Book Synopsis Effect of Plastic Deformation of the Gamma Phase on the Strengthening of Iron-nickel Alloy During Subsequent Martensitic Transformation by : Yu N. Koval
Download or read book Effect of Plastic Deformation of the Gamma Phase on the Strengthening of Iron-nickel Alloy During Subsequent Martensitic Transformation written by Yu N. Koval and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an iron-nickel alloy, the increase in the hardness by thermo-mechanical processing may be separated into two component parts: the effect produced by deformation and the effect connected with martensitic conversion. With the increase in the degree of deformation, the intensification of the hardness brought about by the deformation increases, and that connected with the martensitic conversion decreases. There was not revealed any essential difference between the sizes of the mosaic blocks of the alpha-phase in the specimens subjected to different degrees of reduction (compression) in the austenite state, and in the undeformed specimens after intense cooling. Book Synopsis TRANSFORMATIONS IN IRON-NICKEL ALLOYS. by : W. D. Swanson
Download or read book TRANSFORMATIONS IN IRON-NICKEL ALLOYS. written by W. D. Swanson and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooling curves of Fe-Ni alloys (1-10%Ni) quenched at rates up to 60 000 degC/s, reveal two transformation mechanisms: the lower-temperature mechanism is shown, by the criterion of shape change, to be martensitic. The measured M(s) temperatures do not agree with the experiments or calculations of previous investigators. In all but the 10% alloy, the higher-temperature transformation (believed to be the 'massive' transformation) occurs about 50 degC above M(s). The critical cooling rate to produce a martensitic product decreases from about 30 000 degC/s in the 1%Ni alloy to 15 000 degC/s in the 7% alloy. (Author).

Book Synopsis IUTAM Symposium on Micro- and Macrostructural Aspects of Thermoplasticity by : O.T. Bruhns
Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Micro- and Macrostructural Aspects of Thermoplasticity written by O.T. Bruhns and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1999 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains 47 contributions presented at the August 1997 symposium. The contributors discuss basic questions of material modeling, problems encountered in polycrystalline materials, and the transition from the micro- to the macroscale. The special handling of shape memory materials, phase transformations, and damage is emphasized. A couple of papers are devoted to experimental results and the various aspects of numerical treatment. The editors conclude that previously cited problems, though faced from different view points, may often be handled similarly, and that the processing of special cases sensitizes for a more accurate treatment in details. Sample paper topics are the temperature effect on viscoplastic constitutive spins, anisotropic plastic flows, the texture development of aluminum polycrystals under finite plastic deformations, and a new type of thermal ratcheting. Book Synopsis Phase Transformations and Heat Treatments of Steels by : Bankim Chandra Ray
Download or read book Phase Transformations and Heat Treatments of Steels written by Bankim Chandra Ray and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-06-01 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The perpetual flow of understanding between phase transformation that controls grain/microstructures and heat treatment which decides the size of grains/microstructures of steels is not well articulated in the perspective of undergraduate students. In Phase Transformations and Heat Treatments of Steels, theories of phase transformation have been used to obtain a desirable phase or combination of phases by performing appropriate heat treatment operations, leading to unification of both the concepts. Further, it includes special and critical heat treatment practices, case studies, local and in-service heat treatments, curative and preventive measures of heat treatment defects for several common and high-performance applications. Features: Presents fundamentals of phase transformation in steels Analyzes basics of phase transformation due to heat treatment of steel under various environmental conditions Explains application of heat treatment for different structural components Discusses heat treatment defects and detection Emphasizes heat treatment of special steels and in-situ heat treatment practices
