Book excerpt: This story is my journey that began years ago, a spiritual journey that continues even until this day. Being interested in lost treasures, I began my search for the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine located in the Superstition Mountains just east of Apache Junction, Arizona. I was a Vietnam helicopter pilot. The experience and knowledge I received from combat enabled me to interpret some of the oldest rock petroglyph images and carvings that are known today: the Peralta Master Map and the Peralta Stone Tablets. These discoveries led me to the opinion that the Peralta Stone Tablets are of Jesuit origin; their secrets, which are public record, were to have been kept secret. The Peralta Stone Tablet images are complex; they are pieces to a larger puzzle that will eventually be complete. History changes now. Photographed Peralta Stone Tablet image locations are shown; they range from a few hundred feet in height to approximately a mile in length being contained in a small area of the vast mountain range. Illustrations of the Fish Treasure Map and the Minas Del Oro Map are shown from different periods of history but each marking the same location. You will discover, as I did, secret places that have been lost in time. A fire will be lit inside you: the excitement of the hunt, whether it is in the mountains or in your easy chair, will burn once again. God's speed be with you. James L. Wilson Bandit 27

Book excerpt: The tale begins over three-hundred years ago, when the Fair People—the goblins, fairies, dragons, and other fabled and fantastic creatures of a dozen lands—fled the Old World for the New, seeking haven from the ways of Man. With them came their precious jewels: diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls... But then the Fair People vanished, taking with them their twelve fabulous treasures. And they remained hidden until now... Across North America, these twelve treasures, over ten-thousand dollars in precious jewels, are buried. The key to finding each can be found within the twelve full color paintings and verses of The Secret. Yet The Secret is much more than that. At long last, you can learn not only the whereabouts of the Fair People's treasure, but also the modern forms and hiding places of their descendants: the Toll Trolls, Maitre D'eamons, Elf Alphas, Tupperwerewolves, Freudian Sylphs, Culture Vultures, West Ghosts and other delightful creatures in the world around us. The Secret is a field guide to them all. Many "armchair treasure hunt" books have been published over the years, most notably Masquerade (1979) by British artist Kit Williams. Masquerade promised a jewel-encrusted golden hare to the first person to unravel the riddle that Williams cleverly hid in his art. In 1982, while everyone in Britain was still madly digging up hedgerows and pastures in search of the golden hare, The Secret: A Treasure Hunt was published in America. The previous year, author and publisher Byron Preiss had traveled to 12 locations in the continental U.S. (and possibly Canada) to secretly bury a dozen ceramic casques. Each casque contained a small key that could be redeemed for one of 12 jewels Preiss kept in a safe deposit box in New York. The key to finding the casques was to match one of 12 paintings to one of 12 poetic verses, solve the resulting riddle, and start digging. Since 1982, only two of the 12 casques have been recovered. The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum. Preiss was killed in an auto accident in the summer of 2005, but the hunt for his casques continues.

Book excerpt: Treasures of many kinds still lie hidden below crumbling castles and ruined monasteries; in macabre tombs; in subterranean labyrinths and sinister caverns. Many sunken treasures lie beneath the seas, oceans and lakes of the world. Vast stores of pirate gold are still hidden on many a real life treasure island such as Oak Island at Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Many treasures were looted, hidden and lost after the two World Wars - Hermann Goering, for example, one of most powerful leaders of Nazi Germany, is strongly suspected of hiding huge treasures at Veldenstein and Lake Zeller. This fascinating, expertly researched book brilliantly reveals all these unsolved mysteries. The final section covers useful ideas for treasure-seekers: the study of old maps and charts; coded messages; secret symbols; and intensive research into the lives and locations of those people through out history who probably in all certainty, had treasure to hide.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arizona’s Superstition Mountains are like no other mountain range in the continental United States. The ancestral ground of the western Apache and sacred heights of the neighboring Pima, these mountains were once a veritable no-man’s land of soaring cliffs, dead-end box canyons, and eerie hoodoos of stone, marking them as one of the last places on earth that any person would dare to tread. While this range appears on the surface to be a veritable nature lover’s paradise with towering saguaro cactus forests, desert wildflowers, and roadrunners, it is also home to rattlesnakes, plants and animals that stick, sting, or bite, and modern gun-toting, dry-gulchers. In fact, in the last century, the Superstition Mountains have claimed the lives of more than 500 visitors, marking it as the West’s deadliest wild area. Part hiking guide, part history book, Superstitions: Hiking the Ghost Trails of Mystery Mountain vividly brings the supernatural beauty, mystery, and majesty of this unique area to life.Within the pages of Superstitions, readers will first be swept up in the legends of the Superstition Mountains, encountering colorful historical characters such as 1840s gold prospectors, brave-hearted Apaches, and sly outlaws. Readers will encounter the native flora and fauna of the range, from poisonous rattlesnakes to rare flowers. And finally, an in-depth guide to every trail in the range, will satisfy even the most experienced of hikers.Including a foldout map and dozens of original photos, Superstitions belongs on the shelf, or in the backpack, of every history buff and every veteran hiker.

