Book excerpt: This book is one of the many Islamic publications distributed by Mustafa Organization throughout the world in different languages with the aim of conveying the message of Islam to the people of the world. Mustafa Organization is a registered Organization that operates and is sustained through collaborative efforts of volunteers in many countries around the world, and it welcomes your involvement and support. Its objectives are numerous, yet its main goal is to spread the truth about the Islamic faith in general and the Shi`a School of Thought in particular due to the latter being misrepresented, misunderstood and its tenets often assaulted by many ignorant folks, Muslims and non-Muslims. Organization's purpose is to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge through a global medium, the Internet, to locations where such resources are not commonly or easily accessible or are resented, resisted and fought!

Book excerpt: Far more than a book, 'Visions of Reality - Art of Synthesis' is an invitation for you to partake in the secret of life itself, and 'life' in this instance is you, the reader. The relationship you have with the material held within its pages enables it to be transformed and taken forward into your world, to create your reality. YOU, quite literally, breathe life into the form. A synthesis of striking image, symbol and poetry, grounded in ancient wisdom from timeless spiritual traditions, it leads you onwards to surrender all, in favour of that which you know to be your true essence. If you value all that is light and true, and sincerely seek to move beyond the confines of separation consciousness, then please open your heart and accept this invitation... "Have you the courage? Dare you be free?" ..".one of the most original books that I ever read and I have been fascinated by its content. The pictures, together with an almost poetical text, will help the reader to enter a spiritual consciousness that will lighten the mind on the journey through this life." Ann Richards, Apple Pips Editing Services. "Barbara's work organically invites a process of unfolding timeless inner wisdom...it enables a process of awakening the inner teacher and connects profound understanding from the light of truth of our own inner source into our daily challenges." Ronald Holt. Director Flower of Life Research USA. "It is rare to find a book of this genre that can be worked with wherever you are on your spiral of development, a book of wisdom that generously empowers you to see your own inner sacredness. Both transpersonal and Alchemical, it really does what it says on the cover; it is the "Art of Synthesis" Angela Morse. Book excerpt: In an age when political correctness, ideological myopia, political partisanship, and other sundry inanities have utterly mangled truth and clear insight beyond all recognition, nothing can be more to the purpose than an open and honest examination of some of the more salient issues confronting the civilized world. In Visions of Reality: Viewing Old Problems in a New Light, philosopher and independent scholar Greg Nyquist takes a fresh look at some of the central issues confronting civilized man in the twenty-first century, eschewing the conventional platitudes that have enveloped them and instead opting to go wherever the evidence leads. Essays on conservatism, democracy, moral externalities, the psychopathology of the left, economics, business cycles, and intuition all bring a fresh perspective on some of the chief problems tormenting mankind. The book concludes with two ambitious essays on the meaning of life. The essay "Realism and the Spiritual Life" attempts to give an unbiased, agenda-free account of the evidence for and against theism. The book concludes with essay "Freedom and the Spontaneous Universe," which introduces a bold conjecture that rejects the determinism implicit in the cosmologies of neo-darwinists and creationists in favor of a vision of the universe that is compatible with mankind's experience of individual initiative and freedom.

One knows that in order to exist, each positive must have a negative. Life always balances the scale of joy and ecstasy with the weight of pain and sorrow. The second of three volumes titled Visions of Reality is a mixture of joy and happiness mingled with the pain and sorrows that I conveyed as making life meaningful and rewarding. My visions of what life can be, as opposed to actuality, encourage the reader to maintain hope and assurance in trusting a higher being, God, to comfort and sustain them during the darkest hour. Through the reading of these poems, the reader will gain a quest for understanding love while not rejecting disparity.

Kupfer argues that film fictions can be integral to moral reflection, and thus by examining the narrative and cinematic aspects of popular films, we can derive important moral truths about people and their behavior. Taking as his base a classical conception of virtue and vice, Kupfer offers an in-depth examination of Groundhog Day, The African Queen, Parenthood, Rob Roy, Fresh, Jaws, and Aliens in order to investigate the value of virtue within ever-widening social contexts.

