Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coding and Decoding Seismic Data: The Concept of Multishooting, Volume One, Second Edition, offers a thorough investigation of modern techniques for collecting, simulating, and processing multishooting data. Currently, the acquisition of seismic surveys is performed as a sequential operation in which shots are computed separately, one after the other. The cost of performing various shots simultaneously is almost identical to that of one shot; thus, the benefits of using the multishooting approach for computing seismic surveys are enormous. By using this approach, the longstanding problem of simulating a three-dimensional seismic survey can be reduced to a matter of weeks. Providing both theoretical and practical explanations of the multishooting approach, including case histories, this book is an essential resource for exploration geophysicists and practicing seismologists. - Investigates how to collect, stimulate, and process multishooting data - Addresses the improvements in seismic characterization and resolution that can be expected from multishooting data - Provides information for the oil and gas exploration and production business that will influence day-to-day surveying techniques - Covers robust decoding methods of undetermined mixtures, nonlinear decoding, the use of constraints in decoding processes, and nonlinear imaging of undecoded data - Includes access to a companion site with answers to questions posed in the book

Book excerpt: The concept of this book is ECG signals- Electrocardiography is connected with Arduino UNO- microcontroller. This book demonstrates how our heart waves can be connected to a microcontroller. What kind of obstruction or change occurs in the wave according to the different changes of the atmosphere can be known from this book. The ECG Signal plays an important role in the diagnosis of heart diseases and disorders. An ECG is a significant physiological signal for diagnosis of cardiac disease. Modern usage of monitoring devices with electrocardiogram is increasing. Huge storage space and large quantities of data are that, and ECG compression is required for efficient storage and it has been extracted from a medical database. Aninteresting research line focuses on transforming the original one-dimensional waveforms of the ECG into two-dimensional information, followed by a processing stage using image processing tools. Many cardiac abnormalities can be observed with the aid of an ECG interpretation including inadequate blood flow, heart muscle death due to coronary thrombosis and heart muscle enlargement. Arduino can be used to for the development of interactive objects, taking inputs to control outputs. It is connected to the Arduino hardware to communicate and upload sketches. Arduino can read information from input devices such as Trimmer(potentiometer), Antenna, Sensors, e.t.c, and can also send data to the output devices such as Speakers, LED, DC motor, LCD Screen, e.t.c. User communities are groups of people using a given product, the Arduino in this case. So, the design has been enhanced, and it helps drive the Arduino board for direction to future.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last three decades geosciences and geo-engineering were influenced by two essential scenarios: First, the technological progress has changed completely the observational and measurement techniques. Modern high speed computers and satellite based techniques are entering more and more all geodisciplines. Second, there is a growing public concern about the future of our planet, its climate, its environment, and about an expected shortage of natural resources. Obviously, both aspects, viz. efficient strategies of protection against threats of a changing Earth and the exceptional situation of getting terrestrial, airborne as well as spaceborne data of better and better quality explain the strong need of new mathematical structures, tools, and methods. Mathematics concerned with geoscientific problems, i.e., Geomathematics, is becoming increasingly important. The ‘Handbook Geomathematics’ as a central reference work in this area comprises the following scientific fields: (I) observational and measurement key technologies (II) modelling of the system Earth (geosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere) (III) analytic, algebraic, and operator-theoretic methods (IV) statistical and stochastic methods (V) computational and numerical analysis methods (VI) historical background and future perspectives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This short book is for students, professors and professionals interested in signal processing of seismic data using MATLABTM. The step-by-step demo of the full reflection seismic data processing workflow using a complete real seismic data set places itself as a very useful feature of the book. This is especially true when students are performing their projects, and when professors and researchers are testing their new developed algorithms in MATLABTM for processing seismic data. The book provides the basic seismic and signal processing theory required for each chapter and shows how to process the data from raw field records to a final image of the subsurface all using MATLABTM. The MATLABTM codes and seismic data can be downloaded here. Table of Contents: Seismic Data Processing: A Quick Overview / Examination of A Real Seismic Data Set / Quality Control of Real Seismic Data / Seismic Noise Attenuation / Seismic Deconvolution / Carrying the Processing Forward / Static Corrections / Seismic Migration / Concluding Remarks

Book excerpt: Digital Signal Processing, Second Edition enables electrical engineers and technicians in the fields of biomedical, computer, and electronics engineering to master the essential fundamentals of DSP principles and practice. Many instructive worked examples are used to illustrate the material, and the use of mathematics is minimized for easier grasp of concepts. As such, this title is also useful to undergraduates in electrical engineering, and as a reference for science students and practicing engineers. The book goes beyond DSP theory, to show implementation of algorithms in hardware and software. Additional topics covered include adaptive filtering with noise reduction and echo cancellations, speech compression, signal sampling, digital filter realizations, filter design, multimedia applications, over-sampling, etc. More advanced topics are also covered, such as adaptive filters, speech compression such as PCM, u-law, ADPCM, and multi-rate DSP and over-sampling ADC. New to this edition: - MATLAB projects dealing with practical applications added throughout the book - New chapter (chapter 13) covering sub-band coding and wavelet transforms, methods that have become popular in the DSP field - New applications included in many chapters, including applications of DFT to seismic signals, electrocardiography data, and vibration signals - All real-time C programs revised for the TMS320C6713 DSK - Covers DSP principles with emphasis on communications and control applications - Chapter objectives, worked examples, and end-of-chapter exercises aid the reader in grasping key concepts and solving related problems - Website with MATLAB programs for simulation and C programs for real-time DSP
