Meditating on these unique designs--which each focus on a particular chakra and an organ, body part, or system such as the heart, eyes, lungs, or skin--draws upon the endless power of the spirit as a force for physical healing, allowing us to tap into our inner springs of vitality and help restore our being to wholeness and balance. The 30 mandala meditations have been specially created to enhance the meditator’s relationship with his or her own body, ease common symptoms of imbalance and stress, and address specific health concerns, including headaches and migraines, joint stiffness, fatigue, anxiety symptoms, and chronic aches and pains. Organized around the 7-chakra system, the book introduces each chakra in depth along with signs of an over- or underactive chakra and a mandala meditation to strengthen the chakra. This is followed by specific meditations on individual physical, emotional, mind, or soul aspects the chakra regulates as well as meditations for pain relief and energy boost, supporting the skin and senses, and tuning connections within the brain to help with mind and memory. The book also illustrates how clearing the chakras with visualization and meditation can boost energy, enhance the immune system, and bring a change of perspective to everyday life. With rich symbolism and beautiful artwork, these healing body meditations provide an engaging and effective tool to balance, heal, and stimulate body, mind, and soul.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You can craft a new mandala every week for one year with this full-color guide by the author of the bestselling The Art of Stone Painting. F. Sehnaz Bac, an artist and seasoned archaeologist, presents step-by-step instructions for fifty-two projects. Her easy-to-follow guide will show you how to transform ordinary stones into inspirational works of art. The mandala — derived from the Sanskrit word for "circle" — represents the universe, and the symbol has long been instrumental to sacred rituals and meditative practices. This treasury of radiant designs presents patterns for stone paintings, each of which is accompanied by a one-word mantra — relax, tranquil, spirit, dream, believe, and other uplifting terms. A few projects are meant to be painted on sea glass, leaves, or shells, but most are based on Bac's popular interpretations of classic stone-based styles. Colorful photographs accompany simple instructions for a year of crafting inspiration.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A mandala is a diagram of the universe—a map of true reality intended to provide a focus for Buddhist religious practice and inspire the devout. This book highlights the distinctive Tibetan approach to creating mandalas, exploring how it crossed over from India into Tibet, and how continuous exchanges of art and ideas between the two cultures, led by monks and spiritual teachers, gave rise to a uniquely Tibetan style of Buddhist imagery. Featuring more than one hundred paintings, sculptures, and ritual objects, this superbly illustrated volume reflects the dazzling complexities of the Tibetan imagery that has provided a foundation for mandalas through the centuries. Most notably, a mesmerizing installation by the Tibetan American artist Tenzing Rigdol (b. 1982), specially created for the accompanying exhibition and published here for the first time, offers contemporary audiences a way of interrogating and understanding their world and underscores how this ancient tradition remains a vibrant living practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maṇḍalas – Their Nature and Development This book deals with the question of what exactly constitutes a ‘cell’ metaphysically. The cell is viewed as a unit of consciousness that interrelate with other cells to form maṇḍalas of expression. Each such cell can be considered a form of ‘self’ that has a limited, though valid, body of expression. It is born, sustains a form of activity, and consequently dies when it outlives its usefulness. This mode of analysis is extended to include the myriad forms manifest in the world of phenomena known as saṃsāra including the existence and functioning of chakras. A Treatise on Mind Outline Volume 1 The “Self” or “Non-self” in Buddhism Volume 2 Considerations of Mind—A Buddhist Enquiry Volume 3 The Buddha-Womb and the Way to Liberation Volume 4 Maṇḍalas: Their Nature and Development Volume 5 An Esoteric Exposition of the Bardo Thödol Volume 6 Meditation and the Initiation Process Volume 7 The Constitution of Shambhala Whilst the numbers of Buddhists are growing in the world, the techniques and discourses of Buddhism have not changed to meet the radically different conditions of the contemporary world. Thus Buddhism needs a true restorative flowering to rival that of the renaissance of debate and innovative thinking of the early post-Nāgārjunian era. In order to achieve this it must synthesise the present wealth of scientific knowledge, alongside the best of the Western world’s philosophical output – this is the primary task of this seven volume treatise. The treatise investigates Buddhist ideas concerning what mind is and how it relates to a concept of a ‘self’. It is principally a study of the complex interrelationship between mind and phenomena, from the gross to the subtle—the physical, psychic, supersensory and supernal. This entails an explanation of how mind incorporates all phenomena in its modus operandi, and how eventually that mind is liberated from it, thereby becoming awakened. Thus the treatise explores the manner in which the corporeally orientated, concretised, intellectual mind eventually becomes transformed into the Clear Light of the abstracted Mind; a Buddha-Mind.