Book excerpt: Foreword Review's Annual INDIEFAB Book of the Year Finalist Outreach Resource of the Year Christianity Today Award of Merit Leadership Journal Best Books for Church Leaders Book of the Year from Byron Borger, Hearts and Minds Bookstore Is it possible to know the world and still love the world? Of all the questions we ask about our calling, this is the most difficult. From marriages to international relations, the more we know, the harder it is to love. We become cynics or stoics, protecting our hearts from the implications of what we know. But what if the vision of vocation can be recovered—allowing us to step into the wounds of the world and for love's sake take up our responsibility for the way the world turns out? For decades Steve Garber has come alongside a wide range of people as they seek to make sense of the world and their lives. With him we meet leaders from the Tiananmen Square protest who want a good reason to still care about China. We also meet with many ordinary people in ordinary places who long for their lives to matter: Jonathan who learned he would rather build houses than study history Todd and Maria who adopted creative schedules so they could parent better and practice medicine D.J. who helped Congress move into the Internet Age Robin who spends her life on behalf of urban justice Hans who makes hamburgers the way they are meant to be made Susan who built a home business of hand-printing stationary using a letterpress Santiago who works with majority-world nations in need of capital George who has given years to teaching students to learn things that matter most Claudius and Deirdre whose openhearted home has always been a place for people Dan who loves Wyoming, the place, its people and its cows Vocation is when we come to know the world in all its joy and pain and still love it. Vocation is following our calling to seek the welfare of the world we live in. And in helping the world to flourish, strangely, mysteriously, we find that we flourish too. Garber offers a book for everyone everywhere—for students, for parents, for those in the arts, in the academy, in public service, in the trades and in commerce—for all who want to discover the virtue of vocation.

Book excerpt: Thomas Sowell’s “extraordinary” explication of the competing visions of human nature lie at the heart of our political conflicts (New York Times) Controversies in politics arise from many sources, but the conflicts that endure for generations or centuries show a remarkably consistent pattern. In this classic work, Thomas Sowell analyzes this pattern. He describes the two competing visions that shape our debates about the nature of reason, justice, equality, and power: the "constrained" vision, which sees human nature as unchanging and selfish, and the "unconstrained" vision, in which human nature is malleable and perfectible. A Conflict of Visions offers a convincing case that ethical and policy disputes circle around the disparity between both outlooks.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has a question mark in its title because it aims to invite inquiry. The possibility of integrating psychoanalytic and behavior therapies has been controversial since it was first proposed about 50 years ago, and this has elicited a wide range of reactions from both psychologists and psy chiatrists. It was with the hope of fostering constructive interchange that this book was conceived. We wanted to spark further thinking about the question in the title in a way that could lead either to conceptual and clinical progress toward an integrated approach or to a clearer sense of the obstacles involved. In either case, we hoped that it would present a healthy challenge to current forms of psychoanalytic and behavior therapies. The present volume was stimulated by the appearance in 1977 of Paul Wachtel's book Psychoanalysis and Behavior Therapy: Toward an Integration. Al though many reviewers did not necessarily agree with Wachtel's proposals for integration, they (and we) were highly laudatory of his attempt. After reading the book, Hal Arkowitz organized a symposium on integration that took place in Chicago at the November 1978 meeting of the Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy. The symposium included Cyril Franks, Merton Gill, Hans Strupp, Paul Wachtel, and Michael Merbaum as moderator. Arkowitz subsequently proposed to edit a book on integra tion and invited Messer to be coeditor.

You decide.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Respected Prophetic Leader Offers Biblically Grounded Predictions for What Is to Come R. Loren Sandford has long been internationally respected as a grounded and insightful prophetic leader. A regular writer for Charisma magazine's Prophetic Insight newsletter, he has cast a poignant prophetic vision for Christians everywhere during these uncertain times. Using Amos 2 and 3, Sandford presents detailed predictions of the days to come. He reveals the pattern of indictments and penalties leveled against Israel back then that mirror America and the Western world today. Yet within his sober reflection, he reveals the heart of the Father and the hope of glory for the body of Christ. With clarity and piercing biblical insight, he helps believers understand what is to come, and he gives them practical advice on how to prepare spiritually--for the events that will unfold and for their role in all of it.
