He could also feel a cold evil, an evil not of this world, which made him all the more scared. He was shaking nonstop. There was a wet sucking, like something being pulled apart. He didn't even want to breathe. He could not believe he had pissed on himself. Lord God help me. It doesn't stop there... Now Captain Ed Long has to explain what has happened out on FM 240 road. He stood there beside the car thinking how the hell he was going to tell the dispatch when he called. It's new, it's hot ...

The producing power per man has fallen off from fifteen to twenty percent. We have all been keen on developing consumption. We have devoted nine-tenths of our thought, energy and effort to developing consumption. This message is to beg of every reader to give more thought to developing production, to the reviving of a desire to produce and the realization of joy in production. –Foreword

This book was released on 2021-01-25 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last decade, there has been a surge of interest in urbanization and economic development, sparked by the realization that making urban life sustainable is one of the greatest challenges facing us in the 21st century (this is now one of the core sustainable development goals of the United Nations). This has exerted considerable pressure on researchers to come up with more scientific ways of studying urbanism and economic activity over the long run, which has resulted not only in the development of new theoretical frameworks, but also in the collection of vast amounts of data from a range of settings. This has led to the realization that, although there are significant differences between settlements in different settings, there are nonetheless important regularities and commonalities between a diverse group of settlements in range of geographical and historical contexts, including both ancient and modern ones. This suggests that a common feature of settlements is their ability to generate increased social connectivity, greater division of labour and specialization, and enhanced technological invention and innovation, albeit with costs to levels of equality, quality of life, and standards of living, as well as impacts on the environment, which cannot be separated from the emergence of confederations and states and the creation of settlement systems, hierarchies and networks. We believe that this field of enquiry now stands at a critical juncture. Although it is now feasible to talk about many aspects of ancient and modern urbanism with relative confidence, such as the numbers of cities or their sizes, much of the discussion of these themes within historical and archaeological circles has been on a discursive or qualitative level, while it is often difficult to harmonize the different models that have been applied to date into a consistent empirical and theoretical framework. A new approach to settlements throughout different contexts should now be within our grasp, however, thanks to both the ease with which information can be disseminated and the facilities that recent developments in IT offer us to model, analyse, and statistically test data.

This complete summary of the ideas from Rob Adams' book "If You Build It Will They Come?" shows that successful entrepreneurs don’t just plunge in without doing their research: before investing money they prove that a market exists, and that the market is commercially viable. This summary demonstrates that though this process is crucial, it need not be too difficult or time-consuming. A robust market validation process takes about 60-days and involves three steps: figure out whether or not your idea is worth pursuing by objectively evaluating your idea and the size of the potential market (2-3 days); reach out to your market and systematically gather data from multiple sources on what your future customers think of your idea (50 days); follow through and blast into the market by using the data you’ve gathered to launch, market and sell your product the smart way (7-8 days). He takes the reader through specific steps in the process, and the questions an entrepreneur should ask. Added-value of this summary: • Save time • Understand the key concepts • Increase your business knowledge To learn more, read "If You Build It Will They Come?" and discover a blueprint for savvy, common sense investment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first in a steampunk paranormal romance series in which a woman is transported to a world filled with vampires and magic. When nurse Tish Everett forced open the lovely locket she found at an estate sale, she had no idea she was answering the call of Criminy Stain, from the far off land of Sang. He’d cast a spell for her, but when she’s transported right to him, she’s not so sure she’s ready to be under the spell of another man. If only Criminy wasn’t so deliciously rakish… Half the inhabitants of Sang are Pinkies—human—and the other half are Bludmen, who in Tish’s world would be called vampires. But they don’t mess with any of the bat/coffin/no sunlight nonsense. They’re rather like you and me, just more fabulous, long living, and mostly indestructible—they’re also very good kissers. But when the evil Mayor of Manchester (formerly Bludchester) redoubles his efforts to rid Sang of the Bludmen once and for all, he steals Tish’s locket in hopes of traveling back to her world himself for reinforcements. Criminy and Tish must now battle ghosts, sea monsters, wayward submarines, a secret cabal, and thundering Bludmares to get the locket back and allow Tish to return home…but has she found love with Criminy? Could she stay in Sang forever?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The “remarkable” story of the grass-roots movement that freed millions of Jews from the Soviet Union (The Plain Dealer). At the end of World War II, nearly three million Jews were trapped inside the USSR. They lived a paradox—unwanted by a repressive Stalinist state, yet forbidden to leave. When They Come for Us, We’ll Be Gone is the astonishing and inspiring story of their rescue. Journalist Gal Beckerman draws on newly released Soviet government documents as well as hundreds of oral interviews with refuseniks, activists, Zionist “hooligans,” and Congressional staffers. He shows not only how the movement led to a mass exodus in 1989, but also how it shaped the American Jewish community, giving it a renewed sense of spiritual purpose and teaching it to flex its political muscle. Beckerman also makes a convincing case that the effort put human rights at the center of American foreign policy for the very first time, helping to end the Cold War. This “wide-ranging and often moving” book introduces us to all the major players, from the flamboyant Meir Kahane, head of the paramilitary Jewish Defense League, to Soviet refusenik Natan Sharansky, who labored in a Siberian prison camp for over a decade, to Lynn Singer, the small, fiery Long Island housewife who went from organizing local rallies to strong-arming Soviet diplomats (The New Yorker). This “excellent” multigenerational saga, filled with suspense and packed with revelations, provides an essential missing piece of Cold War and Jewish history (The Washington Post).
