Nicht nur für Außenstehende wie meine hier zitierten Bekannten ist beim Thema Glaube dementsprechend auch Unwissen - genauer Ungewissheit - sowohl eine unumstößliche als auch unumgehbare Konstante. Diese könnte als Schwäche oder gar Angriffspunkt für weitere hartnäckige Fragen seitens meiner Bekannten verstanden werden, welche, zumindest aus atheistischer Sicht, nicht zufriedenstellend beantwortet werden können. Was folgt und vorerst auch bleibt ist Folgendes: Skepsis. Hans-Martin Barth versucht in "Dogmatik: Evangelischer Glaube im Kontext der Weltreligionen" mehr als zehn Jahre vor jenen Diskussionen den Spieß umzudrehen und stellt folgende, gewissermaßen radikale These auf: "Der christliche Glaube wagt Skepsis". Er, der Glaube, hält jene Skepsis (scheinbar) gewollt aus, strapaziert sich dadurch selbst und ist sich dem vollends bewusst, da er, so Barth, "ein Vertrauen darstellt", welches der Anwender des Glaubens - der Gläubige - innehaben muss, um letztendlich überhaupt in einem religiösen Kontext glauben zu können. Ohne gelebte Ungewissheit ist demnach Glaube nach Barth letztlich kaum vorstellbar.
