Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is one of the few autobiographies written by an Ethiopian church leader. Markina Meja was born c. 1924 near Soddo, Wolaitta. He was one of the early evangelical believers in south-west Ethiopia and served two large Ethiopian church fellowships: the Mekane Yesus and the Kale Heywet. In addition to his efforts in forming a national evangelical movement, he taught for many years in the Wolaitta Bible School and was a strong advocate for Sunday schools in his own church district. Committed to making the Scriptures available in the mother-tongue, he was one of the key Wolaittans who assisted in the translation of the Wolaitta Bible. His long and fruitful ministry of 70 years was not without insult, false accusation, and imprisonment during the Marxist regime. Shortly before Markina passed to glory in 2007, he was honoured by the National Kale Heywet Church for his faithful and exemplary life of service. Tribute to Ato Markina Meja "What can I say that will adequately express the measure of Markina Meja's life and impact upon me? I have known this giant in the Lord for nearly fifty years. Our hearts were knit together in extended ministry among the 600 churches in Wolaitta during the 1960s. We preached together at many conferences and taught seminars throughout Wolaitta. I saw in him a truly humble heart, a wise mind and a deep zeal for the work of the Lord. His strong yet soft-spoken manner made me listen to his counsel and appreciate the godly leadership among his people. Markina stands tall as God's servant challenging me to love and faithfulness. His life is a wonderful story." -Mr. Bill Harding (Sr.), retired SIM missionary, Charlotte, NC, USA

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are more lies told on wedding days than at any other time. We promise "to love, honor, and obey until death do us part" (in the sight of God and many witnesses). We go blindly into relationships thinking this imperfect human being can totally and completely satisfy us when only God can fill that place in the human heart. When God flooded the earth after man's sin, He made a covenant with Noah and his sons that He would never destroy the earth with floodwaters again (Gen. 9: 8-11). He gave us the rainbow as a sign of his covenant (v. 13). Man has taken the rainbow as a symbol for their perverse lifestyle. We have angered a Holy God, but He still has a remnant.

Book excerpt: SOMEONE LOVES YOU. UNCONDITIONALLY. UNSHAKABLE, UNFAILINGLY. That Someone is God Himself. But how can that be possible? Why would God love you so? Because He has fashioned an unbreakable covenant between Himself and you. And He always keeps His promises. “Everything God does,” says Kay Arthur, “is based on His covenant.” And when you understand how thoroughly the dynamic concept of covenant permeates everything God says in His Word, and everything He does in our lives, you’ll come to experience one of the most stabilizing, most freeing truths you’ll ever know. In a culture in which unfaithfulness is rampant, God’s “fierce, ferocious loyalty” toward us is difficult to imagine. And yet, through her characteristically warm and wise exploration of the Scripture, Kay Arthur will lead you into discovering the stunning truth of God’s covenant–and help you experience its revolutionary truth in your life. The Bible reveals the covenant bond to be the highest personal relationship possible. In ancient times, covenants were solemn, binding agreements supremely honored above all others. Making a covenant represented an unqualified, total commitment of one person to another–unconditionally, totally, eternally. As you follow the thread of God’s covenant woven throughout the Bible, you’ll discover the awesome privilege of getting to know the Lord as your Covenant God.

Book excerpt: The God that you and I serve is a Covenant keeping God. God established His covenant with Abraham (Gen. 17:1-4,7). God told Abraham to walk before him (perfect, blameless) and he would establish his covenant with him and would multiply him exceedingly and make him a Father of many nations. Through the blood of Jesus, you and I have the right to partake of the Abrahamic Covenant. Galatians3:29 says, And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abrahams seed], then you are Abrahams offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise. (Amplified). We are entitled to all of the promises, blessings and benefits of the Abrahamic Covenant. It is a part of our inheritance and it is up to us whether we partake of the covenant. Jesus left nothing undone at the cross. He took care of it all! Jesus bore ? Righteousness for our Spirit ? Peace for our Soul (mind, will and emotions) ? Healing for our body God is not looking for us to pay the price; Jesus already did that. God is looking for us to become aggressive to receive what rightfully belongs to us. God knows we are Heirs of God. Jesus knows we are Heirs of God and joint Heirs with him sharing his inheritance.

