Book excerpt: In die Soziale Arbeit werden manchmal Methoden aus anderen Disziplinen übernommen, oft mit der Erwartung, dass sich so die Professionalisierung vorantreiben lasse. In den letzten Jahren hat vor allem der lösungsorientierte Beratungsansatz nach Steve de Shazer Anklang gefunden. Das lösungsorientierte Beratungsmodell geht von bestimmten Grundannahmen aus und verfügt über ein gut ausgebautes Instrumentarium. Mit seiner radikalen Haltung, den Fokus auf Ressourcen und Stärken der Klientinnen und Klienten statt auf Defizite zu legen, hat dieser Ansatz wichtige Impulse in die Soziale Arbeit getragen. Doch die Soziale Arbeit hat auch einen gesellschaftlichen Auftrag - sie soll zur Lösung von sozialen Problemen beitragen. Daran muss sich die lösungsorientierte Methode messen lassen. Wenn wir professionelles Handeln als problemlösungsorientierte Aktivität verstehen, so gehört die sorgfältige Erläuterung sozialer Problemsituationen und die begründete Prognose mit zur Praxis. Probleme werden dadurch reflektierbar, erst auf einer solchen Grundlage lässt sich die Problemlösungsmethode herleiten. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt sich die Frage, ob und wie der lösungsorientierte Ansatz, der einen Zusammenhang zwischen Problemen und Lösungen negiert, in der Sozialarbeit sinnvoll angewendet werden kann. Auf der Basis von Silvia Staub-Bernasconis Theorie, deren Ansatz für eine theoretisch fundierte Soziale Arbeit steht, wird die Leistungsfähigkeit der lösungsorientierten Methode in der Sozialarbeit kritisch hinterfragt. Fazit: Die Methode ist im Kontext der Sozialen Arbeit nur anwendbar, wenn bestimmte Bedingungen erfüllt sind und traditionelle Grundannahmen der Methode einer dezidierten Revision unterzogen werden.