The foreigners and natives settle in an area now called Chaco Canyon to establish a religious center and build seven cities of gold and silver that historians and treasure hunters still talk about and seek. The people, and their cities of gold, disappear without a trace centuries before fortune hunters come seeking the cities and the wealth they contain. Only a select few people remain to oversee the secrets of the ancient people, their treasure, and the plan for using that treasure.

Book excerpt: "Museum curator Ray Peralta knows that at the best of times, the Superstition Mountain Museum is a magnet for treasure hunters chasing the legendary Lost Dutchman's Mine. But this winter, his small desert town on the outskirts of Phoenix worries him as the visitors clear out and the vigilantes move in. Generally, the Sons of Liberty roll into Phoenix Valley for a week each winter with their souped-up army jeeps and dirt bikes to conduct drills in the desert and wreak havoc on the town before they leave. But this year, there is an undeniable tension in the air, and within days of the group's arrival, instead of the usual trail of destruction, they leave a wake of death. There are secrets lurking in the Superstition Mountains not related to any treasure. Countless people have lost their lives in that sweltering desert, and it isn't the heat that has taken them. How did they die? That's the real mystery. And in the midst of the riddle stands Ray, a man who swore an oath of secrecy--and he'll die before he breaks it"--

This book was written to educate and inform you so that you can make good buying decisions on the internet and off. It only takes spotting just a bad deal or two and you've more than paid for the cost of this guide! Buy your peace of mind today! Have you been wanting to buy coins, gold, or silver boon the internet but aren't sure that it is safe? Your caution is justified, and that is why this book was written: To provide a glimpse into the deceptions and scams that are so prevalent not just on the internet but in the real world as well. Every fake coin that is sold undermines the integrity of our hobby as well as the values of un-graded coins on the open market. Are you able to identify a counterfeit silver dollar? Because of the high values of key date coins, forgeries are being made almost every day and peddled to unsuspecting victims who think they have the bargain of a lifetime. What about bullion? Are you able to tell a dishonest deal from a legitimately honest one? This guide will teach you how descriptions can be worded in such a way as to mislead you into buying mere replicas and imitations with little or no real value. Unsearched coin lots; "Shotgun" rolled coins; "Estate" lots; "Miniature" Gold coins and counterfeit tokens; Altered coins; Graded vs. Ungraded coins; Gold filled vs. Gold Plated; Choosing a refinery; Basic coin evaluation and grading; These are beginnings to lucrative opportunities for a sharp eye, yet to the untrained they become pitfalls: Wouldn't you like to be better prepared?

Book excerpt: This is the second book in the series and gives all of the information and clues about the Knights of The Golden Circle and their treasures that was published for 17 years in the prestigious ?Treasure Hunter Confidential Newsletter.? It was very informative and was available only to subscribers for $100 per year. (It also contained stories and information on other treasures as well.) Although the Editor, Larry Williams, was an excellent researcher and writer, much of the information came from treasure hunters and researchers themselves, giving tips, ideas, possible locations, how to recognize the signs, what they might mean, and even sketches and drawings - including a map overlay that could possible show where other treasures were located after you found one of them since normally, more than one treasure was buried at a location.