Book excerpt: Integrating Bible stories that stretch across the centuries from each other along with a background of secular history and current events, Unbroken Cord uncovers the link that ties them all together. This book is what many believers have been looking for: an easily understood synthesis between Old and New Testaments, past and present. Combining a tourist's enthusiasm for exploration along with a love for detail and scripture, the author provides information that includes today's news, ancient prophecy, and a good bit of backstory. Each of the twelve chapters is written with the goal of distilling its specific topic into an explanation that makes sense to the average person. Even if the reader lacks background regarding Biblical History or the current geopolitical situation, subjects that have previously seemed overly complicated or fuzzy, begin to fall into place. Since most everyone has fallen through the scholastic cracks at some point, each chapter is presented as an opportunity for some much needed "catch-up" information. The book is a personal tutoring session and survey approach to understanding Israel's place within the context of a modern Christian worldview. It turns out that the Bible is full of mystery. Unbroken Cord unlocks secrets about God's Calendar, fleshes out origins of the Middle East conflict, examines prophecies concerning Israel's future population boom and explores Jerusalem - from her distant past and into the age to come.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Karl Barth's Church Dogmatics is one of the major theological works of the 20th century. The Swiss-German theologian Karl Barth (1886-1968) was the most original and significant Reformed theologian of the twentieth century. Barth began the Church Dogmatics in 1932 and continued working on its thirteen volumes until the end of his life. Barth's writings continue to guide and instruct the preaching and teaching of pastors and academics worldwide. The English translation was prepared by a team of scholars and edited by G. W. Bromiley and T. F. Torrance and published from 1936. A team of scholars at Princeton Theological Seminary have now provided the translation of Greek, Latin, Hebrew and French passages into English. The original is presented alongside the English translation. This makes the work more reader friendly and accessible to the growing number of students who do not have a working knowledge of the ancient languages. This new edition with translations is now available for the first time in individual volumes.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broken Covenant, Fallen World THE COVENANT OF WORKS The first of five volumes in the series, Covenants of the Almighty. The purpose of this series is to help ordinary Christians understand God's covenants at an easier reading level than most theology, the reading level of those who speak English as a second language. Collegiate language is minimal, colloquial idiosyncrasies are avoided, and illustrations can be universally understood. Difficult points are explained as simply as possible, sometimes from several approaches for readers who may not quickly grasp spiritual concepts. This series views the divine covenants through the lens of the New Testament, especially through the writings of the apostle Paul. The apostle's comments are taken as divinely inspired commentary explaining the true meaning of the text. Volume One examines the covenant God established with the first man in the Garden of Eden. For centuries this covenant has been described by theologians as a "covenant of works." The Covenant of Works is normally seen as a contrast to the Covenant of Grace that God established through Jesus Christ for man's salvation. Recent debates have questioned these distinctions. This book skips the debate, to avoid putting some readers on the defensive, while making a case for the validity and essential nature of the Covenant of Works. The first part of the book is a "Synopsis of Covenant Theology" for readers who want an overview of the covenants or need to understand how to bring together the details described in later chapters of the series. This is a survey of main points of the covenants within their historical context. The second part of this first volume explains the history, meaning and application of the Covenant of Works, and its importance for a correct understanding of Biblical concepts such as the covenant, the fall of man into sin, the final judgment, redemption, Christ's role as Mediator and Last Adam, and Edenic themes in the promises of the new covenant in Christ Jesus. Other books planned for the series, Covenants of the Almighty: Volume Two: Camp of the Saints. (Release date: July/August 2012) God's Covenant with Abraham promised justification by grace through faith for believers from all nations. A study of the basics of the Covenant of Grace within the Abrahamic Covenant. Important lessons for all pilgrims who walk in the steps of Abraham's faith today. Volume Three: The Lighthouse Kingdom (January 2013) God created the kingdom of Israel for His own glory, to reveal His righteousness to the nations, and to proclaim the future appearance of the Messiah who would bring salvation to all the earth and rule over all nations. Understand the old covenant through the illumination of the apostles, and sit at Moses' feet to ponder mysteries of the Messiah and the kingdom of heaven and gain insights valuable for citizens of heaven's kingdom. Volume Four: Dawn of Heaven's Light (Summer 2013) The way into the kingdom of heaven is opened only through the death and resurrection of the King of heaven. He came from heaven to establish His kingdom in the hearts of believers from every language, tribe, people and nation. After conquering the grave, Christ returned to heaven to serve His kingdom forever as King and High Priest of the new covenant. Volume Five: Heaven's Lamps in the Valley of Sorrows (Early 2014) The close relationship of the lines of covenant and eschatology throughout Biblical history until they come together and find their fulfillment in one man, Jesus Christ.
