Book excerpt: Steve Deace represents a new generation of conservatives more concerned with preserving liberty than blind partisanship that only props up a corrupt ruling class. To Deace and the millions of grassroots patriots he represents, it's not just Right vs. Left, but Right vs. Wrong. It's not just Republican vs. Democrat, but Us vs. Them. Many great books have been written about what we should believe and why, but for the first time, in Rules for Patriots, the author shows how to do what we believe.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "With Christ in the Voting Booth is not a dated Voter's Guide that promotes certain candidates and after the election becomes as useful as day-old toast. Instead, Shedlock has written a book that addresses issues that crop up in every election. What if the candidate isn't fully pro-life? What if he or she wants to raise my taxes? What about third parties, or sitting it out altogether?" Governor Mike Huckabee Know who to vote for doesn't always come easy for the Christian. No unambiguous voice from heaven whispers: "This is my candidate, vote for him." Even though almost every candidate in America makes a Christian profession, most of us know some Christians we wouldn't trust with a loaded BB gun, let alone access to the launch button of the world's largest cache of nuclear weapons. Thankfully, God has given us His Word, "The Ultimate Voter's Guide." Using the Bible, With Christ in the Voting Booth provides us tools to resist Government Too Small and Government Too Big, while embracing Government Just Right, not based on false promises and "Christian" utopian fantasies, but rather the most important political success story of all: The Voter (and Governor) Who Pleases God. David Shedlock graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and received his Master's Degree in English as a Second Language from Minnesota State University (Mankato). He is a leading contributor and assistant editor to the blog, Caffeinated Thoughts and its companion site Caffeinated Theology. Download or read book Becoming Whole written by Brian Fikkert and published by Moody Publishers. This book was released on 2019-03-05 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Western Civilization is wealthier, but it isn’t happier. We are the richest people ever to walk the face of the earth, but according to research, we aren’t becoming happier. Families and communities are increasingly fragmented, loneliness is skyrocketing, and physical and mental health are on the decline. Our unprecedented wealth doesn’t seem to be doing us much good. Yet, when we try to help poor people at home or abroad, our implicit assumption is that the goal is to help them to become like us. "If they would just do things our way, they’d be fine!" But even when they seem to pursue our path, they too find that the American Dream doesn’t work for them. What if we have the wrong idea altogether? What if the molds we are using to help poor people don’t actually fit any of us? What if the goal isn’t to turn other countries into the United States or to turn America’s impoverished communities into its affluent suburbs? In Becoming Whole (building on the best-selling When Helping Hurts), Brian Fikkert and Kelly M. Kapic look at the true sources of brokenness and poverty and uncover the surprising pathways to human flourishing, for poor and non-poor alike. Exposing the misconceptions of both Western Civilization and the Western church about the nature of God, human beings, and the world, they redefine success and offer new ways of achieving that success. Through biblical insights, scientific research, and practical experience, they show you how the good news of the kingdom of God reshapes our lives and our poverty alleviation ministries, moving everybody involved towards wholeness.

Book Synopsis Feminist New Testament Studies by : K. Wicker
Download or read book Feminist New Testament Studies written by K. Wicker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-27 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is an engaging and provocative introduction to Feminist Biblical Studies. The authors draw upon their own social, cultural and religious backgrounds and experiences in reading the New Testament as feminists in the context of globalization. They provide intentional interpretations of biblical texts that cast gender, race, class and power relationships as issues inherent in both the content and context of scripture and its interpretation. The essays call into question feminist social engagement that does not extend beyond academic halls, churches and Christians, suggesting directions for future research and teaching in Feminist Biblical Studies.
Book Synopsis Make America Christian Again by : Greg Koehn Ph.D
Download or read book Make America Christian Again written by Greg Koehn Ph.D and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Obviously, this book finds its title from the slogan created by former president Donald Trump Make America Great Again. This book is intended to argue, that for America to be great, it must be Christian. This does not mean that other religions are not welcome as has never been the case in America, but rather as a country based upon biblical principles, there has always been true freedom of religion. The point being that this country was founded upon the teachings of the Bible which is why there is freedom of religion, each person is free to choose for themselves either heaven or hell. This book is divided into three sections, the first one discussing the fact that America was founded as a Christian nation and as such it grew to be the most powerful and prosperous nation on the earth. Since departing from the Bible, its teachings and its God, America is now in a steep decline. The second section discusses the 5 main institutions of any society and how that in each case, they work better when they follow the teachings and principles of the Bible. The final section is what can still be done to turn America back to its roots and back to the Bible. As Bible believers, we know the time is short and the coming of our Lord to take home His people and to judge the world in His righteousness is indeed imminent. But in these last days, lest us not be lax in the preaching of the gospel and making a stand for the things that are holy. Let us get off of our seats, onto our feet and into the streets, to be as the prophets of old and declare that thus says the Lord.

Book Synopsis Choosing Donald Trump by : Stephen Mansfield
Download or read book Choosing Donald Trump written by Stephen Mansfield and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2016 election of Donald J. Trump exposed a deep divide in American politics and culture, one that pollsters and pundits didn't seem to realize was there. But Trump did, and he used it to his advantage in ways that surprised nearly everyone, even those who voted for him. Perhaps the biggest question on many people's minds is how, exactly, did a crass, unrepentant reality TV star and cutthroat business tycoon secure the majority of the religious conservative vote? Now the New York Times bestselling author of The Faith of George W. Bush and The Faith of Barack Obama turns his pen toward the Trump phenomenon. Through meticulous research and personal interviews, Stephen Mansfield uncovers who Trump's spiritual influences have been and explains why Christian conservatives were attracted to this unlikely candidate. The book ends with a reflection on the vital role of prophetic distance, both historically and now.

Book Synopsis Taking America Back for God by : Andrew L. Whitehead
Download or read book Taking America Back for God written by Andrew L. Whitehead and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why do white Protestants in America embrace a president who seems to violate their basic standards of morality? The answer, Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry argue, is "Christian nationalism," the belief that the United States is -- and should be -- a Christian nation. Knowing someone's stance on Christian nationalism, this book shows, tells us more about his or her political beliefs than race, religion, or political party. Drawing on national survey data and interviews with Americans across the political spectrum, Taking America Back for God illustrates the tremendous influence of Christian nationalism on debates about the most contentious issues dominating American public life.

Book Synopsis Trump and the Protestant Reaction to Make America Great Again by : Matthew Rowley
Download or read book Trump and the Protestant Reaction to Make America Great Again written by Matthew Rowley and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-11-01 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how polarised interpretations of America’s past influence the present and vice versa. A focus on competing Protestant reactions to President Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan evidences a fundamental divide over how America should remember historical racism, sexism and exploitation. Additionally, these Protestants disagree over how the past influences present injustice and equality. The 2020 killing of George Floyd forced these rival histories into the open. Rowley proposes that recovering a complex view of the past, confessing the bad and embracing the good, might help Americans have a shared memory that can bridge polarisation and work to secure justice and equality. An accessible and timely book, this is essential reading for those concerned with the vexed relationship of religion and politics in the United States, including students and scholars in the fields of Protestantism, history, political science, religious studies and sociology.
