La segunda parte del libro se centra en la práctica de la traducción y se ofrecen una serie de textos generales y semi-especializados en versión original en inglés y una de las posibles variantes de la traducción al español. La intención del libro es servir de guía de estudio a los alumnos de los primeros años de traducción, sin olvidar a los autodidactas que deseen adentrarse en este campo. Si se logra despertar el interés de los lectores y que acudan luego a obras más especializadas, se habrá cumplido el propósito inicial.

Antes de abordar una propuesta didáctica, se hace preciso estudiar las particularidades lingüísticas y culturales que inciden en los textos jurídicos en general y, en los textos franceses y españoles en particular. Una vez estudiadas estas particularidades, se hace un recorrido sobre los distintos métodos de traducción aplicados a la traducción jurídica para así delimitar el margen de maniobra de que dispone el traductor jurídico. Nuestra propuesta didáctica, tomando en cuenta todas estas consideraciones, incluye entre sus objetivos la adquisición del conocimiento lingüístico y temático del campo que nos ocupa, así como el desarrollo de las destrezas y habilidades que todo traductor jurídico debe poseer. Para ello, propone un modelo de actuación pedagógica y una serie de actividades y ejercicios destinados a la consecución de los objetivos diseñados. Estas actividades y ejercicios se desarrollan a partir de una selección de textos que toman en consideración la progresión temática, lingüística y traductora. This study analyses the example comprehensively: its provenance, its theoretical status, its distinction from multiword lexical units (to be presented as infralemmas), types and specific functions. The example not only illustrates the data provided by the definition, the equivalent, the grammatical, collocational and pragmatic items, but also provides valuable complementary information on the use of each lexical unit described. Examples are models with which users can form other sentences but are also instantiations of the language that escape systematicity and reflect unpredictable but real uses. Theoretical reflection on the theory of the example (with special emphasis on the bilingual), analysis of how (especially bilingual) dictionaries present examples and what kind of information each type of example provides can assist lexicographers in planning their dictionaries and making theoretically based choices when it comes to the selection and presentation of examples.
