Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precipitation is a well-recognized pillar in global water and energy balances. An accurate and timely understanding of its characteristics at the global, regional, and local scales is indispensable for a clearer understanding of the mechanisms underlying the Earth’s atmosphere–ocean complex system. Precipitation is one of the elements that is documented to be greatly affected by climate change. In its various forms, precipitation comprises a primary source of freshwater, which is vital for the sustainability of almost all human activities. Its socio-economic significance is fundamental in managing this natural resource effectively, in applications ranging from irrigation to industrial and household usage. Remote sensing of precipitation is pursued through a broad spectrum of continuously enriched and upgraded instrumentation, embracing sensors which can be ground-based (e.g., weather radars), satellite-borne (e.g., passive or active space-borne sensors), underwater (e.g., hydrophones), aerial, or ship-borne.
Download or read book Rainfall written by Renato Morbidelli and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-01-21 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rainfall: Physical Process, Measurement, Data Analysis and Usage in Hydrological Investigations integrates different rainfall perspectives, from droplet formation and modeling developments to the experimental measurements and their analysis, to application in surface and subsurface hydrological investigations. Each chapter provides an updated representation of the involved subject with relative open problems and includes a case study at the end of the chapter. The book targets postgraduate readers studying meteorology, civil and environmental engineering, geophysics, agronomy and natural science, as well as practitioners working in the fields of hydrology, hydrogeology, agronomy and water resource management. Presents comprehensive coverage of rainfall-related topics, from the basic processes involved in the drop formation to data use and modeling Provides real-life examples for practical use in the form of a case study in each chapter

Book Synopsis Raindrop Distributions at Corvallis, Oregon by : Eugene Albert Mueller
Download or read book Raindrop Distributions at Corvallis, Oregon written by Eugene Albert Mueller and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Raindrop size distributions are presented in a tabular form for 1703 samples of one cubic meter each. These were obtained from a drop camera at Corvallis, Oregon during the period of December 19, 1957 through June 28, 1958. For each of the samples, certain parameters calculated from the distribution are reported. These include rainfall rate, radar reflectivity, liquid water content, attenuation cross-section, median volume diameter, and the total number of drops. Average distributions for various rainfall rates and radar reflectivities are also reported. (Author).
