist, was mich zu der Entscheidung geführt hat, mich in meiner Hausarbeit mit dem Thema der Psychologie des Kinderspiels und der damit verbundenen Wichtigkeit für die kindliche Entwicklung, auseinander zu setzen.

Er befasste sich neben der Theorie des Spiels u.a. auch mit der Pädagogik des Vor- und Grundschulalters und erarbeitete zusammen mit Vasilij Davydov die Theorie des entwickelnden Unterrichts. Die vorliegende Neuauflage von El`konin „Psychologie des Spiels“ ist der Nachdruck der ersten deutschsprachigen Ausgabe. Sie enthält ergänzend das Vorwort von Boris El`konin und wurde von den Herausgebern mit einem neuen Editorial versehen.
