Download or read book Lion's Cry written by Bethuel Sithole and published by Bethuel Sithole. This book was released on with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lions cry the book is about the wild lions that are in declining, information’s about them and the biggest threat to them. The new report on lions trophy hunting, reminds us that the problems lions face are actually much broader and more damaging than most people realize. Lion bones, which can substitute for tiger bones, are used in East Asian countries including China as medicinal remedies said to treat a wide range of ailments from insomnia to osteoporosis. The other parts of lions such as whiskers, fat and tails have always had a traditional value and use in many African nations as medicines, talismans and components of ceremonial and ritual practices. Before the lion never had any traditional value in China, but it’s an analog to the tiger so it seems to be acceptable. Illegal trade remains difficult because, despite lions’ declining populations, there is actually still a legal trade in lion bones. The things that most of us do not know are that the demand of lion’s bones is growing every day. Customs officials that are trying to block illegal shipments of ivory or rhino horn have started to notice lion parts nestled inside the same containers. The conservation world started to become increasingly nervous about where the trade might be headed and what impact it would have on wild populations. As the price of bones is rising steadily, some breeders have started slaughtering their own lions, without obtaining a permit or getting a vet to put the animal to sleep," says a fraud inspector. The South African Department of Environmental Affairs has raised concerns that the demand for lion bones could potentially threaten South Africa’s 2,000 wild lions. On the other hand TB on the lions looks like malaria and know is killing more lions than before. Lions are thought to contract TB from infected prey species, especially buffalo, being exposed to the bacterium that causes the disease when they eat infected animals. And all the questions you may have about lions.

Book excerpt: I was twenty-one years old when I wrote this book, and I decided to write this book because I felt like some people might feel like they were fighting lifes battles alone. I wanted people to know that theyre not alone and that people are there for them. I wanted to fill people in on what they couldnt see around them, and I also wanted to let people know that their voice is important and that they define their own voice but no one else can speak for them in all honesty. In this book, I talked about how humans are only humans, so they shouldn't be ashamed to cryman or woman. Crying doesn't make you weak; it means your human. Its actually worrisome if you dont cry.

Book Synopsis The Cry of Nature by : Stephen F. Eisenman
Download or read book The Cry of Nature written by Stephen F. Eisenman and published by Reaktion Books. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The eighteenth century saw the rise of new and more sympathetic understanding of animals as philosophy, literature, and art argued that animals could feel and therefore possess inalienable rights. This idea gave birth to a diverse movement that affects how we understand our relationship to the natural world. The Cry of Nature details a crucial period in the history of this movement, revealing the significant role art played in the growth of animal rights. Stephen F. Eisenman shows how artists from William Hogarth to Pablo Picasso and Sue Coe have represented the suffering, chastisement, and execution of animals. These artists, he demonstrates, illustrate the lessons of Montaigne, Rousseau, Darwin, Freud, and others—that humans and animals share an evolutionary heritage of sentience, intelligence, and empathy, and thus animals deserve equal access to the domain of moral right. Eisenman also traces the roots of speciesism to the classical world and describes the social role of animals in the demand for emancipation. Instructive, challenging, and always engaging, The Cry of Nature is a book for anyone interested in animal rights, art history, and the history of ideas.

Book Synopsis The Psychology of Early Childhood by : C.W. Valentine
Download or read book The Psychology of Early Childhood written by C.W. Valentine and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-06-05 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1942, this title attempted to trace, from their very earliest appearances after birth, all aspects of mental development in childhood up to the age of about 4 or 5. It is based largely on the author’s almost daily observations of his own five children, over a period of some twenty years, supplemented by numerous tests and experiments. The first purpose of this book was to advance our knowledge of the psychology of childhood. The importance of such knowledge had become increasingly recognised. Even if not all is completely determined in the first 4-5 years, there was little doubt by this time that these first years are of profound significance for future development: and the better understanding and training of the young child may be at the root of many of our educational and social problems.
