This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Políticas Públicas de Qualificação Profissional & EJA by : Bruno Miranda Neves
Download or read book Políticas Públicas de Qualificação Profissional & EJA written by Bruno Miranda Neves and published by Paco Editorial. This book was released on 2019-06-05 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Worldview of social occupational therapy reinforces the importance of the field and underscores the growing practice and theoretical field for global occupational therapy. In-depth analysis of social issues is incorporated throughout the text along with a detailed analysis of the potential contributions of occupational therapists to their societies. Focus on the social role of occupational therapy highlights the role of occupational therapy as a social profession and prepares readers to respond to social issues. Theoretical and practical chapters talk about occupational therapy and social challenges. Emphasis on human rights and social issues reflects the World Federation of Occupational Therapists Minimum Standards for the Education of Occupational Therapists.
Book Synopsis The Benefits of Learning by : Tom Schuller
Download or read book The Benefits of Learning written by Tom Schuller and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2004-02-26 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do education and learning really impact on people's lives? The Benefits of Learning is a detailed, systematic and vivid account of the impact of formal and informal education on people's lives. Based on extended interviews with adults of all ages, it shows how learning affects their health, family lives and participation in civic life, revealing the downsides of education as well as the benefits. At a time when education is in danger of being narrowly regarded as an instrument of economic growth, this study covers: * the interaction between learning and people's physical and psychological well-being * the way learning impacts on family life and communication between generations * the effect on people's ability and motivation to take part in civic and community life. Packed with detail from adults' own accounts of their lives, the book reveals how learning enables people to sustain themselves and their communities in the face of daily stresses and strains, as well as sometimes transforming their lives. The book opens up new avenues for debate. It is a valuable resource for education researchers and of particular interest to education policy makers, adult education practitioners, health educators and postgraduate students in education.

Book Synopsis Industries, Firms, and Jobs by : George Farkas
Download or read book Industries, Firms, and Jobs written by George Farkas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1988-07-31 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a welcome reassertion of an old tradition of interdisdplinary research. That tradition has tended to atrophy in the last decade, largely because of an enormous expansion of the domain of neoc1assical economics. The expansion has fed on two sdentific developments: first, human capital theory; second, contract theory. Both developments have taken phenomena critical to the operation of the economy but previously understood in terms of categories separate and distinct from those with which economists generally work and sought to apply the same analytical techniques that we use to understand other economic problems. Human capital theory has applied conventional techniques to questions of labor supply. It began this endeavor with the supply of trained labor and then expanded to a general theory of labor supply by broadening the analysis to the allocation of time over the individual's life, the interdependendes of supply decisions within the family, and finally to the formation of the family itself. Similarly, contract theory has moved from a theory that explains the existence of c10sed economic institutions to a theory of their formation and internaioperation. The hallmark of both of these developments is the extension and applica tion of analytical techniques based on purposive maximization under con traints and the interaction of individual decision makers through a com petitive market or its analogue.

Book Synopsis A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy by : Nick Pollard
Download or read book A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy written by Nick Pollard and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2008-09-02 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This challenging and innovative book explores the political aspects of occupational therapy. It looks at how practitioners may develop political awareness in order to aid community development. A Political Practice of Occupational Therapy is about maximizing the potential impact of occupational therapists' engagements and ensuring the profession is working towards the contruction of a civic society. It is supported by twelve chapters of practice examples from the UK, US, Georgia and Australia, as well as a history of the profession as an agency for social change. It asks: How is it possible to introduce the political into a profession that is linked to health and social care? What form could political practice take, and how could the political components of practice be analyzed and evaluated? It includes significant theoretical chapters on gender, class and sexuality, challenges to holism, occupational literacy, and a discussion of political competence. This book will be of particular use for students exploring community and emerging role settings, client centred practice, occupational and social justice and the theoretical base of the profession. From an editorial team that is widely recognized for their challenges to traditional thought and practice in occupational therapy, this book will be of value not just to occupational therapists but also those employed in health profession management and development, and community based rehabilitation.
