Book Synopsis The Future of God by : Deepak Chopra, M.D.
Download or read book The Future of God written by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2015-11-10 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the New York Times Bestselling Author. Can God be revived in a skeptical age? What would it take to give people a spiritual life more powerful than anything in the past? Deepak Chopra tackles these issues with eloquence and insight in this book. He proposes that God lies at the source of human awareness. Therefore, any person can find the God within that transforms everyday life. God is in trouble. The rise of the militant atheist movement spearheaded by Richard Dawkins signifies, to many, that the deity is an outmoded myth in the modern world. Deepak Chopra passionately disagrees, seeing the present moment as the perfect time for making spirituality what it really should be: reliable knowledge about higher reality. Outlining a path to God that turns unbelief into the first step of awakening, Deepak shows us that a crisis of faith is like the fire we must pass through on the way to power, truth, and love. “Faith must be saved for everyone’s sake,” he writes. “From faith springs a passion for the eternal, which is even stronger than love. Many of us have lost that passion or have never known it.” In any age, faith is a cry from the heart. God is the higher consciousness that responds to the cry. “By itself, faith can’t deliver God, but it does something more timely: It makes God possible.” For three decades, Deepak Chopra has inspired millions with his profound writing and teaching. With The Future of God, he invites us on a journey of the spirit, providing a practical path to understanding God and our own place in the universe. Now, is a moment of reinvigoration, he argues. Now is moment of renewal. Now is the future.

Download or read book Truth written by Paramhangsa Soham Swami and published by . This book was released on 2018-07-27 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TRUTH is a philosophical poem on the subject of non-dualism as elucidated by Vedanta. First published in 1913, it is the first philosophical English work in poetry. Though it was the normal practice among the ancient and medieval Indian authors to present not only the philosophical thoughts in verses but almost every Sanskrit work had been composed in the form of poetry, but in the English literary tradition versifying philosophies and discourses of academic importance is unheard of. In TRUTH, the Vedantin Parmahangsa Soham Swami for the first time used the poetic form to present the philosophy of Vedanta in English. TRUTH is unique. It does not introduce the reader to the precepts of Vedanta at the onset. The poet clarifies his intention in the initial lines - Truth have I realized so truth shall tell.To free thy mind from superstitious spell; He bewares the reader of the risks entailed in such revelations when he writes -Against my Truth they only may protest, Who think of nothing but self-interest. The greatest obstacle to free thinking is irrational belief. Soham Swami writes - That blind faith checks the free-thoughts of the mind And hinders progress all, of humankind;Through logical arguments the poet clarifies -To manufacture God, it's broadEfficient cause is man, Material's fancy, somewhere fraud, Now realize those who can. When the reader with 'unbiased' mind observes and judges "all in Truth's brilliant light," the reader realizes -Religions, cults and rites, - the gilded gyves, Fetter the people, whereby priesthood thrives; And that Benevolence and science can't allayThe grief, and thirst for more, and death, decay; The reader now desperate to know the truth asks What is creation, and its cause, Who am I, my supreme vocation? This is the right time to introduce the bewildered reader to the philosophy of Vedanta. Once again the poet uses logical arguments to demonstrate the Truth - Brahm thou art, nor portion, nor apart, Realize, restraining mind, that "that thou art'. For those interested in realizing the TRUTH, he guides them through the difficult terrain that leads to the Ultimate Truth that few are capable of traversing. About the Author: Paramhangsa Soham Swami (1858-1918) was a follower of the Indian tradition of non-dualism or Advaita Vedanta. Known as Shyamakanta Bandopadhyay (Banerjee) in his pre-monastic days, he was renowned for his extraordinary physical strength and exemplary courage. After graduating from Dacca College, he chose an unusual vocation - wrestling with wild tigers. He was revered by Indians and Europeans as Professor Banerjee, the first tiger tamer of India. However, at the age of 41, renouncing wealth, family and fame, he became an ascetic. Under the tutelage of his master Nabin Chandra Chakroborty alias Tibbatibaba he discovered the Absolute Truth.
