Book Synopsis A Brief Introduction to Qur'anic Exegesis by : Ali Suleiman Ali
Download or read book A Brief Introduction to Qur'anic Exegesis written by Ali Suleiman Ali and published by International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT). This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generating precise comprehension of the Quran and the true meaning of its verses is arguably the essence of the most important of the Islamic sciences, Qur’anic exegesis or tafsÏr. Since the passing of the Prophet many scholars have worked hard to bring a proper understanding of the meaning of the Qur’an to Muslims, and indeed to the world at large, as fully as possible, in an attempt to widen knowledge of the guidance contained therein, and how to live life in accordance with its principles. The result has been a wealth of historical Muslim literature on the subject which has come to be known as Ulum al-Tafsir or the sciences of tafsir, a systematic exegesis of the Qur’an following several methodologies. This work traces the evolution of Qur’anic exegesis, from the time of the Prophet, the Companions, the Successors, the early mufassirun (exegetes) with independent tafsir works, to the present day. In doing so, it addresses some major issues including to what extent has tafsir been influenced by differing theological traditions (classical, mystical sufi, persian), political and sectarian interests etc. and how interpretation has differed in some cases, mainly pertaining to juridical, theological, historical, and linguistic issues. Certain scholars and Qur’anic commentaries have stood the test of time and stand in greater prominence to others. Their works are introduced, and different methodologies compared and critiqued. What we are left with is a broad yet important overview of a subject which otherwise can be too complex and extensive for the ordinary reader to grasp acting as a valuable addition to his/her understanding and study of the Qur’anic text.

Book excerpt: A collection of the long-unavailable tafasir, or commentaries on the Qur'an, which help to properly explain and contextualize the revelation, this series aims to make leading exegetical works--in translation, unabridged, and faithful to the letter and meaning of the Arabic--widely available for study and research. One of the most pivotal works for understanding the environment that influenced the development of Qur'anic exegesis, this volume--originally written by Abdullah Ibn 'Abbas and Ibn Ya'qub al-Firuzabadi--offers valuable insight into the circulation and exchange of popular ideas between Islam, Judaism, and Christianity during the formative phase of Islamic exegesis. In addition, the work avoids elaborate theological, philosophical, and grammatical explanations, making it easily accessible to nonspecialists.
Book Synopsis Meanings of Juz' Amma by : Muhammad Salih Al-Uthaymeen
Download or read book Meanings of Juz' Amma written by Muhammad Salih Al-Uthaymeen and published by . This book was released on 2020-10-09 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Juz' Amma is the last of thirty equally divided sections of the Qur'an, and is comprised of its final 36 chapters (Surah 78 to Surah 114). Juz' Amma is named after its very first word ('amma / عمّ), and is the most popularly memorized section of the Qur'an due to its brief chapters and concise verses. This juz' was almost entirely revealed during the Prophet's ﷺ years in Mecca, and hence its narrative focuses on centralizing the Divine in the hearts of the believers, attaching their hearts to the events of the Last Day, and ingraining in them perseverance through trials and excellence of character. This commentary on Juz' Amma was transcribed then translated from the audio recordings of the late scholar and jurist, Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-'Uthaymeen. Its clear language and intertexual method (explaining the Qur'an with other Qur'anic passages) makes it an ideal resource for anyone seeking to better comprehend what they recite in prayer, develop their Qur'anic vocabulary, and become familiar with the fundamental principles of traditional Qur'anic exegesis. This book was compiled and published as curricula for Tajan Quran Institute (Allentown, PA, USA), but is perfectly suitable for self-study as well (in shā Allāh). All proceeds from its sales will go towards advancing the Qur'anic literacy of our students at Tajan.

Book Synopsis Towards Understanding of Tadmuriyyah by : Shaykh-Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
Download or read book Towards Understanding of Tadmuriyyah written by Shaykh-Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and published by . This book was released on 2018-11-26 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tadmuriyyah is a treatise written by Ibn Taymiyyah. The famous scholar of Islam, who strives always against the Bid'ah (innovation) until the end of his life, yet he did not stop his journey to the truth. So it is not strange that he said "What could my enemies possibly do to me? My paradise is in my heart; wherever I go it goes with me, inseparable from me. For me, prison is a place of (religious) retreat; execution is my opportunity for martyrdom; and exile from my town is but a chance to travel." He has many books written in different fields of knowledge. This treatise discussed the Aqeedah; which included names and its attributes of Allah (¿); Shari'ah and Al-Qadar, which considers the vital part of Islamic religion. It is also one of the most important books use in Salafi to shape the Aqeedah. This treatise is about some answers related to Aqeedah given to the students of Tadmur. Here Ibn Taymiyyah indicates that it is obligatory for the seeker of Tawhid to firm believe on whatever Allah says about Himself and to deny whatever Allah denies about Himself; the duty of 'Ibad towards command is to obey, towards prohibition is to avoid, after that he should seek forgiveness from Allah(¿).This treatise has many explanations but Taqrib Tadmuriyyah is considered as one of the best among these explanations; given by Shaykh al-Uthaymeen.
